  1. Not getting the vaccine is stupid but the speeding ticket is really nothing. At least up here in the northeast 90+ is just the flow of traffic in the left lane on any highway when it isn't rush hour...
  2. 11th is still borderline middle of the pack though. I don't see much significance in this.
  3. Partly marketing but I think it's more just the nature of the impact that players in the draft can have immediately in the pros. NFL rookies from any round can have a serious impact from day 1, and most 1st and 2nd round picks are expected to have some impact from day 1. MLB I don't follow much but my understanding is no draft picks have any impact until years and years down the road. NHL is similar, the top picks can play immediately but it's not uncommon to see a top 5 pick not play in the NHL for 2-3+ years. Later picks almost never contribute until several years later. NBA can have superstar prospects contribute immediately very high in the draft, but rarely are non-lottery picks in the 1st round immediate contributors as starters or superstars and 2nd round picks never are.
  4. And also in 2013 and 2014 we started terribly but still made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs both years... The start is obviously important to a degree but we need to win games in the middle and end of the season, which we haven't done the last 3 years.
  5. Offset language (basically allowing the team to void all his guarantees if he's punished by the league for any reason). It's very rare for teams to cave on this, but Jacksonville notably did for Lawrence this year. The Jets have never caved on this and maintain a stance that they never will because if they do it for 1 player it could open the door to every other draft pick they have in the future pushing for it and saying "well Wilson got it, why can't I?" Wilson looks at it and is probably thinking Lawrence didn't have offset language and why should his guaranteed money be at the mercy of a ridiculous league that can screw players over as they see fit at times. Most notable hold out due to this was Joey Bosa with the Chargers, he held out well into training camp I believe. Don't remember the exact resolution but I think the Chargers upped his upfront signing bonus in exchange for him agreeing to have the offset language in the contract.
  6. I don't see how it can be a problem. If he causes issues you do what the Rags did and cut ties, we're out less than $1m, so what. Upside is insanely huge, this guy is one of the best offensive D men in the league, honestly right up there with Dougie as a PP1 QB. Absolute bargain if Rod can help keep his head on straight for this season. We better be using the cap space saved by letting Dougie walk on some top 6 forward upgrades though. We still have a lot of cap space for that.
  7. Lack of autograph availability is a huge deal for a lot of the people with kids who would normally go.
  8. For longer term career earnings he'd be wise to bet on himself this year, but many players who are happy where they're at will sign a fair deal before blowing up. He seems like the type of guy who would do the latter.
  9. How will new posters recognize my dominance here without my pie count visible?
  10. Wouldn't be wise for anyone to trade for him until he's in the clear with his current legal issues and any punishment by the league is 100% known. I'm not holding my breath on that coming very soon or before the season. I can absolutely see it happening before next season and us trading for him next offseason, but still find it unlikely we make it happen this year.
  11. I’m still fuging pissed at JR for bending over and letting that happen. $14M in cap space down the drain because of that nonsense.
  12. I like Horn and this guy does good videos and I’m definitely hyped but just so I don’t get overly excited and potentially let down I just feel the need to say that I bought into the Isaiah Oliver hype from him a few years back and that guy was a massive bust...
  13. I may be wrong but I didn't think this was possible. Thought you could only replace the tag with a long term deal...
  14. Wish it was 5+ years. The guy is a beast and this will be a steal in that last season of the deal as other tackles get paid more than him in the next 2-3 years. Glad we got that done and have at least 1 position on the line that is set for the immediate future.
  15. I disagree. They'll be worse than they've been the last 2 years but they won't be "screwed" by any means. They'll lose some forward and defensive depth, but it'll still be solid and they'll surely return with the same core pieces and that's more than enough for them to continue to compete. I don't think they'll be clear favorites like they have been the last several years, but they'll be the favorites to come out of the Atlantic and should still be able to win a playoff series or two and maybe go even further.
  16. Wanted Montreal to win but this was expected. The cap stuff was a bit questionable but they're clearly the class of the league the past few years. Hard to be upset, they're just insanely good top to bottom. May have the best roster of skaters in the league AND the best clear best goalie in the league the past 2 years. Just crazy. And that roster is largely built from drafting/developing players. Impressive run, hopefully we can help put an end to it next year. Glad we aren't permanently in a division with them though.
  17. well I guess we're outta luck this year too then, better not bother watching the team this year
  18. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/07/02/cowboys-return-to-hard-knocks-for-the-third-time/ Thank god it wasn't us. Will be fun watching the Jerry Jones shitshow up close this year.
  19. Lawrence will do enough to get them to the playoffs as soon as year 2, and likely keep them there for a while. I see Meyer lasting 4-5+ years with moderate success but without a SB probably getting replaced at some point.
  20. I was excited about the pick from the start because this dude just oozed insane pass rushing talent, but those were some fair concerns at the time. Of course they look stupid now. Also, while this is a nice stat with the pressures, it's just one stat. He's definitely one of the best young pass rushers in the league but I wouldn't call him the best yet just based off of having the most pressures. He still needs to work on finishing up those pressures with more sacks.
