Let's fuging go Cinci!!!! They blew it, we may actually get Sewell or Fields now!
-
There's a reason no TE has ever been picked that high before and it's not because Pitts is that good. He's an outstanding player, but that's just poor value for a team with as many holes as the Falcons have...
-
Trade up with Miami and take Fields please.
-
Hahahaha what a stupid pick from the Falcons. Pure luxury pick for that team. Love it
-
I hope the Aints trade up for him or Falcons take him
-
Preferred it be Mac but at least they didn’t snatch Fields
-
Hope the Falcons take him and we get Fields either trading up to 5/6 or ideally just sitting at 8. Pitts is a luxury and would not be the right move for this team.
-
If we trade back we're not gonna pick until midnight. So dumb.
-
Don't fuging do this to me. That would be the dumbest thing imaginable.

I love that The Golden Calf of Bristol is automatically corrected to The Golden Calf of Bristol. His ego got in the way of him sticking in professional sports -- he could've easily done this nearly a decade ago and probably stuck around for a while as a role player. But that was beneath him so he went to baseball. Moron.

Yeah I'll trust the front office no matter what happens tonight and let it play out but I can't lie I'd be extremely disappointed if we pass up on Fields. If it's Lance sitting there, while I'd still like to take him, I'd be fine with passing him up, but Fields is the best QB prospect we're gonna have a chance at for a long time if you ask me. He's the clear #2 player in this draft behind TL in my eyes and we could actually have a chance at him falling to us and pass it up. If it's Sewell that'll make it easier to stomach but anyone else and it'll be a rough night for me...

How would you feel if we traded 8 to the Pats and they take Fields???
t96 replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah in a trade down scenario where the team we trade with is getting a QB we need it to be a fleecing. These types of trades ALWAYS are at the time. We should be getting a future 1st, this year's 2nd and more frankly. -

Seriously though, your extra comment in the OP makes this question completely retarded. Of course every single Panthers fan would be pissed in that scenario, but it's a highly unlikely "what if." We could trade down with the Pats today and they could take Fields and whoever we take could wind up being a perennial All-Pro and Fields could wind up busting. We'd all be happy in that scenario. My thoughts on this trade happening today would depend on what picks we get in the trade and who we take, but ultimately I trust Rhule and company and we'd just have to wait to see how it plays out. If we pass up on Fields I'll be a bit disappointed since I really like him but I'll be fine with it as I trust Brady/Rhule and if they don't love Fields then I have no issues with them not forcing the issue. -
And still predictably choke today and tomorrow despite having a HoF QB...
-
Watch them do it and take Sewell and then trade Ramczyk to some other team for a starting CB...

How would you feel if we traded 8 to the Pats and they take Fields??? How would you feel if Darnold becomes an all world talent the Pats could've just traded for themselves and Fields predictably flames out ? -
damn bro that's even worse than if we traded up for Mac Jones

I think the most important thing to consider regarding the Fields/Pats rumors in recent days is when was the last time a Belichick move/draft pick was telegraphed? I'm gonna go ahead and say NEVER. If Belichick really wanted Fields this badly and was willing to pay a ton to move up and get him, does anyone really believe he'd telegraph it like this and it would be the main thing the media is reporting on for the Pats in the days leading up to the draft? I highly doubt that. Yes, we've seen crazier things but even with Belichick going out of character with the aggressive FA, nobody saw any of those signings coming until they happened. I'd be shocked if the Pats trade up for Fields. I think it's more likely they really want Lance or some other non-QB and the Fields stuff is just a part of them leaking stuff to help the chances of their guy slipping. We'll find out soon enough
-
If Fields is there at 8 and Sewell is gone do you really think we pass him up for Waddle or Horn/Farley? I really just can't see that. My guess is it won't matter and Fields is gone in the top 6 anyways, but we'll find out in less than 12 hours... Thanks for sharing this Verge, good stuff.

I think our defense, offensive weapons, OL and coaching all wound up being good enough that yes even with Grier we probably have a similar record. Couldn't get much worse than Teddy at times, especially in the clutch.
-
Don't get me wrong, I completely agree signing Teddy was a bad decision. I was just responding to your point about us having Teddy to thank for drafting 8th (presumably instead of picking higher). I don't think he really hurt us in that regard. It's not like without Teddy we'd have been in play for Lawrence or Wilson... Unless the coaching staff blatantly tanked (which wasn't going to happen no matter who was at QB) we weren't going to realistically be in play for the top handful of picks regardless.
-
I'm not convinced at all that we'd have a worse record with Grier or Kyle starting all season... In fact I think with Allen we may have had 1 or 2 more wins even.

Oops, I was looking at 2020 numbers not 2021 numbers so I think you guys are right. We're only saving $3M in dead cap compared to releasing him, not $16M. Still much better for us than releasing him but I don't know how it compares to if we had traded him without the restructure. I tried to edit the OP but can't, please ignore those numbers they are completely off.
