Wish it was 5+ years. The guy is a beast and this will be a steal in that last season of the deal as other tackles get paid more than him in the next 2-3 years. Glad we got that done and have at least 1 position on the line that is set for the immediate future.

I disagree. They'll be worse than they've been the last 2 years but they won't be "screwed" by any means. They'll lose some forward and defensive depth, but it'll still be solid and they'll surely return with the same core pieces and that's more than enough for them to continue to compete. I don't think they'll be clear favorites like they have been the last several years, but they'll be the favorites to come out of the Atlantic and should still be able to win a playoff series or two and maybe go even further.

Wanted Montreal to win but this was expected. The cap stuff was a bit questionable but they're clearly the class of the league the past few years. Hard to be upset, they're just insanely good top to bottom. May have the best roster of skaters in the league AND the best clear best goalie in the league the past 2 years. Just crazy. And that roster is largely built from drafting/developing players. Impressive run, hopefully we can help put an end to it next year. Glad we aren't permanently in a division with them though.

Lawrence won't be a rookie QB next year. -

well I guess we're outta luck this year too then, better not bother watching the team this year -
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/07/02/cowboys-return-to-hard-knocks-for-the-third-time/ Thank god it wasn't us. Will be fun watching the Jerry Jones shitshow up close this year.

Lawrence will do enough to get them to the playoffs as soon as year 2, and likely keep them there for a while. I see Meyer lasting 4-5+ years with moderate success but without a SB probably getting replaced at some point. -
I was excited about the pick from the start because this dude just oozed insane pass rushing talent, but those were some fair concerns at the time. Of course they look stupid now. Also, while this is a nice stat with the pressures, it's just one stat. He's definitely one of the best young pass rushers in the league but I wouldn't call him the best yet just based off of having the most pressures. He still needs to work on finishing up those pressures with more sacks.

My SUV sh*t the bed earlier this year and I took advantage of carmax to get rid of a problem vehicle for a ridiculously good price not too long ago. Now I'm daily driving my classic T-bird and am in need of a new truck (looking at fully loaded mid-size, leaning Ranger tremor right now but also looking at ZR2 and Tacos). This market absolutely blows, all the trucks I look at are pretty much sold before they even get to the lot for sticker or above. I like driving my bird and it's in great shape so I've been able to buy myself a bit of time but who knows when things will change. My deadline to get a new truck is when snow hits here in Boston, and I'm not hopeful that things will be much better by then... My thoughts are at least it can't get worse than right now. Have also thought about buying a stopgap vehicle for the winter essentially but prices are inflated pretty much across the board and there aren't many great options for that.

His injury concerns me and I'm not sure his contract makes sense for us. Phenomenal player and having 1a and 1b centers of Eichel and Aho would be insane. But I'd rather we just stay the course and develop our own prospects/young players and continue to make shrewd deals like the Trocheck and Nino deals.

Ehh, he was the BPA and it really wasn't close. For a rebuilding team like the Lions that's a good pick, just need to sort it out now.

Won the Jack Adams award today too (best coach). What a day for him, and amazingly on the 17th of the month (his old jersey number). Love Rod and I bet we win a Cup with him in the next 3 years.

Rhule see’s Brady Christensen more of a RT or OG than a LT
t96 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Is there some stat that backs this up? I can't see why a LT would have a higher risk of injury than RT... Those are fair points but I just don't see that much risk in trying to switch. If it does work out and he dominates at the more valuable position that helps him. If not then he can go back to RT. He's not gonna all of a sudden lose those skills there just from switching sides. -
Well deserved and the obvious choice. I think he’ll be a top 10 player within 2-3 years. Just need to properly build around him now.

t96 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
not really clear if you're saying whether he should be for or against a LT move? I'd think he should be for it, as the earning potential is significantly higher for a great LT. Even if he doesn't work out at LT like he has at RT I don't think that would harm his value that much, he's already proven he can play RT at a very high level. That's not gonna change with a year of less than stellar LT tape, if that's what were to happen. Honestly though, from the team's perspective I don't really see any other option at LT this season, except maybe planning to scheme around it, but we've seen how well that has worked with other coaches since Gross retired... Brady is theoretically better than Shula/Turner but still wouldn't be too excited about Erving or someone else at LT. It's a glaring weakness unless we try Moton there and RT would be less of a weakness with Christensen or Erving or whoever... -
Sounds good, just know that there are definitely a fair amount of people here that appreciated the work you did with stats/analysis a few years back and would still appreciate it now!

Agreed. Nice to have you both here, seems like you were gone for a few years @KB_fan, looking forward to some more good statistics, insight and discussion

What could Ha Ha Clinton-Dix bring to the Carolina Panthers?
t96 replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
honestly not the worst type of player to take a chance on to pair with Chinn who is kinda the opposite (but not bad in pass defense). no risk -
I'm a little less diehard than I was a few years back ('13-'17ish) where I could easily name every player on the 53 and the practice squad and also the large majority of the camp bodies on the 90 man roster (going to camp regularly back then certainly helped too...). Probably in the 40-50+ range right now. Starters and notable/main backups are easy and then maybe a handful of others, but I pretty much don't know any of the camp bodies/guys not likely to make the team...

Speaking of the guys who call Panther games: Steve Smith, Sr.
t96 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Awesome, he’ll be very entertaining for sure. -
I maintain that Smitty on a team like the prime 49ers would put up career numbers similar to Jerry Rice. Dude fuging dominated in a run first offense his entire career and mostly as the only true passing threat on the team drawing all the coverage. Top 5 WR of all time.

Tepper says "no way in hell" he'll build a dome
t96 replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Retractable roof sucks for fans who want to see the game played in the elements like it should be because it'll be closed 100% of the time that it's raining, snowing, etc. -

Retractable which will be closed in anything less than perfect weather incoming. Should’ve asked him about grass too once the soccer crap isn’t happening at the same stadium. -
Horn should be on Ridley. Chinn, Shaq and others can work on Pitts, though I highly doubt Pitts is that big of a threat his rookie year.
-
He had a big contract but a 2nd round pick really isn’t good value for a player of his caliber. Glad he’s out of the division.
