I'm beginning to think they are more likely to trade down than trade up.
We can only hope this mob rule mentality doesnt prevail.Trading down would be more beneficial.

that is not the topic here... if you think every team in the NFL does the "right" thing... then i have some pretty interesting stories to share with you.... Let's start with HoF'r Ray Lewis.
it's my point here.

If the plan is Carr and rookie QB we are in trouble.
Carr needs weapons!
This man had the best WR and a top 5 TE in Las Vegas and they still wasn't that great on offense. Could you imagine Carr with DJ as his only weapon?
I will say it again if we sign Carr use those first 2 picks in the draft on a WR and TE.
Or O-line,LB,WR, and then TE...this draft is deep at TE through the 4th rd .Less so at WR.
WE could also pick up a qb in later rds...A continuation combo of Tank Dell and Clayton Tune
sounds interesting to me. Get Skoronski at 9 and LB in 2nd.FA would change this but if we get carr how much could we spend on fa after that?

Well, I will first say that while I’d rather us find the right rookie. That said, if we sign Carr then I’d rather not spend a 1st or 2nd on a QB. If we sign Carr, we made a multi-year commitment so try and make the team around him as good as possible not the QB bench.
He had a great running game and Adams. I wonder if Renfroe and Waller being hurt for most of the season. They went from 1700-1800 combined yards in 2019-2021 to 700 combined yards. Outside of check downs to Jacobs, forcing the ball to Adams was he main option and probably led to the drop in completion % and rise in interception %. That doesn’t bode that well with our lack of weapons outside DJ, hence the call for a TE and WR early.
I dont like these rookies but it is sensible to do one way or the other but not both scenarios at same time. I think the issues with Carr were with his Coach and chemistry. That could be my bias though because I do not like McDaniels at all.

I would be absolutely shocked if we both traded up to draft a QB AND signed Derek Carr. I definitely think those two scenarios are either or.
Makes more sense that way.

Yes it does. If he isn’t charged with manslaughter, nfl teams won’t blink an eye drafting him.
It doesnt at all...right and legal are separate matters. How teams react doesnt make it right.

They are going to trade that pick for the best offer they get. The GM needs a lot of picks and they are telling everyone that are listening to make offers for it. They've been contacted by nearly half the league about what it will cost them. I doubt one defensive player is going to make them turn down multiple 1st and 2nd round picks and more. You do the math and tell me where this is going.
Thats the best use of #1 this draft.

I think his talent outweighs a charge for racing. Although it led to someone's death, and that is extremely unfortunate. I dont believe teams will see this as criminal activity or risk to his involvement in the league.
Players do not get suspended for racing or reckless driving. It doesn't outweigh someone dead.

Stay at 9 and hope one falls. If not give Matt Corral a try. And Clayton Tune is a sleeper.
Love this...

Sure looks like the top 4 QBs could be off the board by pick 8. We will have to trade up regardless
No we dont have to at all.

The best QB from this class won't be one of the top four picked.
I could definitely see that happening.

Im fine with either of the 4 QB's honestly.
Draft them and develop them. I like having the "unknown" factor when it comes to these QB's.
We already know what these vet QB's are.
These vets are already better than these "unknowns", we know that. The unkown angle just gives a built in excuse when they dont work out.

Bet your savings on it, bet the house on it.
Stop making threads about Carr, Lamar, Fields.
They've gathered some picks for ammo.
Our GM is a trade happy wheel and dealer.
Our owner is a trigger pulling risk taker.
Our staff is designed to draft and develop a QB.
Nobody has mentioned that the guys on our roster are the answer.
The team knows what the fans want, and they know the time is now.
The social media has constant content on QB prospects and mock drafts. They always tip their hand.
Who are they trading up for and which spot? What will they give up? Nobody knows yet. But it is 100% happening. I have never been more confident about their intentions to do something.
The sooner you realize this is 100% happening, the sooner we can move on from discussing retreads, the sooner we can stop whining about the pros and cons of doing this.
It is happening, let it happen. Get ready. No I will not charge you for the gambling advice. Lock of the century boys.
Mayb so, but we will suffer for that mistake.

The Chiefs won this Superbowl because of a defensive TD. Mahomes only had 180 some odds passing.
Rams win the year before in a low scoring game via defense
All anomalies...lol

Won't work well enough. The game has changed. It favors the offense. You try to build a defense like that and roll with a mediocre QB and you're going to get rolled more often than not.
That Ravens team and season was an anomaly. We rarely see a defense dominate with mediocre QB play because it just doesn't work except in rare circumstances.
Defense doesn't win championships anymore.
Because there arent any defenses like that. The mindset and focus has changed, not the principles. The point isnt a mediocre qb, its the desperation and squandering whole team building on a Qb.You can have a great Qb and a great defense and a great oline at the same time if you do things with logic and patience.logic and patience isnt throwing away picks overcand over to hut on a qb.This is especially true in certain weak drafts and this draft is one if those.

That was 20 years ago.
It's 2023 my friend. Also you realize that Ravens defense was arguably the best defense in NFL history?
Defense was so great it has a 30 for 30 about them. Sheesh!
Yes I realize that..too bad they couldnt win in this era.
