Philly is a cool place, it’s got its pros and cons like any place but I enjoyed the time I lived there. I don’t like living in cities though so had to get out ultimately.
-
I’m glad to be watching a SB where I don’t dislike either team. Not rooting for either as I only root for the Panthers or against teams I hate. But I lived in Philly a few years and liked their fans when I was there. And I like Reid and Mahomes. So cool however it goes as long as it’s an entertaining and enjoyable game. Don’t want to see a blowout. I think the Chiefs will win comfortably though, 2 score game with it not being particularly close. I may be very wrong though.

I think we make a lot of sense for Carr to want to come here. He makes sense for us as a bridge guy but would he be willing to accept that? Would love to sign him over Sam but still need to draft a QB this year, even if we need to trade up.
-
Ok but he’s not the authority here who has control over the $. Those politicians are pure scum and worse than Favre
-
The politicians are the main issue not Favre
-
I like him too, the injuries the last few years concern me though along with the massive contract he'll get. Rookie QB is definitely the way to go, maybe consider signing Carr as a bridge guy if he gets cut but he can't be our plan at starting QB past a season or so. Sick of trying to make some reclamation project vet work.

Just trade up to 1 and take Stroud
-
Kunkel is a good dude met him at camp a few years ago, I trust him on something like this
-
Agree, we gotta start drafting some good QB prospects until one works out, starting this draft with Stroud/Young/Levis (maybe Richardson). Corral wasn't a great prospect with legit franchise QB potential, nor was Grier.
-
Nobody is gonna trade for him and that contract, this is just the Aints getting ahead of the competition in FA and the Raiders allowing it. I’d definitely look into him in FA, depends on what he wants for a contract but sounds like he wants to win and cares less about the money. That being said I wouldn’t hand him anything and even if we signed him I’d 100% still go for a QB in the draft. And that rookie should have a fair shot to win the starting job this year or next year.

No other team interviewed him for a HC job. I'm happy for him too, he's in a great spot with a great organization. He's just not modern HC material.
-
Yeah I wouldn't disagree with that, that's where being an assistant HC makes the most sense to me, as a HC can offload/delegate some of the gameday stuff to Wilks
-
I mean, even aside from this year as interim HC, he was never even that good of a defensive coordinator. His 2017 season left a ton to be desired considering the amount of talent we had on D, and he clearly was nowhere near as good as McD was in his years here under Ron. Then he was pretty bad coordinating the D in Cleveland after AZ fired him. I think Wilks is an incredible leader of men, has generally solid football sense despite being very conservative in his coaching and is a great secondary coach. But he's not some defensive Xs and Os guru. Rivera honestly was, the game is passing him by a bit at this point (and Wilks too as he's from the same mold) but he got some incredible seasons from his defenses, getting more out of the talent than most other coaches would by coaching to their strengths and putting guys in a position to succeed within his scheme. 2013 is a great example. Yes we had prime Luke and TD and Hardy was dominating, but the secondary talent level was an absolute joke and our entire interior DL was rookies who still needed developing. Wilks will lead the guys as well as anyone but I don't consider him a great coach for running a great D whether as HC or DC. I really think the best spot for him on a contending team would be what he was initially brought in to be here : assistant HC and secondary coach. If he gets the 49ers DC job I'll be happy for him and that'll be a good spot considering the talent level but it'll be a considerable downgrade from Ryans for them.

I don’t know who/what that is but can’t be any worse than Tepper so I’m down

Snow was underrated. He wasn’t amazing by any means but he did a solid job considering how bad of a position our D was in with our terrible offense those years. So many drives starting past midfield and O could never sustain a drive so D just kept getting gassed late in games by being on the field the whole time. But I am excited about Evero, there’s a reason he’s gotten a ton of interest league wide as a HC and DC. Snow wouldn’t get any sniffs from a non-Rhule team.
-
Yeah I’m just saying he could do a great job here and get a HC job elsewhere and it wouldn’t necessarily mean we had a great season as a team for us fans to be happy about. Without a competent QB Evero coaching a great D probably won’t matter much.
-
I’d try to lock him up long term too before he potentially explodes in a 3-4 D with competent coaching. If we don’t he could get 15+ sacks next year and we could be needing to make him the highest paid pass rusher…
-
Hopefully/maybe. Worth noting he got a ton of HC interest despite the Broncos being a dumpster fire his 1 season there…
-
He got more out of Ginn than any other coach Ginn had in his many NFL stops… other than that yeah not much
-
Good, he's not a very good coach. Little bit of nepotis...

I like my wings like I like my women...

huh? the draft hasn't happened yet
-
For what it's worth it is officially smokescreen season and that HC and GM very well could be guys with their eye on a particular QB or another one and throw this out there to get other GMs/HCs further questioning themselves. That type of thing absolutely happens in draft season, a lot. I think overall this QB class has concerns but Young and Stroud are both solid prospects and worth taking a shot on in the top 5-10 picks. Levis and Richardson have upside but are big bust candidates too.

9th overall, 2024 1st, 2023 2nd (ours), 2023 3rd (49ers). Probably not any more than that and I don't think that would get it done. We'd be without our 1st next year (but hopefully it would be late with us making the playoffs with the boosts that Reich and Stroud give us in this crappy division). And this year we'd still have a 2nd round pick and a 4th and two 5ths. Not terrible...

Might as well discuss trade possibilities. The question isn't if we make a trade, it's when and for who. With us being legit contenders and sitting on a bunch of cap space with Patches on LTIR we will 100% make some moves to fill that cap space. I think it'll be something like McCabe and maybe Toews or O'Reilly without us having to give up a ton, but I wouldn't rule out a bigger move for a Larkin/Meier/etc. I have a feeling whatever trade we make will be a bit out of left field. No one expected Tro, Skjei, Vatanen, Domi until they were announced basically. We may decide we mostly like our group but we wouldn't let that cap space go to waste. If we're not adding players I could see us accumulating some picks by retaining as a 3rd team on other deadline trades. Kinda like Florida did for us/CBJ on the Domi trade last year.
