No lies to be seen anywhere.

Why exactly is the Cincinnati OC not getting interviews?
-
I will say, and I’m not sure how much of a worry this should be, but I hope we don’t rush and settle on a hire just to get someone in here. Like, if Steichen is your guy just be patient and let him finish his playoff run.
-
Yeah especially since they haven’t met face to face with some candidates. I’m not sure how much that matters to teams though.
-
Yeah if he ends up being the guy we’ll be able to figure it out before an announcement is made though. Before KS went to SF and KOC to MIN it couldn’t become official until after the SB but everyone knew it was happening. And if we like him enough I hope we are patient because both of those hires have worked out pretty well I’d say,
-
I’d be more worried if any other team had made a hire yet. But this poo just seems like it takes longer than it used to.
-
I’ve said this the whole time lmao. I’m yet to figure out why Sean can’t pick the job he wants then go back to the Saints and be like “either you take this for this team or I’m going back to TV” lol
-
Seems like such an obvious fit in terms of resume/what we need/what Tepper wants so I’m sure we will fug it up
-
Steichen is cooking sheesh
-
I'd argue we have pretty large holes still at WR, DE, TE, CB, S and DT.
-
We obviously could use another CB and especially a DE. So can't say I would be mad. But man if we dip back into the FA pool for a QB I hope it's actually a bridge QB like Detroit has done with Goff. Like someone like Garoppolo I can deal with because you know what you're getting. He has major limitations, but also does enough well that you can build an offense around. Give me someone like that while stacking the rest of the talent with roster while you wait to really pounce on a franchise QB. Basically, please don't give draft capital for a reclamation project like Lance or Love. That is too risky for us. Get someone that you know can be competent in the right scheme.
-
I just can't imagine he'd be open to coming here. If he's going to get traded it's going to be to a team that he thinks can win the SB next year. Even if we get everything right that ain't us. It'd be to someone like the Jets, Rams, Dolphins maybe?

Lawrence has an absolute bazooka

I mean, what even is the percentage of coaches that last more than 5 years in one spot? This poo is fuging hard. Of course we aren’t in a great spot right now, that’s why we are hiring a coach in the first place. But acting like this is a uniquely bad situation I just don’t get. Yes we don’t have a QB but that is very normal with these openings. We’re in a bad division, with plenty of draft choices, and in a decent spot in regards to the cap.
-
If we really really want to go galaxy brain maybe Steichen is the guy and Tepper knows he’s got more important things to focus on himself this weekend anyways.
-
If any coach truly wants this job I can’t imagine they look at this action from Tepper and decide they don’t want to be patient. Anyone with a shroud of human decency will understand this.
-
Yeah, I’m sure he does

Usually teams really good like the Bills and Eagles are still looking for things to complain about so they turn to their coordinators as easy targets. I have even seen Eagles fans complain about Steichen. But with the Bills you already have a psychotic fanbase and they are ride or die with their QB. Allen is obviously brilliant but he’s not perfect. He’s still prone to very questionable decision making at times. Is Dorsey surfing a rather easy wave? Sure. But it’s also still his first year and he will improve. Maybe he’s not ready but if he has a strong vision for the future of the team hiring him wouldn’t be egregious.

Regarding point 2 I’ll put up with 15 years of mediocrity for just one ring.
-
Seifert inherited the best roster in the league when he got to SF. Payton took over the leagues laughing stock and turned it into a 15-year juggernaut. Plenty of coaches have done well at multiple stops. Parcels the best example, and Pederson is currently killing it in Jacksonville. I don’t worry too much about that - Payton has proven he’s one of the best in the world at doing this.
-
His age is a bit overblown imo. Not even 60 yet he could easily coach 10+ more years.
-
Yup. I fail to see what’s stopping him from just telling New Orleans it’s Carolina or bust this cycle. I think his deal has two years left so they could call his bluff and force him to wait it out till next year if it’s a shabby return. But I’m not sure they’ll want to chance that.
-
I totally get the skepticism surrounding Payton and I also understand straight up not wanting him. But I do wonder if he has more leverage than we think. If he’s decided that this is the job he wants, he can hold the Saints hostage a bit. They’re obviously going to want to get something for him - and if this is the job he wants he can tell them he’s only taking the Carolina job. So he can say it’s that or he’ll just wait out his contract the next year or two to where they wouldn’t get anything for him.
-
It won’t be that much
-
He literally just scrolls down and tweets exactly what blue checks say lol
