Yeah that's a bummer, didn't expect to be without him too. He's been okay but a lesser piece on our DL this year so not the biggest loss but he'll still be missed in the rotation. His run D has been rock solid.

I suspect we won't really know until a few months from now. Depends on how he heals and also how the team does in his absence. Timeframe was 2-3+ months, if we continue to play extremely well and his rehab goes smoothly we probably get him back for some of that tough stretch late in the regular season. If we start to throw the season away and aren't really in the playoff mix and his recovery is taking closer to the 3 months end of that timeframe then there's no reason to rush him back and we'd likely just play it safe and shut him down. Hard to have an answer definitively right now.

Dak is solid, their receivers are great, Elliott has looked like trash this year and their OL has been bottom 5 in the league. Their D is mediocre at best. They are not well coached overall. I'm very confident about this one, even without McCaffrey/Horn. Bouye/CJ will help our D continue to be the best in the league even against a better offense. Darnold will be more of the same. Limit mistakes, a few deep shots to keep the D honest but mostly just steadily moving the ball and putting up enough points to get a convincing victory. 27-13 good guys

Panthers were in trade talks for CJ even before Horn was injured
t96 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I doubt it and I doubt he was ever all that seriously in play. We never even made him an offer. He doesn't really fit our system. We're all man coverage now, Sherman excelled in zone. -
Also Arnold being a free agent signing makes it even better asset management. He cost us nothing and turned into an asset for us to acquire a top 10 pick 1 year removed. All we did was drop from mid/late 3rd to early 5th, to acquire a top 10 CB... Hard to believe honestly.

Exactly as I expected. No bearing on Horn/Donte situations at all. -
In his limited reps he's looked solid, I'm guessing the coaches are watching practice and are confident he or Thomas or both can step into Arnold's role as a receiver.

Rivera would come out so unprepared in a situation like this, just like he did after bye weeks.

What does the Henderson trade mean for Donte and Jaycee?
t96 replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
I remember at his first training camp as a rookie while the kids were getting autographs from the stars I was talking to Donte a bit at the fence at Wofford. I recall talking about 2 things 1 him taking on Funchess and that matchup/who was winning it (he had some good trash talk about how despite the size different he was schooling Funch). 2 outside vs. slot corner. He very adamantly stated without hesitation that's he's outside all day and isn't a slot corner. Seemed very passionate about this fact at the time. Now, that was 3 years ago and things can change or he could've just been an overly confident rookie saying whatever was on his mind to some random fan. But point is, I don't think Donte would re-sign here to be a full time nickel corner. And I think that's fair, he can absolutely hold his own on the outside and probably does belong there. It may come down to how well Snow can scheme and move these guys around to keep all 3 happy if we do keep Donte, as Horn will obviously be mostly outside, not sure about CJ but on the surface his skill set is also for the outside. Bouye was brought in to be the nickel this year for a reason too. -
What does the Henderson trade mean for Donte and Jaycee?

Very possible. We may have to choose between Reddick and Donte. But I think those decisions are completely independent of acquiring CJ and would've happened regardless. -
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. 1. We already knew Horn was going to miss at least a few months, and as a 3-0 team ready to compete right now we were looking at CB options for while he was out anyways. This doesn't mean we know Horn is definitely out for the season or there's long term concern, etc. Is that possible? Sure, but it was possible the instant he got hurt on Thursday. He could still be back for late regular season/playoffs. Horn's injury expedited us making a move but it doesn't mean anything more than we already knew about his injury being likely 2-3 month recovery and possibly season ending (Rapoport's words). 2. In this modern pass happy league, you need great CB play. It is the 2nd most important position on D aside from pass rusher, maybe even more important but a bit easier to find than elite pass rushers. Most teams around the league are running a base set with 3+ WRs. Gone are the days of just having 2 starting CBs, teams have 3 starting CBs nowadays. Acquiring Henderson doesn't mean anything about Donte's status past this year. In fact, with him and Horn on cheap rookie deals we can afford to spend on 1 player in the position group and have it fit in the cap structure and have a stacked top 3 CB group for the next 3+ years. It will come down to what Donte is looking for and what he can command but don't assume because of this trade that Donte is gone after the year. It was always going to come down to what Donte was looking for -- if he's trying to be the highest paid CB in the league, he probably walks. If he will consider a relatively team friendly deal that still gets him PAID, I think we keep him, and have a stacked CB group. 3. We acquired a top 10 CB (first taken in 2020) for a free agent signing and to drop from mid/late 3rd round to early 5th round in the 2022 draft. That is an absolute STEAL and a no-brainer trade even if Horn was fully healthy and Donte was locked up for 5 years. The Jags with Urban Meyer and the new front office clearly didn't want CJ there, they were desperate for a TE for Lawrence and we took advantage of the situation, expedited a bit by the Horn injury, but I think at the end of the day this move is independent of our other 2 CBs.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. What the hell is Jacksonville doing, that is an absolute steal for a top 10 pick at CB. I liked Dan Arnold and will miss him but time for our boy Tommy Tremble to step up even more. What a fuging trade baby. Especially once Horn comes back this CB group is INSANE. Unfortunately for fans of Donte this could mean he's gone after this year as we now have Horn and Henderson locked up for cheap.

Yep, PIE thread

It's really hard to say. Our OL hasn't been great but it hasn't been as bad as any of those rookie QB's teams. Also, our weapons and system have put our QB in a great situation to succeed, along with our D having us play from ahead and not put it all on the QB. I think Lawrence or Wilson here could be doing as well as Darnold or better potentially. But no way to know. All I think we can say for sure is that all these rookie QBs except for Jones really have been put in disastrous situations. Lance too but he's not starting.
-
Yes, the team confirmed after last game that he got hurt against us. I think whatever the injury is it is affecting him as he looked considerably better against us than the Pats and Broncos, and I don't think that's because they're better defenses than us. Aints offense was significantly better against the Pats D than they were against our D too.

Raiders just fell apart. Wouldn't say the Dolphins are better without Tua, maybe not much worse but not much better.
-
wtf was that Kupp? Could've easily had the 1st down and instead just ran sideways 1 yard short out of bounds
-
Bucs won a fluky mercenary SB last year, just like they did with Gruden before. They'll be a fringe playoff team and if they do make it it'll be an early exit this year and then starting next year they'll go right back to being the same old loser Bucs.
-
Rams about to pull away and finish these posers off. We'll be sitting alone at the top in the division at least for a week.
-
Bucs D IS garbage. 1 year wonder with Bowles last year, just like he and Arians had in Arizona too.
-
Yep the Senior in HS hanging out with the stud Sophomore QB
-
Gronk hurt, heavy heavy hit. Clean. Good stuff from the Rams D
-
Good stuff LA. When did DeSean Jackson wind up on the Rams??? I haven't heard his name in years it seems.
-
Good stuff. I’ve been restoring a ‘61 t bird, including rebuilding the engine and transmission. Been a really fun project. Not touching the interior though, not my expertise and it’s pretty solid as is.
