Like many here are saying, we can't afford to give up assets to pay him that price. If he was a free agent. I'd be all for giving him 29 mil over giving Burns 29. But we are just too depleted of resources to trade for him. Just praying we hit on the next Tank Dell or Puka this year.
-
I'd rather see one more year of Young. Bryce is only 22 years old. I'm prepared to give him another year. If I'm the Commanders I probably wouldn't trade Howell. Solid backup QB for 500k a year. Hard to beat that even if he doesn't start.

i'd like that trade too. essentially two late first rounders since He was just taken at pick 30 last year. No reason he wouldnt atleast replace YGM.

Josina Anderson thoughts on the Burns situation
PappyMay replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If he’s wanting 30 I have to think whatever we can do with YGM and what I assume would be a late first rounder for him would be more beneficial to the team then giving him 30 mil a year. If he would have taken a Crosby type deal I’d of been all for him but he is over valuing himself. I’m sure if he goes to a contender he will be on prime time games getting even more praise so will make us look silly even if in reality it helped us rebuild. -

Agreed with what another posted. Let the players see how we handle business. Extend Brown and Luvu and they will get the message. I’m all for keeping him at 23-24mil I just don’t think it will happen. How can we say this guy deserves more than Crosby? I was one who wanted to pay him 27-28 last off season scared of him balling out in Evero’s defense but didn’t happen. Now not sure if he’s worth that. -
Getting Crunch Time for the Panthers and Brian Burns
PappyMay replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
this is how I feel exactly. Would love to get a 4th-6th too to take an extra flyer. -
I hope to trade down 3-7 picks and take BPA. We needs so much help. WR of course, IOL was so bad last year, but are we sure Corbett can stay healthy? Looking at linebacker has to be a concern. We so many holes with Burns/Luvu future, and Shaq getting old and coming off injury, aswell as YGM and Haynes being FA's. Then cornerback spot Horn can't healthy and although i've liked Jackson unless something is done with his contract i'd be shocked if this is not his last season here.( I really hope we can work out a 1-2yr deal with Troy Hill. Shy Tuttle didnt look like a stud last year and after this year you could walk away from his contract as well. Just totally gutted from 3 bad drafts in a row. Mid round RB or flyer couldn't hurt incase move on from Chuba and or Sanders after this season. The more I think of it the more I dont know how it can't be BPA. We are definitely looking at a 2-3yr rebuild.

Grab Burton in the 4th and let’s reunite this if we address another need in the 2nd.
-
Yes we need shifty route runners. I’m to the point where we may Aswell run two slot WRs and run a bunch of motion. Hope they can get leverage and make a play. Which I hope Canales and his scheme work for. We can win throwing 5-15yd passes if once awhile someone with some wiggle breaks one.
-
This is my exact thinking. McConkey, Mitchell, Franklin, or Worthy. Someone has to fall a bit. We need assets. Only way I wouldn’t trade down is maybe if Brian Thomas Jr or Keon Coleman slips to 33. Legette doesn’t excite me, 5th year big bodied WR. I want someone with shiftiness. But yes all for a trade down and LB in 3rd. It could be Shaq’s last year, maybe YGM and Haynes are both gone. Perhaps even Burns in a Tag and trade. LB is big question mark.
-
I’m all for getting better. But you’ve lobbied for Higgins, extending Burns, and now sign Jones. Each player would make this team better I agree. I just don’t see we do all of that. Even if have all 3 next year and solid draft we wouldn’t break 10 wins. Detroit turned it around quickly with the right hire and recent success in the draft. We just have to hope Morgan/Canales can do the same. It starts with extending Brown and Luvu then hopefully 2 contributing quality starters this draft.

I'd love Chris Jones, just dont know why he'd come here. I'd prefer him over Burns if we had to choose who to give money to.

Going to A Super Bowl Party? What panthers Jersey Are you Wearing?
PappyMay replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m rocking Panthers but don’t know what yet. Kuechly salute to service jersey, 47 brand Panthers sweater, or Nike drifit polo. I’m going to a place where I won’t know a ton of people so atleast the Panthers being bad can be a conversation starter sadly. -
Fowler, Graziano: Panthers want to re-sign Frankie Luvu
PappyMay replied to BlueBuck24's topic in Carolina Panthers
Luvu at 11/12mil gets me way more excited than paying 21+ for Burns. If we can make em both work im all for it but with such a depleted roster Luvu is the better bang for the buck. -
This is what a real super processor looks like...
PappyMay replied to GhostOfDocAnderson's topic in Carolina Panthers
No one thinks Bryce is better at this point. Not even down here in Alabama. We took the wrong QB but at some point you got to let it go and just hope Bryce progresses. I still wouldn’t have hate Bryce if he fell to #9. Just gave up too much to get him. Hindsight is always 20/20. -
They did play terrible. Unless I’m getting a 3rd though I find it hard to part with theilen. We have to put some type of product on the field worth watching. Even if it’s only 5-6 wins I’m not prepared for another 2 win season.

Is this the worst GM/Coach combo in Panthers history?
PappyMay replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
its crazy to see how depleted this roster is and how fast it got there over the last 3 years. Take away the Bryce trade and its still terrible. Just the God awful draft day trades and the misses that are so bad mid round picks are out the league in 2 years. I know Rhule and Frank sucks but I blame a majority of suck last 3 years on Fitterer now that I look back. -
I’m down to trade down but not past 40 if we can gain a 3rd or 4th. Troy Franklin, Ladd McConkey, Xavier Worthy, Adoni Mitchell, Keon Coleman, Brian Thomas Jr one of some of these guys will have to fall. Also Tvondre Sweat if we stick with a 3-4. Defense. We were terrible against the run so grab the biggest NT.
-
I do hope Luvu and Brown tie some of that up for us! fingers crossed. I hope the void years on some of these contracts of late is a thing of the past until we are actually a contender.
-
that 11.3 million is for 2025 season. Not this coming. We have 130 million in cap and by then can walk away from Hurst and Sanders so will go up even further. I'd take the gamble. If he plays good you can walk away from Djax and save another 5million if needed.

His average salary for his talent is a steal, but unless he demands a trade I don’t see why you’d trade him unless you got a haul of picks. With our lack of ammo I just can’t see how another team can’t offer a better package than us. Only realm of possibility is to get a first in a tag and trade for Burns and use that in the deal.
-
I’m not against taking a RB but I hope it’s not until the 5th round. We have too many other holes to address. Chubba is still under contract next year and Sanders’ contract makes it hard to walk away from until after next year. But have your #3 back start getting reps and learning the offense for the rebuild isn’t the worst thing.
-
Unless we are getting a 2nd rounder for him i think we have to see what he has in him to stay healthy. I'd love to sign Troy Hill to another 1 year deal. He looked serviceable.
-
It saves about 2 million in cap. If we draft one in the 4th/5th round I can see that happening.
