Frank Reich's Intro Presser - Today, Noon EST
ECHornet replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was just telling my wife he sounds like John Dutton. Haha -
I've been crossing my fingers we would have a chance to select Perry with our #62 or #94 pick. I'm starting to think our only chance at drafting him will be #40. He's had an excellent week at the Shrine Bowl. Listed at 6'5, 205 - I think it would be foolish to select Q Johnson in the top 15 if you can get a guy like Perry in the 2nd. I'm not sure which one will be a better pro. I think Perry has the better hands but Johnson may be better after the catch.

Ahlers should only get looks at FB/TE. I'm a Pirate fan, but his arm is not NFL level.

Report. Panthers pivoting from Shane Steichen
ECHornet replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Steichen’s interview with the Panthers front office: -
The owner and front office don’t seem to be satisfied with the results. There are plenty of owners not willing to eat money on mistakes. Ours eats it and then is putting out record setting offers in attempts to land the best staff possible. I’ll take it.
-
Easy to imagine a scenario where Young is the QB who drops from here due to size concerns. The other QBs talked about in the top 4 are more of the prototype size wise.
-
Your hatred of all things Panthers front office is skewing your perspective.
-
Good news on Campen and Tabor. It sounds like Reich was told to keep them on staff rather than just “encouraged.” Smart move by Tepp/Fitt. Also, it seems clear our owner is willing to spend what it takes. Being that’s the main purpose of a sports team owner, I’m in the minority that’s happy with Tepper as our owner. We are forcing teams league wide to match what we are willing to pay.

When we traded the picks, SF was struggling and the total value was equivalent to ~late 1st. If SF wins the Super Bowl, those picks will be roughly equivalent to a mid 2nd total value. In reality, I prefer having four separate picks over just one mid-2nd since it increases the likelihood we select someone worth a mid-2nd.

OLB - Burns 3T - Ioannidis or similar NT - Brown 5T - YGM OLB - Luvu ILB - Shaq and B Smith
-
Wouldn’t that be the best win-win trade of all time. SF wins 14 straight and the Super Bowl then we use those picks to trade up & find a franchise QB who leads us to our first Super Bowl.

You suggesting fans will boycott going to games because Wilks wasn't hired?
-
The fans on the Huddle are more knowledgeable about the Panthers than your typical social media poster. I’m not surprised those with more knowledge can accept Reich is the better hire. I’m also not surprised those just reading social media headlines and the lawyer’s tweets are outraged thinking a social injustice has occurred.
-
Please explain your thoughts on why Wilks didn’t receive a single HC interview with any other team than the Panthers. Guys like Ryans, Mayo, the Broncos DC all were interviewed elsewhere. Why not Wilks?
-
So you agree that Reich is seen as one of the best offensive schemers in the NFL, but all you can do is complain about the hire?

Would make resigning Bozeman more difficult. -
Not if Burns is part of the package.

Hire Reich and make him grow the beard back out. Definitely NFCS champs then -

Reich HC/Wilks DC - would we still receive two third round compensation picks if Wilks chooses to go elsewhere as DC (i.e., Falcons)? I'm unsure if the interim label changes that. -
Which candidates would YOU interview in round two?
ECHornet replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
1. Steichen 2. Reich 3. Wilks 4. Moore Don’t want to give up draft picks for Payton. Don’t think Kafka is ready yet. Don’t want anyone from this year’s Broncos staff. At least not yet. I favor Moore > Dorsey and Wilks > Caldwell. -
We can later in the draft. Not at #9 if it’s the 4th best QB in the class and he’s a huge project.
-
I haven’t given up hope on Tremble yet. He’s the same age (22) as Sam Laporta, Tucker Kraft, and Luke Musgrave in the 2023 draft class. He’s actually younger than Dalton Kincaid. TE is typically a position where only grown men excel. He could still develop into a strong TE2.

TMJ and Shenault are great WR3/4 types. I still want to see Shenault used out of the backfield more. DJ, imo, is a high end WR2. If we landed an elite #1 to pair with DJ and the rest, I would consider our WR room stacked.

I agree. Some here do not. They mentioned they would rather have respectable seasons over a number of years than one Super Bowl and then below average.
