Carolina willing to move Corral. Cost won’t be high.
t96 replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it was a McAdoo pick. Same thing though and agree with the sentiment either way. -
Do you mean the optics or do you believe this? Look I'm excited about Reich and the staff he's put together but I wouldn't be so sure that he/they won't fail Stroud or whatever QB we get. Stroud could do everything right and be a good player but not succeed here. It happens, and Reich and his staff haven't earned the benefit of the doubt on that yet.

Consider bringing back Hartsfield not the others. That's a pretty high tender though, he should be closer to vet min

Completely agree. I would accept Young but I want Stroud much more. AR or Levis and I'll be as pissed as I've ever been at a draft pick.

Tony Pauline: CJ Stroud or Anthony Richardson
t96 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
puke. he would be a stretch at 9, good player with upside but lot of concerns. Stroud/Young are the only options at 1. If we do anything other than 1 of them then my faith in this team, of which I have very very little as it is, will be completely gone. -
What Veteran QB Do We Sign to Mentor the Rookie QB?
t96 replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
The relationship between a coach and a player is significantly different than the relationship between a player and another player, especially if that other player is closer to Stroud/Young's 21 than McCown's 43. There is something to be said for a QB having another experienced veteran QB on the team who he can lean on/ask questions and have be more of a good cop whereas a coach needs to hold the player accountable and be more of a bad cop. That said, I don't think having a mentor at QB is a big deal. Having veteran leadership in general is a big deal but it doesn't have to come from the QB position, can be any position on the offense. -
What Veteran QB Do We Sign to Mentor the Rookie QB?
t96 replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Josh is literally twice as old as Stroud/Young... He's QB coach, NOT a mentor or peer. And I disagree with the notion that a mentor at backup QB is necessary, if it works out great but plenty of successful QBs have come into the league without a mentor. I'd rather focus on finding a legit solid backup who can win a game or two if needed. Brissett makes a lot of sense. Also Minshew but he may be looking for somewhere that he has a chance to start which he won't get here. -
Free Agency starts March 15th…. WHY TF HAS BOZEMAN not been signed?
t96 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/03/13/nfl-top-100-2023-free-agents-lamar-jackson-derek-carr-geno-smith-top-the-list/#comments Somehow PFT doesn't have Boze ranked in their top 100 free agents... I'm not a big fan of PFT but often they're pretty decent on this type of stuff. I wonder if Boze doesn't have much of a market around the league and we're letting him learn that in the tampering period trying to sign him to a cheaper deal once he realizes it? -
Bucs targeting Baker Mayfield in FA
t96 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol good fug them lame ass team that has lucked into 2 SBs and sucked the rest of their existence -
I'm cool with any legit WR/TE prospect, I think that's pretty much our only option early in the 2nd unless some surprise faller is sitting there. Our OL will set up Stroud/Young well but we do need some weapons. Draft a guy in early in the 2nd and sign a guy or two in FA.

We aren’t trading the pick.

Happy to see, he’s a solid player, one of the few from the nippleshorts era

The Worst Stretch in Panthers History is Finally Behind Us
t96 replied to Seltzer's topic in Carolina Panthers
The last game I went to was @ the Bucs in 2018. Before that was going to 2-3 games per year despite not living in the area. Tepper and Rhule were such a disaster and my interest in the team definitely dwindled. This offseason so far is potentially saving it. Haven't bought a jersey since McCaffrey in 2018 either. Stroud/Young will be my next one. Almost got a Chinn jersey but didn't wind up pulling the trigger. -
Ok but DJ in Chicago may not be as good as DJ in Carolina...

So then, we’ve got a WR corps to build. What do y’all got?
t96 replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Get 1 or 2 of Brandon Cooks, D Hopkins, Odell, Hardman. And draft one in the 2nd round. Or could draft a tight end or go after Schultz. Having a top tier tight end is every bit as important for a young QB as a WR. -
Schefter: Tepper likes Young, Reich likes Stroud
t96 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pretty much my exact viewpoint as well. We finally have something to be truly excited about — a legit HC and top rookie QB. -
yeah he got absolutely screwed by his preseason injury. If not for that he'd have had a ton of meaningful snaps in the 2nd half of the season and a real chance to prove himself. He's probably lost that because of the injury now with the new staff likely to draft a QB high this year. I like him and hope even if we let him go he can stick around in the league for a while somewhere at least as a backup.
-
I like him as a prospect just not enough to be comfortable trading up to the top 3 for him if that's what it takes. Honestly don't even love the value at 8, I think he should be more of a teens/early 20s guy. But that being said if we do get him I'll still be incredibly excited. Just not as much as if we got Stroud (ideally) or Young.

New trade down theory coming out of League circles
t96 replied to Growl's topic in Carolina Panthers
We could get screwed if Falcons or some other team trades up to 2 though -
Panthers are now the betting favorite for the #1 pick
t96 replied to Martin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not necessarily. Multiple teams have had a lot of success after trading a lot to move up for a QB who wound up busting. 49ers, Eagles, Rams all very recent and applicable examples. If Reich is the real deal we’ll figure out QB sooner or later even if it doesn’t turn out to be whoever we get in this draft if we trade up. -
I like Minshew, I don't think he's the answer nor will he come cheap for a backup but I'd be really happy to sign him and draft a QB. Sam did ok down the stretch last year and is a good dude but let's just end that experiment now

It's not exactly the Steelers' MO but I'd love to see him go to a division rival via the non-exclusive tag. Obviously the Browns and Bengals are set at QB so Pittsburgh is the only option there. I think he winds up getting much less of a market than he hoped for and he goes back to the Ravens for a somewhat reasonable (not fully guaranteed) contract. Either way I hope like hell we don't even bother with exploring this. Regardless of the contract (which will have to be ridiculous to snatch him away) I don't want to give up 2 firsts for a QB who won't even be healthy come playoff time and who averages like 2500 passing yards a season
