Mims played pretty good at WR for a rookie, Becton played pretty good at LT as a Rookie, add Watson and it wouldn't' take much at all. They could easily add a big time WR in free agency if they wanted. Somebody like Galladay, Robinson, or Godwin.

Its easy to make excuses for him since he plays for Jets, and to blame the coaching and players around him, but stats like this make me nervous.

They have 5 first round picks over the next three years, they can give up draft picks and still be in decent shape as far as draft capitol goes, better than us. They also have the 3rd most cap space this offseason in what should be a buyers market. They also look to have hit on their 1st rounder last year, a LT, and we all know how hard that is to find. I know their history isn't good but if he buys into the current front office and the new coach they are actually in a good spot as far as resources go.

Pretty confident in saying most scouting departments have ballpark grades on a lot of the guys a year out. Not sure if that is really a huge tactical advantage. Predicting what any team does on draft night is impossible, draft night is so fluid, one move ahead of you can have a trickle down affect that changes your entire draft. Maybe if they were picking one spot ahead of us he could make an educated guess on what they would do but not a huge deal with respective draft positions. He will have some insight on the type of players they value, but honestly Schneider and Carroll have been there so long most teams probably already know that. I want to say they value SPARQ alot, could be wrong. Maybe one of his previous scouts had been talking about some small school "gem", but even that is rare. Very few good players really fall through the scouting cracks.

IMO any package of picks that includes includes a pick this year that could let them draft a QB they really like would be more appealing to them than a package that does not. You at least need to give your fanbase some hope, they are going to be upset enough about losing Watson if it happens. At #4 Atlanta could potentially have a very valuable pick depending on how the board falls and depending on how Houston views the 2-3 QBs after Trevor. Maybe Houston decides that they Fields is the clear #2 QB, what if Fields falls to Atlanta's spot. Maybe Atlanta could put together a really attractive trade package. The cap math would be interesting, also I'm not sure if Houston would want Ryan or not. They could take him and let him start for a year or two? Outside of the Jets there is a good chance they wait to draft night to do anything if they do decide to do something. The value of the Dolphins, Falcons, and even our 1st round pick with be somewhat dependent on how the board falls. With the Jets pick they pretty much know they can have any QB outside of Trevor, they might not end up with the QB they really want.

I like Moore more than Brown but Brown has more time on rookie deal. Cap saved is cap I can spend to upgrade a different position.

So Denver and Philly are organizations you would prefer to be like? Ok By your reasoning Dilfer is better than Cam?

CMC, Jackson, Chinn, Moore, Brown, Burns would be the order I would offer

here again name better teams over the past 10 and KCs success has been recent, and they are as dependent on a QB as anyone. Bills, here again short term success, although I like their model, here again QB dependent. You can't criticize Seattle for living off of their QB and then name two teams who success is directly attributed to their play. Newsflash, really good teams tend to have really good QB play

best way to win the Super Bowl is to give yourself a chance every year, as a fan that is pretty much all you can ask for. After that there is some luck involved, look at the Bills that lost 4 straight, or Eli and the Giants that won 2. You can't count on hot streaks or predict them, but you can build consistency and then you hope the hot streak happens. If you don't like their model of success who exactly do you like? Outside of the Patriots of course?

Here again how many teams were better than them over the last 10 years, last 5? The list is small. Also they were constantly better than us than when we had Cam. They also won a SB more recently than us. You cant count on outlier single years, as a fan you should want your team to be good year in and year out. To make the playoffs almost every year. They have done that for the past 5-10 years as well as almost anyone. For a franchise that has never had back to back winning records their history should be exactly what we are trying to be.

What is their winning percentage the last 10 years? last 5 years? and how does that compare to everyone else in the league.

Saints are good because of their drafting, its allowed them to stay competitive while being in "cap hell" Their 2017 draft is probably one of the best draft of all time, that didn't' include a QB. 4 all pro level players on rookie deals goes a long way

I would think that everyone of those conversations also talked about QB at some point. Not just what we should do but also trying to gain insight into what other teams might be doing. Not that the other candidates are going to give away confidential information but any information is a plus.

I remember reading a tweet by Jeremiah early in the year, before Wilson moved up, that he had just watched a handful of games on all 3 guys, Trevor, Fields, and Lance, and that Lance was every bit as impressive. He has been high on Lance for awhile.

Also the further you get down the draft the bigger the tiers become. It might go something like: 1 > 2-7 > 8-15 > 16 -36 > 37-70> 71-120 When multiple players are left on your board in the same tier is when you really start to consider trading down. A huge questions for us is how the QBs are going to be ranked. Is one of them clearly in another tier than the other two? Also you get a lot more variance among how teams have said players rated. One teams 5th rounder can be another teams 7th rounder. I always find it amusing when fans talk about their team reaching late in the draft. At that point its almost impossible to really decide what a reach is.

This might be our best chance to really move up and take advantage of the really high pick we have this year. A lot of years its not practical to move up to pick 2 or 3 even if you want. Having pick 8 gives us that chance. All of this is really going to be decided by how they grade Wilson, Fields, and Lance. If you like Wilson a lot, more than the other two guys, you trade up. If you think they are close you stay put and keep your picks, or you just trade up to 5. As fan we tend to get this opinion that one of the is a lot better than the others, I would think Wilson would be that for most people. In reality there is a chance they might fall in love with Lance. You have to remember the Seahawks fell in love with Wilson. Speaking of Wilson, the Seahawks do seem to do a good job of understand the draft as a whole and what other teams do. We always seemed in a hurry to get "our guy". I'm hoping that is different now.

I found that interesting also. Maybe that is more of a philosophical idea instead of something that happens in practicality. There is some thought in the analytical community that drafting QBs often is a good use of draft picks, since the reward is so high. Think about what QBs get on the trade market, think about how much teams spend on back up QBs. You sign a backup vet QB for $4m a year or draft a backup QB for $600k a year, maybe the backup plays a few times, looks decent and you trade him down the road for basically the same pick you used to draft him. Either way I would really be shocked if we truly drafted/acquired one every year? I guess we need to go back and look at what the Seahawks actually did.

Even with Cam we have always been inconstant, they have always pretty much always in the playoffs. If the difference between us and them is Wilson, does that mean Wilson was that much better than Cam?
