3 straight NFCS titles and 15-1 wasn’t a bad stretch. May have gotten back to the top had Cam not gotten injured. Mistakes were made, yes, but Wilks isn’t Rivera. He is his own self who really hasn’t been given a fair shake with his own plan. 1 year in AZ with that roster? Taking over for a failure of a coach here? Things may look much different if he is given a fair shot.

Good example of a flashy new OC not working out.
-
There are many successful coaches who were not popular. The Eagles current head coach is an example.
-
With those 2 coordinators, he just needs to “lead men”. Look, I’d prefer Payton, but not at the cost.Steichen is a maybe, but far from a guarantee. It’s a tough decision. Any of these young OCs are unproven as leaders of an entire team.

My preference has shifted to a Wilks/Reich/Fangio combo. Tell Wilks he can have the job, but Holcomb has to go. I like the idea of Payton, but I like the thought of getting our future franchise QB more. That may take a trade up, which will be hindered by giving away picks for SP.
-
Not sure Wilks gets to keep Holcomb if he stays, though I realize he prefers that. If I’m Tepper and settle on Wilks, he would need to hire 2 new coordinators. Something along the lines of Reich and Fangio would work.
-
Thank you. I was going to request that happen.
-
If Payton isn't coming here, the best scenario for the Panthers is for him to return to the booth. Hurts New Orleans the most.
-
You can interview him after Sunday. He does not have to wait until the SB.
-
Not sure, but I don’t think there is a rule like that. Wilks was interim so he is essentially a free agent right now.
-
Probably as good a guess as any.
-
He is most likely using one or the other - if not both - to try to get what he wants. I mean, he wore a Panthers-colored tie last night but had Broncos-colored shoes. LOL
-
Sounds like posturing to me. Payton trying to put pressure on Tepper to make his best move now.
-
Fangio probably not going back to Denver. If he did, I would snatch Evero up with the quickness; dude is a star in the making. Wilks probably not going to have a choice of who his next DC is IF he gets offered the position.
-
Wilkes, Reich, and Fangio would be intriguing, especially with a new QB.
-
We could still interview Steichen and agree on terms of a contract, which would effectively end our search.
-
We cleared the requirement with Caldwell and Evero. The requirement is 2 external candidates (in-person).
-
Anyone still coaching cannot interview again until 1/30.
-
If Payton and the Panthers don’t come to terms, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him wait another year.
-
Romo and Olsen are both really good, but I’m partial to 88.
-
Panthers went in there and took it from the Eagles in 2004
-
We haven’t interviewed him yet

Happy for CMC, but they have an uphill climb next week. Not sure the 49ers can score enough to keep pace with the Eagles, though their defense may keep them in it.

Mr Scot wants to stay married so he will not do that.
