They won’t get the chance to make that decision this year
-
No surprise and also doesn’t mean much in my opinion. If SP goes to the Broncos it’s because of the $$. They’re in a worse situation than us having mortgaged their future for a QB who is absolute ass and they’re stuck with on an albatross contract. SP could certainly get more out of him than Hackett but I still don’t see them as an appealing situation to try to build a winner. But if Walmart wants him they can pay the big bucks…

Melo. Anyone else can go, although Mark is very exciting and Bridges is probably worth trying to keep as a reclamation project on a cheaper contract. I'm not sure I like anyone else on the team on the court that much. PJ, Cody, Jalen are solid players but I wouldn't hesitate to move any of them for a good deal. Rozier is a good player but doesn't fit our timeline or with Melo in my opinion and he should 100% be traded soon. Hayward is similar with health issues added so he should be traded too. Plumlee is a fine backup C for a middle of the road team but keeping him around just keep Williams/Richards from getting playing time so he needs to go. Oubre is an empty scorer who is incredibly hit or miss depending on whether he's feeling it or not, more often not. Really a terrible roster outside of LaMelo and maybe Mark/Bridges. Wemby would certainly change things considerably. Heck even Scoot could if we get 2nd overall. It would be a real bummer to tank this year and not get 1 of those 2 guys though. It's the hornets so I'm fully expecting to be disappointed.

I wouldn’t read much into the “2 firsts” for SP. That’s their initial asking price, which is intentionally inflated from what the likely final price will be. It’s conceivable we give up 9th overall though, which I am not a fan of

Roaring Riot already has cabanas for the Jags game so that’ll be in Jacksonville
-
They have 9 home games so there’s a 1 in 9 chance and we were just there not that long ago. I doubt we play in London next year

Allbright is hit or miss but I think he does have some legit team sources here. I like the idea of SP then Steichen. Wilks shouldn’t be a fall back there are much better plan Cs.

MAKE THE OFFER TO SP TEPPER

Agreed, there's a lot of smoke with different candidates but it being so spread suggests it doesn't mean all that much other then the trend(s) with the different candidates who have smoke surrounding them. And to your point, that is offensive minded guy. Which suggests (along with other signs) that Wilks really is not a realistic option.

Trading for Sean Payton vs Settling for Steve Wilks
t96 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
lol that would be the most charlotte sports thing ever to bring back sh*tty former coaches in BOTH the sports here. At least Clifford is leading the tank train for Wemby. Luck out in the lottery to get him and bring Miles back next year with a new HC and the Hornets could actually be good for the first time in forever. -
I don't think Dorsey did a great job with Cam when he was here, and he's been Buffalo OC for just 1 year while taking over an elite offense with a ton of weapons, solid OL and elite QB. I don't trust his ability to be a HC any time soon. He's one of the least inspiring candidates out there in my opinion.

Roman Harper thinks Sean Payton could be our next HC now

I really don’t think he wants Denver, people view Wilson as a selling point but I think it’s the opposite. That’s an albatross contract for a bad player at this point in his career. -
I don’t see much point in getting into the depths of comparing the two. My main point is I have no interest in either one of them

dude watch the games, those stats are really not that good in today's passing league. He was 31st in the league in yards per attempt, 18th in passer rating. 21st in the league in TD% (yes he had 25 passing TDs but it took him an absurd amount of pass attempts), this was lower than Davis friggin Mills. And yes he had some WR injuries but he had Evans all year, Godwin most of the year, Julio most of the year, and Otton has shown more at TE than any of our guys. Brady did not have a good season at all this year. And he's only trending downward.

The reality is they don't have much of a choice if that's where Payton wants to go. It's ultimately going to be up to SP, then it's just a matter of getting the trade worked out. If Aints wanna play hardball, the Panthers and SP can easily wait. SP stays in broadcasting for a year, Tepper just gives Wilks 1 year then you come back and get SP next season. Tepper has reportedly been interested in SP ever since he left the Aints. But also it benefits the Aints to just get the deal done now so I doubt they'd want to play hardball. Every year that goes by they lose leverage and trade compensation. -

where do you guys see that he's interviewing with us today? I thought I saw yesterday we're interviewing him Friday -
Brady had a HORRIBLY inefficient season, despite having elite weapons. Rodgers played better with a bunch of scrubs around him. And Brady literally just retired once and un-retired. Neither has any potential past a year or two. I'm not advocating for Rodgers, that contract just makes it too difficult to make any sense at all. But Brady is fuging trash at this point.
-
Agree. He is significantly better than Brady at this point (and frankly I would take a young Rodgers for his career over Brady. Rodgers with Belichick for 20 years wins more than Brady did there. Also less of a douche, although yes still an asshole.
-
Yeah and even if we don’t it’s worth the risk. We really can’t possibly be any worse than we’ve been the past 4 years, so not much to lose.
-
Reich is a never-was. Would be a mistake. I’d embrace it but it wouldn’t get me excited even in the slightest. I’d be pumped about Steichen or Payton

I think more likely to be an owner (part of a group)

Man I was torn on it I’ve hated him with a passion for over a decade. But what I hate more is not having the Panthers as a joyful break from life the last 4-5 years. I’ve come around to thinking Payton can fix that and I’m willing to give it a shot. I’m not gonna be upset at all if we don’t get him but I’m preparing myself to be excited for the possibility in case it does happen. God knows we haven’t had much reason to be excited lately -

Only 1 year as OC under an offensive HC, no experience developing QBs, just something about him rubs me the wrong way and as someone else here mentioned reminds me of Gase. Steichen on the other hand has developed Herbert and Hurts, 2 very different types of players. I actually prefer a proven guy, Harbaugh was my top choice but with him out now it’s Payton. Steichen would be my 3rd choice. -

Agree a lot of smoke here but there was also a lot of smoke with Watson and that wound up falling through. Also I remember a bunch of smoke with McDaniels before we ultimately went with Rhule
