  1. That and his mom dying totally ruined his career. Really a bummer. He was a stud in the playoffs his rookie year too, was going off against the prime legion of boom
  2. It’s a wonder what Cam did that year leading us to the playoffs and a near road upset of the Aints. Granted we did have Olsen and pretty elite RBs but still.
  3. Maybe, we'll see how it plays out but I think they've got a lot of bidders and are holding firm on their price. Chiefs/Patriots/etc. have all been linked to him. I also think the Cards can wait until after the draft to trade him to a team who strikes out on WR and use that leverage. I honestly think with Stroud/Young, Hopkins, Chark, all our other signings, BPA at 39 along with this coaching staff will have us ready to contend this year, so that 2nd rounder in 2024 could be pretty late. Also our 3rd this year is from the Niners and is a very late 3rd, NOT our early 3rd as we already gave that up to move up for Corral (ugh). I don't think that's too much to give up for a bonafide #1 WR.
  4. He had 700 yards in 9 games last year with poor QB play, he's still 100% a bonafide top tier WR1 and I can't see him getting traded for less than that even with his contract situation. And for the purpose of putting weapons around our rookie QB I would pay that. I understand the hesitation though.
  5. Sign Chark, trade 2nd rounder next year and 3rd this year for Hopkins, draft Stroud 1st overall then BPA at 39 this year and man we're fuging sitting pretty in the somewhat weak NFC. Could be rookie QBs starting Conference Championship games in back to back years here
  6. We just re-worked Shaq's contract so he's staying here. And his size really isn't an issue for 3-4 ILB. Chinn is small but he's a playmaker near the LoS and we'll find somewhere to put him where he'll have way more success than he has had the past couple years miscast as a FS.
  7. Looking at this we really need some OL depth. We had to cut Pat but man is it bare behind our starting 5. Our starting 5 is incredible and I'm thrilled about it but especially with BC and Corbett coming off somewhat serious injuries we need some depth. Mays is fine but the other 2 are not. Wonder if we bring back Erving, we could do much worse for backup OT than him and he should come cheap.
  8. Nice post, I haven't dug into prospects outside the QBs yet but plan to in the next few weeks. I think someone who is generally a top 30 guy will fall to us, prefer WR with the Hurst signing but of course will take a TE too if he's BPA. So no I don't think we need to give up more picks and force the issue with a trade up. 39 should be a good spot to add an exciting weapon.
  9. I'm hopeful of this being the case but also we need to start seeing results before he deserves any praise. His first 5 years or so have been one of the worst among any owners in all of pro sports.
  10. I mean yeah he got a fully guaranteed contract of course the dead cap is insane if they cut him. not sure what is new here though
  11. Can’t see us agreeing to that and with a new head coach we can’t be forced to do it
  12. Anything can happen but Greg's start to his career was much better than Hurst's (especially considering the eras) and Greg was 26 his first year here, Hurst will be 30 in August.
  13. Rook will be starting week 1 barring injury
  14. The main reason I like Thielen is his nose for the endzone. He had more touchdowns in 2 recent relatively down seasons than DJ has had in his entire 5 year career... That's invaluable to have for a rookie QB. Although we'd still want to give him an explosive WR at some point for between the 20s as Thielen isn't that at this point in his career.
  15. yeah he's a good dude I met him at a camp a few years before he really came onto the scene as a beat reporter but his track record the last year + really isn't good at all. Throw a ton of poo at the wall hoping it sticks, much of which doesn't. KC makes sense after they let Juju walk to the Patriots for not a ton of money. I think he'd have a lot of success there with Mahomes and a very good chance to get a ring obviously.
  16. Agreed. His only concern is the track record of previous Ohio State QBs being bad. Which is a ridiculous concern considering none of that is relevant to who he is as a player. Before Mahomes there was never a successful Texas Tech QB in the NFL. Young would also be a worthy 1st overall pick but the size concerns are enough for me to have Stroud as my clear #1.
  17. yeah could just be that but he also had 7 yard per catch in 2019 on a bigger sample size than 2020/2021 and the offense was actually really good that year if I'm remembering right
  18. I admittedly haven't followed him at all or watched him much at all -- but glancing at stats how does a 4.3 dude average 10 yards per catch over his career? That's slow crappy possession guy numbers. Just Colts QB and offense being that bad? Most of the sample size is last year and the year before in very small sample size he averaged 16 which makes more sense.
  19. fug just tell us who our QB is; this next month+ is gonna be brutal, we're gonna have to keep hearing about Stroud vs Young, trading down, Levis, AR, etc.
  20. I think they're already set on Stroud but also like Young enough that if something in the next month and a half comes up in the process making them re-think Stroud they would happily pivot to Young.
  21. Mahomes already has an argument for GOAT NFL player frankly. Stroud or Young could turn into an elite franchise QB and still not be all that close to Mahomes' level. But I generally agree with your point that coaching, elite OL, franchise QB can all make a lack of weapons moot. There's a lot of ways to skin a cat. If we don't have many weapons we'll need to have great efficient play calling and QB play limiting turnovers and a great D. Especially in today's NFL where putting up points is so important. I don't expect to contend as soon as this year so we have a couple years to build out our skill position groups too. I'm just thrilled we have a top OL in place and continuity there to keep our rookie comfortable from go.
  22. deep draft at TE would love to grab one between rounds 2-4. Ideally a WR in the 2nd but if a top TE is sitting there I'd do that too
