Yeah I heard about that but I don't see it happening. He'll get a lot guaranteed, but not fully. Fully guaranteed for a QB as small as him who runs a lot would be absolutely fuging outrageous. One injury, and bam your team's done. Even if he were to get that I couldn't see Gettleman offering Cam 70 million guaranteed. He's not a guy to just throw out guaranteed money to a player who's not quite elite yet.

70 guaranteed would be the most in the league and I am fairly positive Cam and his boys would take that. Don't think G-man would hand out 70 guaranteed. Much more likely to be something like 40-50 guaranteed and total 22-24 per year with cap hits backloaded.

Throwback Thursday - Domenik Hixon TD catch to beat the Taints
t96 replied to SCP's topic in Carolina Panthers
I love this video. The Hixon TD catch had me on the floor bawling I loved it so much, but when we beat Crybaby and the Cheatriots it was soooo much better. That was Cam's coming out party, he was perfect against the best franchise of the past decade on Monday Night Football. -
He's better than Lattimore and Lattimore's injury was outrageously worse. Simple ACL tear is not that big of a deal any more. Getting a possible Adrian Peterson talent late in the 3rd round would be huge. There's literally 0% chance that he goes undrafted. Very very likely he'll still go in round 1 or 2.

Could be good for us. Get him in the 3rd.

What I hate is how little credit Cam gets for how successful we were in 2013. He was arguably the clutchest QB in the league that year. Our defense was amazing and deserves all the credit it gets, but Cam was absolutely spectacular in all the close games that year. -
DGB Considered "Best WR to Come Out since Calvin Johnson."

I didn't know about this place in 2011, but were there really people thinking we should've taken someone other than Cam #1 overall? -
-Better in the long run, much younger with key guys locked up and I think less holes. But I don't think our roster from the end of this past season has us in as good of a position to win a Super Bowl as 2013's roster did. -Don't think this can be answered considering the huge losses from 2013 to 2014 (Gross, Hardy, Captain, Ginn, Mitchell, etc.). In some areas there's definitely been improvement though and other areas probably not. -Absolutely. DG could be the best GM in the league if he continues at this rate. Amazing amazing amazing drafts and solid FA for the most part considering our cap space, and show business instinct by not overpaying. Think we're in a perfect position for sustained success.

Wasn't really a question but yeah the feeling I got is that DGB isn't really being considered for #25. Voth's report though... -

What was interesting to me about DG's press conference is he said in the interview process it's all about football no questions about their personal lives or off the field. I'm certain though with DGB he'd ask a few about the off the field stuff. How can you not, and have him on your board? -

DGB + KB = DGKBB = DaveGettlemanKillsBillBelichick =Super Bowl Consensus? Trade up to draft DGB. -
True and I've even explored the possibility of if we could get Landon Collins have him play SS for now and could be moved to OLB as TD's replacement. BTW, would pie but on mobile version...
-
Only thing is we don't really need the 3rd LB to be great since we're in nickel/buffalo package so much. We'll need a guy to pair with Luke for sure once the inevitable day comes for TD (hopefully atleast 3-5 years away) but I don't see getting that now as being as important as the other positions. But if Shaq Thompson is sitting there at 25 we better take him.
-
I'd put DE over OLB and if we don't resign Cole/Dwan then DT over OLB but otherwise agree.
-
Yes the draft is not very deep at safety at all after Collins but that doesn't change the fact that safety is a bigger need than corner.
-
Colin Jones is a defensive back. By putting him in a position where he succeeded, you're not stealing him from safety. Boston was decent last year but Harper is trash and safety is by far a bigger need than corner. Not even worth debating. Harper should stay on the team and be a mentor but should not be starting. And Colin wasn't just "decent" he was a huge part of our defense's success at the end of the season and was arguably as good overall as Bene was. Not as good in coverage but he is always right at the ball and has great instincts for nickel. Bene is already a better outside corner than most in the league and I know many are skeptical of Josh, but he is the real fuging deal and is a top 10 corner. Corner is not a need at all, as both our starters are above average relative to the rest of the league and are young. Jones was not succeeding at safety. He played amazingly at nickel. He's not in our plans at all at safety. Tre Boston was solid for the most part but got absolutely burned numerous times in both Seattle games. He's promising but he's far from the sure thing that Norman and Bene are. Harper is trash in coverage and an upgrade is immediately needed there. DeCoud will likely be cut. As for DE, our whole defensive philosophy is around rushing the passer and stopping the run. Ealy is on the right track but isn't there yet and is a liability against the run and even rushing the passer at times. I love Big Frank's intensity and he's a beast rushing the passer but we have no idea where he stands right now. We need elite DEs to get the most out of out defensive schemes, and you know how Gettleman values pass rushers. I guarentee you he sees DE as a bigger need than CB. If we were to keep Hardy, even if just for a year, that would change, but as it stand right now, DE is big need. And as for DT, it's not just "bench depth." KK and Star don't play all the snaps, particularly KK. If Cole and Dwan are both gone we lose a ridiculous amount of production. There were games both of them played more snaps than KK. Our DT rotation is extremely important for keeping fresh legs and changing up the line. And back to our defensive philosophy.... Stop the run, rush the passer. Starts at the line. And any CB we bring in would just be "bench depth" so I don't see why you think CB is such a huge need and DT isn't a need at all. I expect we bring back one of Cole and Dwan but that hasn't happened yet, so as of now DT is a bigger need than corner.
-
Top 3 by far are OT, WR, and safety. Then I, and many others, would argue that DE, DT depth and OLB are all bigger needs than corner if we lockup Norman (which we will). Bene will start outside with Colin Jones back at nickel. Jones is a beast in that buffalo package and it fits his skill set insanely well. Our defense is built around pressure on the QB and stopping the run. So DT depth since we have no one in the rotation now behind Star and KK, and DE which was elite with Hardy but wasn't last year at all, are way more important than CB. And CJ could be gone soon if we can't workout a way to get his cap hit down then DE becomes by far our biggest need (assuming we've addressed OT). Ealy has shown some promise but is very far from a sure thing, Horton and Addison are trash, and no one knows what will happen with Big Frank.
-
CB isn't one of our top 5 needs even.
-
He's already said he won't take a deal like Dalton's or Kaepernick's. And to say they are on par with each other is ridiculous. Cam has carried his offense every year with trash around him. Dalton sucks even with an elite WR, solid TEs, amazing run game and amazing offensive line every year. And we want to be handcuffed to Cam (just not at a too high cap hit per year). He's our guy until he retires. Offering him a deal like Dalton's would be insulting.
-
DA probably "has Jerry Richardson's ear."
-
NFLPA could argue events occurred before policy changed, and Rice only got a 2 game suspension so if Hardy gets suspended at all it can't be more than 2 games.
-
Please please please JR and G-man bring this man back. Hardy, another top notch draft, decent FA OT signing and I think we'd have our best chance at a Super Bowl in years.

There should be a minimum number of years on the Huddle to qualify. No offense Lola...
