Where will the wins come from? (my early predictions)
PappyMay replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you could lock me in at 5 wins this year in real life after last year i’d take it. Means we were atleast marginally better. -
Would you rather have Beck or try and trade down for a kings ransom?
-
I still hope he can be the next Tua. But not sure how i feel about the next years class will be. Sanders you have to deal with the Media and his dad who wont want him here. Is Beck going to be the man? Ewers had to fight off a Freshman last year. Hoping if we pick high we can do a trade like the Bears did to us.
-
Not against it, but deep down really hoping we can get a vet come cut time at NT. Or if a guy looks like he may be cut we like trade one of our 2 7th rounders next year for him. I know we should build slowly but i have hopes of 7-8 wins this year somehow. I know I’m foolish. The last 10-12 spots will churn a ton over the next 2-3 months.

Could go really bad or really good off the rip. Hopefully Canales having the whole summer to plan for his former team would be an advantage. watch week 2 be our Thursday night game. Have Williams ok prime time early.
-
No reason he shouldn't be better. Upgraded both guard spots and all the new toys. Canales has shown he can get solid results with players at QB most the league had written off as journeyman. Also hoping Leggette/ Johnson can break a few short yard catches loose for big plays which people on the team last year couldn't do. Could help his stats look a little better. I'm not expecting a playoff run, but anything less than 6-7 wins and to show we are moving in the right direction i'll be truly sad. Grab us our lock down CB or Edge of the future picking in the back part of the top 10 is how I imagine this thing goes.

Panthers plan to revisit signing Stephon Gilmore after draft
PappyMay replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
#1 in the wavier wire. Maybe hold that until team camps and get out CB depth there. -
I wanted a center over Brooks, but he's here now so i'm jumping on board. Break him in with 5-6 touches a game and work him up to 15 or so by the end of the year. Put the miles on Chuba and Sanders so when walk away from them next year this kid can explode. Take Raheem Sanders in the 4th for a power back and lets keep this thing a going.
-
i also wanted Ladd myself, just now hoping for the best and Legette can be the next Deeboo. Take a screen and truck somoene. Bounce off a Nickel on slant and take it to the house. Just think he'll be physically more imposing than half the DB's he'll see out there.
-
his last extension was 2yrs 36 mil. If he balls out i dont see why he wouldnt be worth it. just got to trust our new cap genius can limit the effects. If everyone else in the room is on rookie deals having someone making 22 million isnt the end of the world. Hopefully Mingo improves.
-
I’m already thinking of a scenario where Johnson balls out and we extend him another year. Give him what he’s making now plus the 6 mil from cutting Sanders next year
-
with all the resources we've poured into our offense. Hunt, Lewis, Johnson, Leggette, Sanders, and Brooks. Half the offensive spots have improved and we have a coach who made Geno Smith and Baker look solid. If we can't get to 6 wins this season and show a little life I'll be disappointed. Really cheering for the kid though. Father and Brother in law both went to Bama so I've been watching and cheering for him for years.

The Panthers keep making the same mistakes under new GM.

I wanted them too, but there will be another starting caliber center next year when we are picking at 37. Going to take another year to build out this trash roster. Hopefully 2 years from now we don’t have to over pay to get guys here because they can see it’s trending the right way. -
I can see that. Work Brooks in with 5-7 Carrie’s a game while he recovers. Get him over double digits the back half of the season
-
Demani Richardson and Xavier Richardson. I don’t know much about these new Safety’s we have but this man started 5 years in the SC also I think Weaver looked decent when watching Colorado games before they flamed out.
-
Really shocked we didn’t get a center. Wouldn’t hate McGovern or Quessenberry as depth. Cheap 2 mil /1yr type contract.

I know it’s earlt but Dan THE MAN Morgan is IMPRESSING me
PappyMay replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is kind of how I feel. Just hoping Legette can break some quick screens/slants because he’s so physical and once Brooks recovers he’s our bell cow so next year can save money by cutting Sanders and using it elsewhere. -
I agree with Center, but OT this year I think is fine. Nijman from the Packers has over 20 starts there and Brady has a few there too. Center though is certainly worrisome.

Panthers Select Jaden Crumedy DT Mississippi, Pick 200 Round 6
PappyMay replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Was hoping for the Arkansas center here , but don’t hate it. Depth and hopefully he can learn behind Ashawn for 2 years then replace him and have a starter on a late round pick contract for 2 years. -
Panthers Select Jonathan Brooks RB - 46th Pick, Round 2
PappyMay replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can see this. But the fact we walked away with 3 weapons and LB to red shirt and replace Shaq next year plus getting us a 2nd next year I feel like already we could have done worse. Not screaming excitement but definitely don’t hate this draft. -
As long as we win 5+ games and he looks good bit better i want to see what else we can do as Dan and Dave build out this roster. Fully expecting another top 6-7 pick next year. But long as we are progressing I’m happy.

Panthers Select Trevin Wallace LB - Pick 72, Round 3
PappyMay replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was frustrated with the pick when there were 4 guys I’d of loved to have there at 65 still sitting there. But then I got to think surely Morgan knows how to pick a LB better than me. -
We got 52,155 and next years 2nd rounder
