  1. When you rebuild you don't trade away young players, that's incredibly stupid. You trade away older players who don't fit your next playoff window.
  2. That's absolutely false. Tackles have the highest success rate of any position. Doesn't mean their all pro bowlers though.
  3. They've been reading this forum apparently. Lol.
  4. You don't want our futute QB upright and healthy? Don't miss the forest for the trees. Cam's best years were with his best protection.
  5. It's based on the results of a character in a TV show. Not exactly what I would call solid evidence of the theory.
  6. Headed into 2020: There was no way the 49ers weren't a playoff team. There was no way the Texans were one of the worst teams in the league. There was no way Washington was a team that could make the playoffs, and not be a bottom feeder team. The Eagles were not a bottom feeder team. The Falcons weren't worse than the Panthers. No one has a clue what injuries, luck, and countless other variables will have on these teams. We could be the worst team in football or a playoff team. None of this is black and white.
  7. The 49ers are with their roster, and they're a QB away. You never know. Honestly I'm not so sure there are 4 franchise QBs in this draft. It's pretty rare to begin with and Fields and Lance have a lot of red flags to me. I think you're seeing values inflated because so many teams need a QB, and the media sells it because QBs turn on tv sets for the draft. Carolina cannot get suckered in this draft and end up trading up for a bad QB and lose tons of draft picks. Everyone hates Teddy, but how would we like to have Teddy 2.0 the next 2 years and no ability to address QB or our other major holes? You can do good things with guys like Goff with a good team, but you're abysmal with them and a bad team. Waiting and being patient can suck, but Super Bowle are forever.
  8. But they're a QB away from SB contenders. Carolina isn't in that position. We need draft picks along with a QB. How would the Panthers solve their problems on defense and the o-line without a 1st rd pick for the next 2 years?
  9. Not worried about it unless we really blow this draft. 2022 draft is where I start to panic if we can't get a QB to replace Teddy. I think 23 is our first shot at making a run at the Super Bowl if we can get a franchise QB and draft well in other areas. 21 isn't a playoff year for us, and 22 is still probably talent wise short of a deep playoff run. I don't care for losing with or without style, so rushing a QB isn't important to me.
  10. Love taking an LT if the top 4 QBs are gone.
  11. Makes sense for the 49ers. They really only need a QB. The Panthers are much farther away.
  12. This won't be cleared up prior to the draft. We shouldn't trade for a player who may not play games this upcoming season.
  13. Unless it's a 7th rounder we shouldn't be making this trade. Watson is in serious trouble.
  14. Something like 1 in 20 sexual assault cases are made up. The odds Watson is completely innocent is really bad. We should stay away. The cost to us to trade for him, and the risk of him not playing are way too high right now. Plus, if it turns out the allegations are true, the negative media for the Panthers would ve brutal and lasting on top of all of the above.
  15. If a QB of value isn't there I think you absolutely have to look at LT. Find a guy that can protect your future. As long as we have a bubble gum and scotch tape line, any QB we have is doomed to a short career and injuries.
  16. Yes, it's the only one with teeth! Lol I've been around since a lot of the guys on here were on the Scout.com Panthers board was the biggest Carolina Panthers board online. I like Teddy the person. Great guy. Not so much as our QB, and I thought he'd be way better, but I was wrong. I've always been Mr Patient, build through the draft, be careful in FA, sign good contracts. That puts you in a position to make that one trade for a QB, or what have you, to put you over the top and into the SB conversation. And I don't believe in losing on purpose. Everything I've said in here is in line with those values. Teddy is a bad contract, and every QB left is a backup level talent you're going to use to compete with backup level talent. That's bad money chasing bad money for negligible benefit. We've made a bad signing, don't compound it with another one. Let's make smart moves and set ourselves up to get that QB in this draft or next that is either ready right away or can sit and learn behind PJ, Teddy, or whoever.
  17. Don't understand the fascination with signing a temporary QB to replace our temporary QB. Is the hate boner for Teddy wearing off so we need another backup quality starter to get a new raging hate boner for? Sometimes I wonder if we like watching this team blow money.
  18. Which is what he was saying. It's hard for Golden Boys surrounded by the league's best talent to the NFL on a badly talented team. A lot of guys can't handle that adversity for firsr time in their entire lives.
  19. The starting defense certainly looks more like an NFL starting defense with the current personnel, minus half the secondary. The problems will be injuries, and FAs not playing up to expectations. There's not a lot of depth behind this group, and I think we're still a year away from having that "Panthers defense" we've grown accustom too. If we stay disciplined and don't give up too much chasing assists this off-season we could really find some answers on the OL and hopefully our next Franchise QB.
  20. A lot of good and a lot of scary. This is why I'm so against trading the world for these guys right now. It's incredible how different these guys put these QBs draft positions. We're a team that has a lot of holes to fill, and I don't see us in a position to take shots. A QB is the most important position in football, but if Cleveland proved anything It's that you can spend the better part of 3 decades drafting QB after QB and you can doom them all to failure without a team to compliment them.
  21. Eh I beg to differ, but not that Hurney was an idiot, that part is right. The Saints are going to have to pay for their CAP situation sooner or later, it will catch up and bite them hard soon. Hurney's problem is he bid with himself on players, that were frequently high risk due to injury and and age. But for Hurney, hope that these players could return to former glory sprung eternal. He compounded that by not signing valuable young players the Panthers already had, and the signings he made in FA of the vets often prevented this from happening as well. This was further compounded by him signing the occasional awful contract, and then signing more, but more manageable bad contracts in FA trying to hold on tight to a playoff window the door was already shut on. Then we completely fall apart and start over from dust.
  22. Really hope he has a resurgent season, but man this season was ugly.
  23. Signing an LT on the wrong side of 30, coming off a massive injury would be the most Panthers thing that could happen this off-season.
  24. It feels like someone is going to use this to their advantage and rob us absolutely blind.
  25. I think that's stupid too. If you're a contender it makes sense. If you're like us where you're looking for about 6 guys on defense, and 2-3 on offense + a QB it's dumb. Play the long game.
