  1. There's a big difference between us and the Seahawks regarding cap space. We have been steadily climbing our way out of salary cap hell the past 3 years. The Seahawks have been in good cap health. We had $19M in dead money in 2014 and $12M dead money this year. The space we get back from the dead money will cover 3-4 of those guys. It will also help big time not having to pay CJ $20M, Kalil $11.8M, and Stewart $8.3M like we have to this year. The Seahawks aren't getting that type of cap relief in the near future.
  2. You can maintain a Super Bowl contending roster while paying your stars big money. You need to draft really well and consistently well. Noteworthy Seahawks drafted prospects 2010 - 2012: Russell Okung, Earl Thomas, Golden Tate, Walter Thurmond, Kam Chancellor, KJ Wright, Richard Sherman, Byron Maxwell, Malcolm Smith, Bruce Irvin, Bobby Wagner, Russell Wilson, Robert Turbin, Jeremy Lane, JR Sweezy It's like our 2014 draft multiplied by 3. And the majority of these guys were on dirt cheap contracts. The Seahawks 2013 and 2014 drafts are nowhere near that caliber and I wasn't particularly impressed with their 2015 draft, besides Tyler Lockett. Combine this with stars getting paid big money and Marshawn Lynch turning 29 this year (only 1-2 years of elite play left). Seahawks will still be a force, but they won't be that overwhelmingly dominant force anymore.

  4. When it comes to the Panthers, the national sports media is still stuck on the Panthers that started Bell, Silatolu, Velasco,Chandler, Cotchery, Avant, Reaves/Ogbannya, DeCoud, Cason, Godfrey (not to mention CJ and Cam both played hurt). They are fixated on the mid-season Panthers that lost 6 games and were getting blown out every other game. Unless your team has made a splashy move or 2 in free agency, the media pretty much bases predictions for the next season based off performance in the previous season. We are flying under the radar, and I love it.
  5. I'm not sure if Melvin White is eligible for the practice squad. So, Byndom is most expendable on that list because of his lack of special teams value. I think Peters is just a better CB than Byndom and possibly White, so he has a very good chance of making the 53 man roster.
  6. This was the 53 man roster at the beginning of the 2014 season:http://www.panthers.com/news/article-2/Breaking-down-the-53-man-roster/f8b6396f-4ac3-4bc5-b3d3-97deec514f5a I don't think Joe Webb, Jericho Cotchery, Brandon Williams, and Richie Brockel are making this year's 53, leaving 4 spots open for new guys. My prediction is we'll carry 4 RBs along with Tolbert at FB. Fozzy is a keeper because of his value in the screen game (playoff TD). Todman is also a keeper because of his kick return value and because his quickness complements Stew/Tolbert. As for the other 3 openings, we will probably carry an extra LB (7 total) and an extra DB (10 total). LB: Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis, Shaq Thompson, AJ Klein, Adarius Glanton, Jason Trusnik, David Mayo DB: Josh Norman, Charles Tillman, Bene Benwikere, Melvin White, Carrington Byndom, Garry Peters, Teddy Williams, Tre Boston, Roman Harper, Colin Jones, Kurt Coleman. Ted Ginn, Jordan Todman, Jason Trusnik, David Mayo, and Teddy Williams all have special teams value.
