Official Pittsburgh Steelers at Carolina Panthers Gameday Thread

I just think in preseason both teams should be on the same page otherwise it’s just pointless. Tough with preseason changing this year and the Steelers having 4 games to our 3 but we should’ve played starters against the Ravens or a Colts and not today with the Steelers not playing any. But whatever. -

Defense did what they should be expected to do as starters vs backups. Easy 3 and out. Good stuff but not going to read too much into it -

I find it so silly we’re playing starters for a half and Steelers aren’t playing any starters. -

Ex-Patriots QB Says Cam Newton 'Distracted' By Rap Music
t96 replied to Greatman77's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol what a jackass. Cam played music here all the time and it was never an issue. This thread really doesn't belong in the Panthers forum though. -
He's going into his 2nd year as OC
-
I like him a lot but some of the red zone, short yardage and situational play calling has been pretty damn terrible at times. Hopefully he can grow in those areas, and I think he will. There's a reason he's already gotten head coaching buzz...

1st & 2nd Rd Draft Picks (2017-Present) - Pretty Cool

Also that’s 3 different GMs... -
If our coverage is good, nowadays it can be better to not be kicking TBs. Can often get the returner down before the 25. But of course a risk of them housing one. I trust our coverage under Blackburn so not necessarily concerned about the TB rate if we do wind up going with this guy as our kicker.

I don't have a problem with it, just don't expect it to solve our kicking position.

a little early to be drinking

Skjei is staying, he's one of our core D and absolutely needed with Dougie gone. 2 of our top 4 D slots would be weaknesses without Skjei. I think we'll make a play for Tarasenko but it would require getting rid of Gardiner (either in the same trade or a separate one). Seattle didn't take Tarasenko for free so it won't cost much more (if at all) than whatever assets we have to give to get rid of Gardiner's contract or to get retention from the Blues or a possible 3rd party. We're talking 2nd round pick(s) and/or middling prospects. I could also still see us being in on Eichel, would be a huge splash win-now move but he could take this team over the top. Could cost Necas or Trocheck, Jarvis and more though so I'm not the biggest fan of it but he'd be a perfect fit for Rod and would give us just insane center depth. Would be exciting anyways... As for this Svech contract -- absolutely amazing deal for us. I bet the last 5-6 years of the deal look like an absolute robbery if he takes the step forward we expect him to take and the cap goes up as it likely will once the league recovers from the pandemic a bit. Also, this contract doesn't get signed if we keep Dougie, and keeping him would've impacted our ability to re-sign Necas too.

I hope you're right.

That's fair, but it could also fit Slye or anyone else we sign. I'd like a proven solid veteran at kicker. Because for every Akers or Tucker that we give a chance out of the nobodies, there are dozens of guys who will lose us games. At this point I'm no more confident about this guy than I am about Slye.
-
The most likely outcome outside of sticking with Joey is that he wins the job initially, gets a shot the first few games but at some point during the season starts stinking it up which shows why MN didn't want him kicking FGs and he hasn't gotten a shot in the NFL before. Then we lose the pick and still have sh*tty kicking. I hope he's just great but this isn't a very inspiring trade. He's just some scrub nobody, and we have no real reason to believe that he'll be any better than Slye at this point...

https://www.bettingpros.com/nfl/odds/player-futures/defensive-player-of-year/ You have to scroll down a lot to find Burns, but I still see some at +12500 -- MGM and "partycasino" I'm not much of a gambler so no idea about this site's accuracy but seems legit and updated recently.

Rookie numbers, no wonder Snow beat him

May drop $100 on it, those odds are completely absurd.

He was carted off the field last week during practice, so the latter.
-
I still can't believe how someone with his size could play so damn small.

Teddy Bridgewater named starter over Drew Lock
t96 replied to @bonafidebanter's topic in Carolina Panthers
Who's gonna start the thread about all the Pats reporters saying that Mac Jones has won the starting job? Cam lost his starting job to a scrub rookie partly because he wasn't vaccinated and had to miss a chunk of camp due to covid protocols... -
Who's life sucks and wants to make some money?

Damn this should've been in the main forum, woulda been an all time Huddle great, maybe even up there with the pink flaps dude. Drunk post or not I hope you follow through with this and succeed, sounds cool. -
That's an unfounded concern.
