  1. Face it. Long as tepper is pulling the strings this team is never ever sniffing a NFC championship game again. Or maybe even a divisional championship for that matter.
  2. Around 1 p.m. Saturday, an official with the U.S. Forest Service, which is supporting recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene along with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, sent an urgent message to numerous federal agencies warning that “FEMA has advised all federal responders Rutherford County, NC, to stand down and evacuate the county immediately. The message stated that National Guard troops 'had come across x2 trucks of armed militia saying there were out hunting FEMA.’” “The IMTs [incident management teams] have been notified and are coordinating the evacuation of all assigned personnel in that county,” the email added. Two federal officials confirmed the authenticity of the email, though it was unclear whether the quoted threat was seen as credible. The National Guard referred questions to FEMA when asked about the incident. One Forest Service official coordinating the Helene recovery said responders moved to a “safe area” and at least some work in that area — which included clearing trees off dozens of damaged and blocked roads to help search-and-rescue crews, as well as groups delivering supplies — was paused. The setback is one of the latest examples of growing concerns about safety and security in western North Carolina, where many towns were almost wiped off the map after the historic hurricane made landfall two weeks ago. In the weeks since, misinformation and rumors have made the recovery more difficult, targeting multiple federal agencies operating as part of the recovery. Federal officials such as the secretary for the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA’s director of public affairs have been the target of antisemitic attacks. Chimney Rock, in Rutherford County, has become one of the centers of tension and conflict after a rumor spread on social media that government officials planned to seize the decimated village and bulldoze bodies under the rubble. Authorities and news outlets debunked the assertion, but people still took to social media imploring militias to go after FEMA. 3. Lets see what I can find on the roku channel ................
  4. Come on bro. No way 99% of us are going to seek out this book and actually read it. Just tell us who it is/was. Also what is your opinion as to why they would write this "book" ? To try to polish the turd of a reputation they had ?
  5. You want the truth ? Some folks can't handle it ( the truth) but read this article. Category 5 Milton poses an exceptionally serious threat to Florida's west coast » Yale Climate Connections
  6. Might have nothing to do with the storm. I routinely get at least half a dozen of those sorts of texts and/ or pre recorded calls a week, sometimes 3 or 4 a day. Been blocking and reporting as spam for months but it seems to do no good.
  7. There is a shitton of maintenance to keep military helicopters flying safely and it might be a maintenance heavy day. The crews need time to decompress and rest as well.
  8. So I missed Bryce's big come back while I was out enjoying the beautiful day ?
  9. At this point it looks like it will be pushed to the eastnortheast after passing over Florida. Tampa Bay region looks like they could take another bad hit. Still early though so anything is possible. From the 10 am NHC discussion - The depression is forecast to quickly intensify while it moves eastward to northeastward across the Gulf of Mexico and be at or near major hurricane strength when it reaches the west coast of the Florida Peninsula mid week.
  10. Good idea but good luck. Developers that control the legislature and county officials will make sure of that. If they can make money off of someone else's future misery they just don't gaf. My county commissioners for example - 4 out of the 5 have direct ties to real estate and/or developers. They are approving and building huge developments in wetlands and flood prone areas with no consideration to where the water is going in the next big storm down here. We had an un named storm here about 3 weeks ago, that washed out multiple roads in my county and I know for a fact that one of the washouts right down the road from me is directly attributable to a development that went in since Florence. Its similar in the state legislature from what I read. All across the country they keep building on beaches and other areas they know damn well they shouldn't. The only way to stop it that I can see is to stop government subsidizing of flood insurance for new construction. But good luck with that too.
  11. I had been thinking the same thing. I am no engineer but it seems like the only way to fix some of those will entail some major work with bulkheads, tie backs, etc. Certainly nothing cheap nor fast. This is gong to take many years to come back from and is going to be not only a humanitarian but a financial disaster for the western part of NC.
  12. Just curious as to how that footage was shot ? Another copter ? Drone? As an aside I hope there are no incidents with the responders - heard on some news source that there have been over a hundred " close calls" of deployed air assets thus far.
  13. I've been keeping honeybees for about 30 years- after Floyd dropped about 30 inches on us in 99, several of my hives were attacked and robbed out by yellow jackets. Even the nasties have to eat and they'd been run out of their holes/nests and food stores.
  14. I know a guy who knows a first responder from outside Asheville. The first responder told him they haven't even begun searching in a lot of areas and there are hundreds of un identified bodies already. I hope it isn't, but I have a feeling that unfortunately it is true. Really sad.
