He just can't ever go like 3 straight games without having a borderline or full on meltdown. Great numbers on the aggregate but no week to week consistency over long enough stretches, especially against great teams you'll face in the playoffs.

Looking forward to playoff games in this weather and the Lions/Rams game has some awesome story lines. Honestly all the matchups are interesting to me except Monday night. Eagles/Bucs playing to see who gets knocked out in a week is not a good game. Pissed about the peacock fuging nonsense. Absurd to not have that game also being aired on cable like every other NFL playoff game the last however many decades. fuging stupid NBC/NFL. I've got Browns, Chiefs, Steelers, Cowboys, Eagles all advancing. Lions/Rams is a toss up and I won't even guess. Lions probably should win but Rams have won 7 of their last 8 and the Lions could very well Lion especially going against their former franchise QB.

Admittedly I haven't followed Wilks' career as a DC outside of Carolina very closely, but his year as DC here was really a massive disappointment with a ton of talent on D. Huge huge drop off from McDermott, maybe slightly better than Eric Washington the following year, but he was not a good DC here. Better assistant HC and secondary coach.

I get the age thing, Pete is not my top choice for that reason. But he should be in consideration when our top choices probably choose better opportunities anyways. Pete could get this franchise back to being respectable and maybe we can groom a future HC under him. Pete looks to me like he could coach until he's 80 with no drop off. Can't say the same about a Belichick, Reid, etc. He's super healthy and energetic and his heart seems very in it. Coughlin looked and acted 80 years old his last year in NY despite being like 6 years younger than Pete is now. I usually think it's a dumb saying but I feel it's appropriate talking about Carroll that age is just a mindset. Getting this team to some sustained success, winning seasons, playoff appearances is not pointless.

Coughlin's last several years with the Giants were terrible. Carroll's Seahawks have continued to be competitive all along even with career backup Geno Smith as starting QB the last 2 years.
