  1. I was also listening to The Athletic podcast a few days ago and they said trading back could be particularly difficult in this draft because it's not seen as a top-heavy draft. Of course all it takes is one team to fall in love with a guy, but trading back isn't near as easy as the PFF draft machine would lead you to believe.
  2. I think he always wanted to try the NFL, but I think even at this point he realizes he's in over his head. We already know he looked into a few college jobs again already.
  3. Just the entire circumstances around keeping Rhule seem so bizarre. Tepper has been great about listening to fans so far. Signing E Reid, re-signing Cam, etc. But the entire fanbase has never been unified as we are right now. Everyone can see that this is a lame duck administration. I think for me, the sheer lack of any sort of improvement anywhere is all you need to see. The team has objectively gotten worse over the past 48 months. I don't think anyone expected this to be a playoff team, but you do certainly expect to see some improvement by the end of year two and we've only seen the opposite. What is his long game here? Does he really want to just throw in the towel next year and start fresh with a new coaching staff and new QB (Young, Stroud)? If that is the plan... it may not be the worst I've ever heard. I'd really like to know what he's thinking deep down, because there's no way he thinks this is salvageable. Also, just because he struck out on his first coaching hire does not mean he is a bad owner! Even the best organizations miss on coaches all the time. I liked the Rhule hire when it happened, completely supported it and thought he'd build a winning culture and draft well. Sometimes you just miss, happens to everyone. What makes one a bad owner is clinging to a lost cause, like what is currently happening here.
  4. I had hope up until like Thursday but clearly the ship has sailed. Joe Person and Jonathan Jones have both said he's back this weekend
  5. Preach, I could have been sold slightly if you got Pep here but that’s not going to happen. I also firmly believe if you commit to a guy like that you have to build in a similar fashion, aka the next draft your first pick better be WR or OL
  6. I’ve just started watching film, but reading scouting reports the information makes these two seem very similar. Late-bloomers, not elite arm strength but surgical precision and accuracy with just enough athleticism to make plays out of the pocket. I’m just wondering what really separates them? Like, why couldn’t Pickett be a similar player if he lands in a good situation?
  7. I mean, at any point this week if we had actually created an opening.
  8. Also, congrats Tepper. The QB of your dreams is getting away because he wants to play for the coach you could have hired.
  9. Panthers related for obvious reasons: amidst talks that Carolina will try for Watson again, it all means nothing if there’s another viable suitor that clearly has more assets to work with.
  10. As someone that’s a huge soccer fan and follows the game religiously how on earth can we come to that conclusion lol
  11. We can only hope he’s waiting to see how this OC “search” is going and if it’s not up to his standard he’s gonna get rid of him. Basically just hoping he hasn’t made up his mind yet
  12. If you listen to "The Roar" they have really good analysis and reasoning as to why Rhule could still get fired. None of them have any sources, pure speculation. But there are layers to this and they make a convincing case that this might not quite be over yet.
  13. When Rhule was hired, he reported early that the Panthers were in Waco but Rhule had an interview with the Giants lined up also so if Carolina fell in love they do want him getting on the plane. That’s exactly how things turned out.
  14. Also, since Tepper has been running the show Glazer seems to have a better pulse on our team than anyone else
  15. That was a totally different era of football
  16. Gonna be difficult having a "real" search for a job that no one wants. Anyone can see the writing on the wall, this is a lame duck job. Whoever does take it shouldn't even bother with signing a lease, just get a hotel in uptown for a few months because it won't last long.
  17. He’s getting head coaching interviews. Why tf would you leave Bama OC for this job lol
  18. I’m terribly afraid this is how things are going to shake out. But you’re absolutely right - there’s no way Rhule rolls into next season with Sam. And the best way to lure the fanbase back in is by drafting a first round QB “ooh shiny.” But please, for the love of God Tepper, don’t let a lame duck coach mortgage our future for Watson. even if they take Pickett and he’s bad you can just draft someone else in a year or two
  19. I could definitely see it being a Rosen -> Murray situation. Would be deeply unfair for the QB chosen here. Rhule will be gone by Thanksgiving imo
  20. I swear people are just making these threads to piss me off at this point. Our offense is historically bad. Historically we’ve prioritized defense first and that’s the reason we’ve never had back to back winning seasons. Will we ever learn from our mistakes?
  21. Homie… I’m a teacher in NC and I have PSL’s. It’s one of my largest expenses every year.
