  1. Bold. I respect it, but I hope we stay out of that frenzy unless Stroud or Young drop. If 4/5 QBs go in the top 8, we would be in prime position to trade back and acquire more picks. #9 would have their pick of the best player at multiple positions if that happens. Or we could just stay put and select one of them.
  2. You think 4 QBs go in the top 8? I think it's more likely that only two go in the top 8. I guess there's a lot that will play out between now and then so who knows.
  3. Why are people so convinced Young will stay injured when 45 year old, not fleet of foot Brady is able to survive the rigors of a full season? Sure, Tom is bigger but he also doesn't have the lean muscle mass support Bryce will in his lower twenties. Young isn't a Lamar or Fields who will be running constantly.
  4. I think I'd throw up if we trade up for Jalen Carter.
  5. Not an odd take at all. I agree with you. It seems our owner wants a more progressive, offense-oriented head coach. That's not Wilks. If our owner stood up for Wilks and made sure he was given the DC role, that would indicate he is valued by the organization. It is still a promotion from where he started the year. Now, if we choose a defensive-minded coach over Wilks, I'd consider leaving "the room flipping a double bird" if I were him.
  6. I have to give you props on the Smith call and wish our front office had made that move (long snapper smh), even with his injury concerns. That said, while I acknowledge we would be in even better position with that move, Fitt also deserves credit for constructing our current oline. Top 10 in the league imo.
  7. Well, his own team deemed him unworthy of a $40 million dollar cap hit. So I have that supporting me.
  8. I agree, if he plays like a top 10 QB or leads us to deep playoff runs, we would have to consider resigning him. My gut feeling is he would play like a mid-level starter and we wouldn't advance past the divisional round of the playoffs. Ideally, by then we would have a young QB ready to roll in his 2nd or 3rd season. Maybe that young QB is so promising we trade Carr in that second year. That's hopeful, but should be our thought process if we acquire Carr.
  9. Agreed. I'd sign Carr to a two year contract at ~20-25mil per and I wouldn't mind it being fully guaranteed due to the short term. I would use that two year period being aggressive in looking for a young future franchise QB. If he's adamant he wants more than a two year contract, I'm out and I would prefer to keep Darnold for cheap during that two year window we're searching for a franchise QB.
  10. There is a comparison if you just look at the most recent year. That’s what I’m saying, and that’s why he’s not worth $35mil a year more than Darnold. What’s best for the Panthers next year and beyond? I don’t think it’s sacrificing any future cap for a regressing Carr.
  11. There was a whole lot of make believe in this post. Reality is Carr and Darnold put up similar level stats this year despite Carr having the far better supporting cast. Is Carr a better QB than Darnold? Sure Enough to justify a 40mil cap hit? No If we just swap a healthy Darnold out for PJ and Baker all season, we’re likely a 10 win team.
  12. I don’t want AR in the top 10 either, but I’d prefer him to Levis. Sad thing is I’m pretty sure Stetson Bennett is a better QB than AR right now and likely would be for most of their rookie contract.
  13. So can Brady. I like our flexibility along the line. If we resign Boze, I think Elflein could fetch a 3rd rounder from a center-needy team, assuming his hip is healthy. That would also open up close to 5mil in cap space.
  14. Yea, Bryce very well could drop after combine measurements. He’ll probably be listed at 5’10. 5’9.8 wouldn’t surprise me though. At this point, I think I’d be more surprised if he’s 5’11+. Kyler definitely has some traits of dwarfism.
  15. I wouldn’t trade Moore. Not after we just signed him. A pick swap in the 1st + Burns and maybe our late second this year should be enough.
  16. It should be fairly obvious we won’t be winning a Super Bowl next year. So either we maximize our return for an aging RB whose timeline isn’t meshing with our rebuild, or we let him play it out and receive maybe a compensatory pick out of it. Also, you have the picks wrong. It’s end of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in 2023 and a 5th in 2024
  17. This link from last year has some info on head coaching backgrounds and likelihood of success: https://www.the33rdteam.com/category/breakdowns/is-it-possible-to-predict-nfl-head-coach-success/#:~:text=Nearly all (89.3%) had, progressed to the NFL level. According to their chart, a coach with 6-12 years of HC experience at the NFL level may average ~1 more win per season than those with no prior NFL HC experience. Negligible difference for those with 1-5 and 12+ years of NFL HC experience. If only Tepper had seen this article before Rhule. They found diminishing returns at the NFL level correlating to longer tenures as college HCs.
  18. His 2023 salary (32.9mil) + 7.5mil of his 2024 salary (41.9mil) become guaranteed for injury on Feb. 15th. I’d consider rearranging cap if it wasn’t for the 7.5mil guarantee in 2024 bc he could just be cut with no issues if he didn’t play like a top 10 QB next year.
  19. Well, we are hiring a new coach and most on the list are young, innovative offensive minds.
  20. Agree except feel Ben Johnson is up there along side Steichen.
  21. I’d agree except Foreman and Hubbard combined to rush for more yards per carry than CMC did while he was here this year. So it’s more like your new woman is prettier than your cheating wife. Yea, it still stings that it happened, but look what you have now. Plus you got more money in the divorce.
  22. Signing Carr sounds like a great way to stay mediocre and prevent having a chance at a QB in the 2024 draft.
