Kyle Brandt (Good Morning Football): Panthers will win NFC South
t96 replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ehh they did make the NFCCG last year and Shanahan has done incredible things with the team pretty much whenever Jimmy G has been healthy and playing decently. Lance is a question mark but at least offers massive upside over Jimmy G. I don't think they win the NFCW either but I don't think it's that outrageous. There are big surprises every year and many teams do suffer SB hangovers, plus Stafford's shoulder is a question mark too. -
Strongly disagree on OL and QB. Our starting OL is set and likely to be above average and we have better depth players there than many teams, especially considering Brady's ability to shift to tackle if Moton or Ickey were to go down. Elf and Irving, while not ideal starters, are solid backups as is Jordan. QB, I know we all hate Sam, after last year I never wanted to see him in a Panthers jersey again. His contract is a disaster and he's not a starter in this league. But he is a better backup than most teams have. He has plenty of issues but most backups have significantly worse issues and aren't even capable of playing at the level that Sam is capable of playing, as we saw from him the first month of last season. Reality is for 95% of teams if their starting QB goes down long term they are completely fuged. You'll have some outliers like Foles/Eagles, Cassel/Pats (they missed playoffs but went 11-5), etc. The question is whether your backup can win a game or a small number of games if the starter misses a shorter amount of time. I don't like Sam or his contract one bit but I'll gladly take him over guys like John Wolford, Blaine Gabbert, Brian Hoyer, etc. We disagree, so be it. I hope we never find out who is right and we just stay healthy.

89 should absolutely be retired, along with 51. 1, 58, 59 I don't believe have been worn since their retirements and they have arguments as well to never be worn again but not as set in stone to me as Smitty and Mills.

Defensive front 7 is thin but other than that I think we're pretty deep. Foreman is a solid backup RB, TE we don't have a great starter but have a handful of decent backup guys, WR as you said is deep, QB is deep with Sam healthy (although drastically overpaid), and OL is probably deeper than it's ever been (deep enough that Daley who has started a bunch of games for us and was sought after by another team couldn't even make our roster). DB our deepest it's ever been too.

Which matchup are you most looking forward to this Sunday
t96 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
who calls him Eke...? Most critical outside of Baker and our OL is definitely our run defense. I expect Chubb and Hunt to have success against our run D but we need to mitigate the damage significantly better than our run D from last year if we want to win. I think this offense is going to take a few months to really gel and the defense will need to prove itself early if we're going to be a true playoff contender. -
sweet hope that's the case for me, I'll get back from a 4 hour drive and hopefully sit down to watch a nice win with Baker dominating
-
At the pats joint practices I attended it was quite obvious the biggest leaders on D were Shaq, Burns, Chinn and Donte. I'd be pretty shocked if Chinn doesn't get a captaincy this year.

"pretty quickly" as in, should be up by Sunday night?

Packers lost Adams but gained a lot defensively and Rodgers is likely still able to play at his MVP level, I wouldn't bet against them being in the NFCCG. Don't see them winning it all but they've made the championship game 2 of the last 3 years and were very close last year too. Aints obviously ain't making it, King is drunk
-
fair but it wasn't an impressive draft at all. despite the pre-draft nonsense, Cam was a no-brainer 1st overall pick and not screwing up a 1st overall pick with a generational QB there isn't impressive, it's just not royally fuging it up...
-
They are one of the best teams on our schedule, so they are more like the difference between 12 and 14 wins
-
We play them twice, they don’t have a big impact on our final win-loss record. And with their OL issues they are entirely beatable in BoA
-
I could see 11-12 wins easily if we stay fully healthy and Mayfield and the line prove to be the real deal. That’s probably our ceiling in a perfect situation. Agree our floor is less
-
cool thanks I'll give both a try.

Got invited to the US Open Men's Finals next Sunday right at 1pm and it's too good an offer to pass up despite conflicting with my favorite weekend pastime. So I gotta avoid the score until later when I can watch the game on repeat. I'm in the Boston area so can't just record it as I watch the games with the online sunday ticket and that only offers live. I think in the past NFL Gamepass provided replays but that is gone now. Does NFL+ offer regular season game replays and if so does anyone know how quickly they'll be put up? Ideally I'd like to watch it that night as I'm sure people at work on Monday would intentionally or unintentionally fug with me with the score... Any other possibilities or tips?

Although if Hurney had his way in 2020 we may have Herbert right now… word was he wanted to trade up for him. At the time I hated that idea but in hindsight it would’ve been franchise changing

Arians has his issues but he has had a lot of success out of Tampa too. If not for us being dominant for 17 games in 2015 he probably brings AZ to the Super Bowl. Also was great for the Colts when filling in for the HC who had cancer. I don't like the guy but there's no denying he knows the game very well. He's also never had below 7 wins in a season in 9 years as a HC. Rhule has 5 wins in 2 straight seasons. I'm not giving up on Rhule like others quite yet, but I do think you need at least an adequate HC to have success in this league. There's just so much that goes into it, ability to adjust midgame is so important, etc. Maybe you can get around that with a HoF talent at QB but otherwise I don't think so

Looking at overthecap for next year it really doesn't look to be an issue at all. Several guys whose contracts are easily restructured/extended to bring down the cap hit next year. Other guys (Robbie, Elflein) who are easy to cut for big cap savings. Then in 2024 with the majority of our core still under contract we have $120M in cap space. Plus as it stands right now we'll carry over about $13M next year so will only be $7M over to start the offseason. Extending Burns alone could get us to about $5M in cap space easily.

Is that it? Dude is an elite superstar scorer, how does he command that much less than Rudy friggin Gobert
-
is it just me or does he not look all that much bigger than TMJ in this picture?
-
Don't forget the food and beverage, the TopCats and Sir Purr. Oh and a DJ! Seriously, for that price you should at least get a happy ending from one of the cheerleaders... Although the way Tep runs the team it'd probably be from one of the dudes
-
Teams put way too many bells and whistles around the game these days it's just silly. The only "experience" I care to see is my team kicking ass on the field. Everything else takes away from the experience, in my opinion. Greedy motherfuger but if there are suckers out there who will pay for this then I can't really blame Tep.

Loving the Panthers is like crapping at an interstate Exxon

SCP, don't ever leave again -
Fine with me, I don’t care about other teams’ scraps anyways.
