Gettledouche was an unmitigated disaster in NY and had his share of issues here, but at the end of the day him paired with Rivera was our best stretch in franchise history. 5 years together, 4 playoff seasons, 3 of those seasons resulting in at least a divisional round appearance and one SB appearance along with a 15 win season. Yes of course I know Cam was in his prime during those years, but still that is a very successful stretch run and it's clear as day to me that even if Rhule had Cam in his prime right now we wouldn't be as good as we were in that stretch.

Cousins/JimmyG makes a lot of sense for Rhule (not the Panthers)

I know the situation is very dire right now but things can turn around insanely fast in this league and a new staff can overcome any issues from the previous staff. Yes that requires Tepper to hire competent people (and get rid of the current incompetent people) which I don't have any confidence in right now, but he could still get lucky. Look at the Rams, they traded a ton of draft capital (including a future 5th overall pick) for frigging Jared Goff who was one of the worst QBs in the entire league his rookie year then hire McVay and immediately have 5 straight winning seasons and 2 SB appearances, finally winning it once they got a true franchise QB. Chiefs too with Reid. Obviously McVay wasn't proven but that type of turn around is exactly why I so badly want us to get a proven successful Harbaugh, he would come in and immediately turn this team around and have immediate and sustained success. Tepper just needs to get his head out of his ass and fire Rhule and give Harbaugh whatever he wants. -
I've followed his career in Russia very closely. At the time we drafted him he had flashed at the world juniors that year and showed all the tools (size, flexibility, instincts, etc.) to be an elite NHL goalie at that time after being pretty much unknown the year before (he was an overager in the draft, so he went undrafted a few times and re-entered the draft, by that time his stock increased a ton and we took him high in the 2nd round). Since then he really struggled to get consistent playing time and carve out a role as a starter and because of that he couldn't get on a roll and his play was inconsistent. Finally last year he got traded to Torpedo (KHL team) and has been consistently great since that trade, being arguably a top 5 goalie in the KHL this year. I'm really excited about the kid but people need to temper expectations on his timeline. He may get a few starts in the NHL this year to see how he does but his track record and sample size of consistently strong play is very limited for a goalie prospect. We brought him over now because the KHL season ended and he had nowhere to play but I still fully expect him to go back to the KHL next year as both Raanta and Freddie are still under contract plus we have Makiniemi and now LaFontaine in the AHL already getting a ton of the starts. I would expect he gets a top 2 spot with the Canes starting in the '23-'24 season, but will definitely be fun to see how he does in his stop in North America right now.

How far would the Stafford led Panthers have gone?
t96 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Easily make the playoffs as a wildcard with Stafford, then a quick out in the first round. -
Yep Rhule is trash and a douche but Apple is too, screw him
-
Fair but they do have a franchise QB on a rookie deal, teams with that typically do very well for a little while.
-
I won’t lose any sleep over it that’s for sure. Don’t really care or think that much about non-Panthers and no I won’t jump ship but have fun with that
-
They’ve got a young (and cheap) core. Not sold on their coach at all or even Burrow but with him and Chase on rookie deals I don’t think they’re going anywhere soon.
-
Last 2 SB winners are mercenary teams that weren’t built through the draft at all.
-
So to all the fools saying to ignore OL because of this Bengals team fug NO. We need to build an elite (or at least serviceable) OL ASAP.
-
HORRIBLE play call. You can’t run it there and be short of the line and waste a timeout.
-
It’s hard to reconcile really liking guys like Stafford, Donald, Weddle and hating guys like OBJ and Von Miller
-
Not as likely with this OL against this pass rush though.... Brady had a lot of time in those Giants games and did nothing against that pass rush, Rams isn’t quite as good as those Giants teams but it’s up there
-
Stafford to Kupp, is anyone surprised? Both are very clutch. Now comes down to D, Bengals OL I don’t think can hold up but they only need a FG to tie it...
-
Lol Eli Apple you douche
-
Lol yeah just bad officiating both ways as is usual
-
That was a soft ass call, make up call for the missed facemask earlier?
-
Oof Stafford that was terrible he was wide open. And clock stops
-
Gotta call the best plays to score a TD, their pass rush has been dominating Bengals OL lately so just focus on taking a 3 point lead and not time.
-
I am fully in favor of getting a bruiser RB to handle more of the load on the ground and use McCaffrey more creatively and as a receiver. Somehow gotta keep him healthy if he stays here. At this point those injuries clearly weren’t just flukes, his body can’t handle that kinda workload (like many of us expected when we drafted him and as cool as it was to see him go 1000/1000 Rivera ran him into the ground like he did Cam such a shame)
-
Stafford gets a lot of poo but the dude has been clutch his whole career. Well it all comes down to now
-
Vonn Bell is still in the league and playing in the clutch in the Super Bowl? Wow. That dude sucked with the Aints
-
McVay is incredibly overrated
-
On guys like Brady, Brees, etc. yeah but it shouldn’t and Burrow isn’t quite at princess level for NFL refs yet to get calls like that. You know Cam would never get that call
