Horn on Pitts? I was thinking that will be Chinn’s match up and Horn will shadow London, if anyone.

I’d love to see you explain your stance that Fitt has downgraded every position but one. That’s way off imo.

Leave your emotions at the door about Burns... it's a BUSINESS
ECHornet replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
We’re calling his bluff because while Burns is holding cards that say he’s our best defensive player, he’s betting as if he’s the league’s best defensive player. Maybe he can be a few years from now. He’s not that yet though. -

If you hold out for a contract, then you feel confident in what you deserve based on your on-field performance. Based on the performances Burns has put forth to date, and factoring in his youth and our declining of the Rams trade offer, I believe he’s elevated to ~5th in edge rusher rankings. If he is paid accordingly, his APY should be ~$24mil. If he’s wanting $26+, I believe he should show he deserves it on the field. -
Dalton being the backup is to best develop our most important asset - Bryce.

I did. You know it must hurt inside to say “I don’t know who you are either,” but you really do. lol

I thought it was widely reported that Corral was McAdoo's favorite QB in the class?
-
Fear isn't the right word. I didn't fear Brady, but we went 1-5 against him, right? Maye in TB or Atlanta would set them up for long term success, imo. I want Drake to have a great NFL career so I don't want the mixed emotions of him sharing a division with the Panthers. I wouldn't be shook. I'd be extremely disappointed.
-
I'm with you. I love Bryce and think we have our guy. I just don't want Maye in the NFCS.
-
I've seen him. Maye's size and ability to make all the throws without needing to play hero scramble ball sets him apart from Williams. We shall see. They're both potential franchise QBs. I'd put my money on Maye having the better NFL career.
-
Except there are plenty of non-UNC analysts suggesting Maye could be the first QB taken. You've fallen for the flashy plays and Lincoln Riley offense. Caleb is a great college QB and fun to watch. With that said, I'd much rather he end up in Tampa Bay than Maye.
-
You don't have to be a UNC fan to recognize that Corral over Howell was a tremendous misevaluation. It's just that UNC fans said it right when it happened. Actually before when the trade up was announced.
-
Here's the potential irony of drafting Corral... Drafting Howell could have potentially saved Rhule's job and/or prevented us from selecting Bryce this year. Yes, we would have had a starting NFL QB, DJ Moore, and a lot of extra picks. BUT, even as a Tar Heel football fan, I think Bryce may have a better career than Howell, and it would not have been for the Panthers without Corral.
-
Corral over Howell was the (im)perfect summation of Rhule + McAdoo.

With Chark and Shenault back from injury, looks like we have our six WRs. WR: Chark / TMJ WR: Mingo / Shenault WR: Theilen / IS-M
-
If he struggles at LT in the spread as you suggest, do you believe he can be successful at guard?

I can't think of a better time to have 3 rookie and 2 sophomore OLmen than now with our vets to guide them along with Campen and the rest of the staff. Ekwonu already seems like he'll be solid to great somewhere on the line. If just 2 of the other 4 young guys develop in this ideal scenario for them, we're in great shape.
-
Officially, yes. I’d think they’ve already informed the three that will be cut though. Unless they are literally pushing the competition to the last minute.

That’s great news

Fitt/Reich at practice today with 55 players…

Everyone is taking JT’s summaries as gospel, but I disagree with him on multiple plays in this film. I typically love his breakdowns though. Play #2: He goes in on Theilen throttling down when it was the right call for the situation. AT throttled down just before coming into Young’s vision against zone coverage. He throttled so he wouldn’t run into the CB along the sideline. If he kept running full speed, there’s potential for a big hit as he makes the catch that could jeopardize the completion. Play #6: He wants Bryce to stick with the reads and find the in route to #83. He fails to mention there was a DLman in his grill when he hit the check down. He didn’t have time for the in route to develop, especially with a LB playing it underneath. Play #8: The miss from Bryce down the sideline. I don’t disagree with JT’s analysis of the play, but he fails to mention the DB is in phase with the targeted WR until the ball is released. It looks like a bad miss after the DB bites on the drag route, but the ball was already thrown at that point making it a “throw it where only your guy can catch it” pass. Still a miss, but not as bad as it seemed at first glance. On the completion to Theilen when he fell going out of bounds: JT trashes Theilen for the fall, but >95% of WRs are going out of bounds on that play. He caught the ball halfway between the numbers and the sideline in a full sprint. That leaves no room to turn and go. Only option is to decelerate, then go which wasn’t available due to the trailing DB. I love JT’s breakdowns and trust his opinions on QB play. But Theilen knows far more about playing WR than JT knows about playing QB. It came across like Theilen had stole his girl at some point in life. Yes, Theilen isn’t a burner and he had a drop in the game. He also had 4 catches for 48 yards and a TD in ~one quarter of play. Theilen has never had breakaway speed, but that didn’t stop him from becoming a top tier WR. Also, Bryce is a stud.

#Tank4Williams or #Tank4Maye I really hope neither end up in the NFCS. Especially Drake.
