the funny thing is just like with politics there are very few radical Bryce or Stroud supporters here, some of them are very vocal but most people are more in the middle and would be fine with either of them and recognize both of their strengths and weaknesses.

So overpriced to watch 17 fuging games but as an out of market fan it's that or going to a bar every Sunday (which I did for years before getting directv sunday ticket streaming using a college enrolled family member's email). Really was hoping they'd open it up to have the streaming package AND adding cable packages (like the NHL and NBA do). $350 is absurd. At least offer a single team option for like $100 but nope they have to be a bunch of pricks

We had a ton of the cap tied up in him so I absolutely count him as a big loss.
-
Lol ok dude we’ll see
-
Lol what? How? Our cap, core and prospect situation are all in phenomenal shape for long term sustained success. We didn’t overpay for rentals like other teams have. We lost our 2 best goal scorers to injury late in the season, what the hell do you expect?
-
The good thing is now I have zero expectations for the playoffs and if we get swept I won’t even be disappointed just indifferent. Next season we’ll be healthy and hopefully have some offseason upgrades.

Yeah completely uninteresting and worthless for insight into Bryce. I usually like the Manning stuff but that was a joke
-
This is stupid

Working out during this and was gonna throw the canes on but they suck so definitely watching this. Love the Mannings (despite the league’s bullshit to get P 1 more ring vs us)

People bring this up a lot but I don't think it really means anything. We don't know how their relationship is with the agent. Just because Watson forced his way out and was a problem doesn't mean they blame the agent at all. They got a lot out of that trade, possibly with the agent's help working together to get it. We just don't know or have any real insight into that situation. -
The under-center snaps are a very fair concern with Bryce but it just brings up the question of why so few snaps? Because he's actually much worse at it? Unlikely. That's just what Alabama runs. So you have to figure out whether you think he can succeed under center. It's harder to evaluate without the sample size compared to Stroud who has already succeeded under center in a solid sample size, but it can still be evaluated and you just take that into account. I have always preferred Stroud and these stats obviously don't change that but they don't really give me any lesser of an opinion of Young. It's really not an easy choice at all and if we do take Young I wouldn't be worried about him under center, I'd trust the staff evaluated properly and that he can succeed there, even if he didn't have the opportunity to show it in college.
-
My viewpoint has not changed at all the last 3-4 weeks. Stroud is my preference, but will be thrilled about either him or Young. AR/Levis are both hard passes for me dawg
-
I'm not sure he lasts past Seattle as they just make so much sense for him but regardless he's not a 1st overall caliber prospect. Both Young and Stroud are. Would be completely stupid for us to take such a raw boom/bust guy at 1 but I do think he still goes high (not saying he should).

There's no one answer to this question, it all depends. Brady had no positive physical attributes except height and just enough of a deep ball (a pretty weak one) to keep defenses honest while utilizing his other strengths to become great at the position. Realistically in this day and age I think you need a bit more agility and arm strength than Brady to be a true franchise QB so there is a physical pre-requisite. It's less about the physical traits once you meet those minimums, although an elite deep ball arm like a Mahomes or Allen or prime Cam had is a factor, and running ability is a factor; factors which can outweigh some of the football IQ deficiencies but if a guy just barely meets the physical pre-requisites he damn well better have an elite football IQ. And on the other hand I don't think Cam's football IQ was elite, it was above average but not elite. All his other traits combined with that made him a top tier elite QB when he was in his prime and healthy. Same with Josh Allen. But guys like Kenny Pickett and Mac Jones just don't have NFL arms to keep a defense truly honest and that is enough of a negative that I don't think guys like that can ever be franchise QBs. All of the top 4 QBs in this draft meet the physical pre-requisites in my opinion. Young's size is more a question of durability than whether he can have success at the position. If we had a magic 8 ball that said he'd stay healthy his entire career here I'm running to the podium with his name on the card. But his frame is just so small that durability is enough of a concern that I think CJ is the better bet at 1st overall. But either way both meet the brains AND brawn as prospects strictly as it relates to playing the position.

Young VS Stroud, the greatest Panthers debate ever?

Young VS Stroud, the greatest Panthers debate ever?

nah pretty much everyone wanted Butker and to send Gano packing -
For cheap yeah for sure. He has not been good at all in the regular season the last few years but he's a guy who elevates his game in the playoffs. I think he'll cost too much though as he'll get paid for those playoff performances.

I disagree with corner being such a big need. We just need Horn and Donte to stay healthy. Your example of the Bucs is off base as when we had healthy corners we held them to 3 points. In the game Evans smoked us both Horn and Donte were out…
-
Mental processing, accuracy, pocket awareness, etc. are all forms of talent and both Young and CJ smoke him in those areas. Most physically gifted yes, most upside because of that sure. But most talented, no. He needs a ton of work to have any NFL success.
-
not a chance. it's Stroud or Young, coin toss
-
I saw something about the Texans beat seeming to think we're taking Young and they're gonna be "stuck with" Stroud... Not sure I buy it or that they know any more than us but I bet the Texans are trying very hard to get an idea of who we're taking. We also might be fooling them with smokescreens from the last few weeks.

Chinn confirms he'll be playing more LB (closer to the line)
t96 replied to B_Eazi's topic in Carolina Panthers
Chinn is a great playmaker but no I don't think he's going to turn into one of the best pass rushers in the league, stacking weight or not. -
High character players with football intelligence
t96 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tepper and Fitt wanted to sell the farm to get Watson, along with more than a few other teams... No coach is going to admit to wanting or even accepting low character players without football intelligence so I wouldn't read much into this. If a guy helps us win and isn't a locker room issue I don't really care what he does off the field. I still think we got fuged over hard by the Hardy situation. He was a complete idiot but if the league didn't steal him along with that $14M in cap space from us in 2014 I honestly think we could've beaten that Seahawks team and gone further.
