  1. Gettleman, Mar 12: "In this day and age, you've got to have a guy that can take the top off the coverage. Corey (Brown) has the speed to do it, and he did it for us once we inserted him in the lineup last year. But what's wrong with having two guys who can do it? http://www.panthers.com/news/article-2/Panthers-keeping-key-personnel/9bc5a390-f8d4-42df-bcd6-4543c661c80d Fox Sports: GET FASTER. Gettleman and head coach Ron Rivera, who spoke before Gettleman did, each acknowledged that the team is slow and needs to gain speed across the board, especially at wide receiver. "Ron and I have talked the last couple days, and we'd like to get faster," Gettleman said. "We need more speed" http://www.foxsports.com/carolinas/story/carolina-panthers-gm-dave-gettleman-looking-for-speed-in-offseason-011315 Panthers.com: NEED FOR SPEED: Upgrading team speed is a priority this offseason. Gettleman and Rivera both made that clear. "We'd like to get faster," Gettleman said. "We need more speed." http://www.panthers.com/news/article-2/Gettleman-proud-of-Panthers/473d065b-5317-4c79-9aa6-a50540c03dd9 Panthers beat writer for ESPN David Newton: Primary need: Speed. “We need more speed,’’ Gettleman said. My take? Pretty obvious, find more speed. Gettleman mentioned the draft will be strong at wide receiver again. Finding a receiver with elite speed to put opposite Kelvin Benjamin..at No. 25 would be a nice fit. http://espn.go.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/11837/reading-beteween-lines-of-ron-rivera-dave-gettleman?src=mobile Voth: When asked how the Panthers need to improve, adding speed was the prevalent answer from Gettleman and coach Ron Rivera. ... look for the Panthers to add faster guys to the receiving corps http://blackandbluereview.com/dave-gettleman-intriguing-comments/ but see Mar 24: Gettleman said: “We’ve addressed the speed wide receiver spot." http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article16197296.html
  2. ESPN: "Dorsett opted to dazzle coaches, general managers and scouts one more time with his blazing speed and good hands. He officially ran a 4.25 and 4.27 during a pair of 40-yard dashes, performed good routes and didn't gave any drops during passing drills. ... Dorsett's two sprints Wednesday morning created a buzz from NFL personnel and onlookers. I saw several scouts looking at each other's stopwatches to make sure they had the right sub-4.3 time after Dorsett crossed the finish line." http://espn.go.com/blog/miami-dolphins/post/_/id/14116/wr-phillip-dorsett-shines-at-hurricanes-pro-day
  3. Ginn was injured at the Combine so didn't run, but at his Pro Day ran a 4.38 Philly ran a 4.51 at Combine then 4.52 at Pro Day Especially considering that Ginn turns 30 in 2 weeks, those two aren't even in the same stratosphere as Dorsett when it comes to speed
  4. His stock is on the rise: He ran a 4.33 at the Combine. He just ran 4.27 and 4.24 today at his Pro Day Todd McShay @ McShay13 3h Miami WR Phillip Dorsett ran two 40 times of 4.27 and 4.24 at miami's Pro Day this am. Sudden, explosive, under ctrl and caught everything NFL.com Lindsay Rhodes @ lindsay_rhodes 5h Miami WR Phillip Dorsett clocks 4.26 in 40. (Ran 4.33 at combine). Also adds an inch to his vert w/ a 38, and 7 inches to his broad- 10'9. ESPN David Newton @ DNewtonespn 2h That's the kind of speed the #Panthers are seeking. ESPN James Walker @ JamesWalkerNFL 4h #Hurricanes WR Phillip Dorsett is catching the ball well and running good routes South Florida Sun-Sentinel Omar Kelly @ OmarKelly 46m I was asked if I'd seen a better Pro Day at Miami than what Phillip Dorsett did today. I can't even think of any contenders. That impressive
  5. ESPN Tania Ganguli @ taniaganguli 5h Mel Kiper singled out Phillip Dorsett last week when I asked for the draft's most versatile receivers. Called him underrated.

  13. Greg Gabriel, who was a scout for Giants 1985-2001 before spending 9 years as Director of College Scouting for the Bears (2002-2010): from his prospect focus on Jake Fisher: "Jake Fisher from Oregon is a left tackle... Since the season ended, his value has shot up. I think one of the reasons is that once the coaches got involved in the process, they saw more to Fisher’s game than some scouts did. ... When you watch tape, it jumps out that he is very well coached. He has very good snap reaction, keeps his back straight in pass protection, and does an excellent job using his hands. Right now, he is a better pass blocker than a run blocker... I see his best fit as a left tackle in a zone scheme. ... The player he reminds me of from an athletic and size point of view is OT Lane Johnson who was the fourth overall pick in the 2013 draft to the Eagles. While he isn’t as talented as Johnson was he has the same type of game. It wouldn’t surprise me if Fisher went in the lower part of the first round, but I feel it is more likely that he goes in the early second." http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/nfp-prospect-focus-jake-fisher-and-a-j-cann/ note Lane Johnson rated as Pro Football Focus' second-best right tackle in the NFL and only allowed one sack and two hits in 909 snaps http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2015/01/eagles_lane_johnson_rated_second_best_right_tackle_in_nfl_by_pro_football_focus.html Johnson was named to Pro Football Focus' All-Pro Team along with Eagles' left tackle Jason Peters. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/01/05/2014-pff-all-pro-team/
  14. Weren't the Bears one of the teams getting a CB mocked to them? If the Bears getting Ball helps a Trae Waynes fall to us, then we came out the winners
  15. Jennings would be heaven. David Newton @ DNewtonespn Mar 24 #Panthers GM says team still has WR Greg Jennings and CB Alan Ball in play.
  16. Vikings sign a 6-foot-9, 351 pound OT from Poland, who has been playing in Poland's professional football league, named Babatunde Aiyegbusi Adam Patrick @ Str8_Cash_Homey 2m Newest #Vikings signee Babatunde Aiyegbusi is just throwing people around like rag dolls
  17. I'm not saying Crowder is like Smitty, but I've recently been seeing a variety of posters dismissing a variety of great prospects recently because they are "too small." Smitty was small in college too (and he basically redshirted his whole rookie season in the NFL getting bigger). Like Smitty got bigger, these small prospects will too
