fug the Bucs, go Cowgirls

I may be wrong but he seemed to have several lingering small tissue injuries, especially earlier in his career. May not have missed a lot of games but he did seem limited/hampered by injuries to a degree higher than you'd like.

NFL Network says Darnold worst starting QB in the league.
t96 replied to Khyber53's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sorry but even his Jets' performances were better than Teddy's here, how they have Teddy about Sam I don't understand. But whatever, it means nothing. -
TJ Watt isn't even going to play any time soon. It's gonna get ugly with those negotiations. I know people have hard ons for rookie QBs in the OROY voting but no chance Mac Jones wins it.

Your reaction when Sam Darnold is not named a Captain...
t96 replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
Chinn has taken charge in the way Luke did after his ROTY. Chinn is already the leader of this D, everyone on the team knows it too. -

Chinn is more of a leader than Shaq. -
Canes offer sheet Jesperi Kotkaniemi (MTL)
t96 replied to GamecockSmitty4's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
My understanding is he only played about 2 games at wing, the rest was all center. Montreal fans didn't think he was good on the wing but it's such a small sample size and was with poor linemates so not going to read into that. Jesperi is most certainly a center longer term, probably replacing Tro as soon as next year, but there just isn't a slot for him in the middle this season with Aho, Tro and Staal so have no choice but to try him on the wing this year. Maybe, but I really hesitate to breakup SAT line. They have showed signs of breaking out as one of the best lines in the league, up there with Boston's top line and Colorado's. And we have the luxury of keeping them together with Jesperi, Tro and Necas rounding out a pretty damn amazing 2nd line too. -
Canes offer sheet Jesperi Kotkaniemi (MTL)
t96 replied to GamecockSmitty4's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
We had Galchenyuk last year and traded him away for nothing. He's one of those guys who isn't quite good enough to play in the top 6 and doesn't really fit the mold of a bottom 6 forward. Plus I really don't think we need any more forward especially after the Kotkaniemi addition. We're pretty deep there now. We are still short another clear top 6 scoring winger but that's much harder to acquire and this year anyways we can live with Kotkaniemi playing wing and hope Nino plays well in a contract year. Then we do have Jarvis and some other guys potentially coming into the mix soon. Vatanen is pretty washed at this point. I liked the way he played but we're also pretty deep on D now, although we are of course will miss Dougie's impact on the top pair. I can't see Vatanen or any other available D man playing above Slavin, TDA, Skjei, Pesce, Cole, Bear. -
fug these pansy silly nanny predictions. 34-3. Wilson gonna wish he never left college and realize he can't hang with the big boys on a real NFL D.

That would be ridiculously stupid. Make our OL depth even worse for no reason at all? He's the best interior OL on our roster right now.

Canes offer sheet Jesperi Kotkaniemi (MTL)
t96 replied to GamecockSmitty4's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Gardiner is going on LTIR, Waddell just announced it. Having back AND hip surgery... There's our cap relief, also we'll have an extra $2.5M to spend as well. Regarding Kotkaniemi, this offer sheet was an absolute stroke of genius by the Canes. This is Teravainen 2.0. He's going to explode here and I wouldn't be surprised too if we lock him up to a relatively cheap extension as soon as we're able to in January. He wants to be here, we've got deep ties and success with Finnish players and he fits the timeline extremely well. He projects as our long term #2C behind Aho, 60+ point guy with great physical 2 way play as well. $6M this year was an overpay but that's what it takes to do a successful offer sheet and steal a player away from another team like this. We put the Habs in a bind so that we could add an extremely talented young player with huge upside. The money this year really doesn't matter at all, we have the space. The 1st round pick is almost certain to be in the 20s or later which makes it somewhat irrelevant, especially with our deep prospect pool and the 3rd round pick is nothing. Well worth it. I would think he slots in at 2nd line winger this season until Trocheck likely walks to get paid after the season, then he takes over the 2C role next season. Svech - Aho - TT Jesperi - Tro - Necas Nino - Staal - Fast Fantastic top 9. Now we just need DeAngelo/Bear to step up and the goalies to stay healthy and we have as good a shot as any team to win it all this year. -
If You Were Looking for a New Panthers Shirt
t96 replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
Thanks for the context. Can't believe they made it into a shirt that is hysterical. The problem is absolutely no one would know the context and they'd just think you're a moron -
My buddy is interviewing CMC tomorrow. Wants questions.

Reminds me of Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman Lt. Col. Frank Slade : You've been in the sugar business for so long, you've forgotten the taste of real honey! -
I've never been a guy who cares much about completion percentage, but this just isn't really true anymore. 60-63% nowadays is basically the worst in the league. https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/player/_/table/passing/sort/completionPct/dir/desc
-
Honestly barring like MVP caliber numbers I'm not sure 1 year would completely convince me at all. If he had the numbers I posted except with like 10 or less interceptions and a bit higher completion % that could do it but in today's NFL you really can't have your QB throwing 1 pick per game over the course of a season and 62% would be pretty low too nowadays. I'd be (pleasantly) shocked if he puts up those TDs and yardage without throwing a lot of picks.
-
Then again, the question posed in this thread was: How would you feel about our future with Sam Darnold going into next season?
-
A season like that would give me more confidence in Sam than I have now but wouldn't be enough to convince me he's our franchise guy. Same with my numbers below. I'll predict: 4350 yards 30 TDs, 17 INT 62% completion, 7.5 yards per attempt 11-6 team record Our weapons and Joe Brady's scheming easily gets him this yardage, Teddy had 3733 yards in just 15 games last year. TDs may be a bit ambitious but I think it's doable. OL brings his completion % lower and INT higher than we want, as he'll continue to make poor decisions at times when under heavy pressure. Encouraging season but, again, not enough to be convinced he's the guy.

God damn dude don't post this. I had almost forgotten about Sanjay spamming every thread with this damn picture

The Panthers currently have the most cap space in the entire NFL

I don't see much point in signing another unknown at this point. Just role with Santoso until he gives us reason not to.
-
He didn't wear a tie when he re-entered the team facility after returning from his travel.
-
Armah had plenty of short yardage opportunities last season, I don't think he took advantage of a single one...
-
yep still pissed about guys like Klein and Ginn

Jones does and will suck ass. But Cam was never the answer for the Pats, Belichick had to do something at QB and as soon as he drafted Jones that high it was just a matter of time before he was starting. I hate Belichick too but I think he did Cam a favor. It's not all that unlikely that Bill told Cam he was going to be the backup and Cam asked to be released. It's MUCH better than being traded to some sh*thole situation that he didn't want to go to.

Backup QB is a great paying gig, don't have to do much. I'd be surprised if he retired.
