So... Sam Darnold. Are you encouraged or discouraged
Madwolf replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Some good and bad tonight. I think Sam will be okay, but we have to keep him upright and not let him start hearing footsteps. There was a clear difference between "good Sam" and "bad Sam" tonight, and you could see it when his feet started dancing or not. If we get him right between the ears we might have something here. -
It's a brutal league. Love the kid, but we can't keep waiting for him to fix it. A year off to go get himself right might be exactly what he needs. Hope he gets it right and goes onto have a nice career with another team.

Slye just saw that, and he's about to go get his helmet and change jerseys! -

Oh lord, are we going to talk about how we're a Super Bowl team all week now? Last week we were jumping off bridges. Keep it even boys and girls. It's just pre-season. -

For sure. Slye could always try his hand at LBer for this team. lol, he sort of looks like one at times. -

Is CP your alt? Give the kid some credit man. He's not your starter, he's a backup, and he has had himself a nice pre-season the last 2 outings. -

Poor Joey man. I feel sorry for him, but you gotta get it done. I hope he's able to get his mental game back, and go on to have a respectable career. This is the season of heartbreak for so many guys. -

I tell you what, the team speed is so much better than it was 2 years ago when Ron left. Watching us get beat to the edge by everyone in the NFL was just painful. -

Will Grier puts 10 points worth of drives on the board tonight, and we found a new kicker. What a 180 from where we were at the start of camp. I'm happy to have been wrong about Grier being done in Carolina. -

Man Taylor has had himself a good night. He's making the folks back home in Washington super proud tonight. -

Who cares? Let him be entertaining. He's not out there using "inappropriate" language or anything, he's just calling it like he sees it. Smitty is the right kind of "non-pc" person. -

Yeah man, I really wanted him to take the final spot. Hopefully he can turn this set back into a year of growth and come out flying next year. -

Gross-Matos sighting. He wasn't letting that get away. I really hope he works out, I've been rooting for him, and he's got such a good frame. If he can get it clicking he can be dominant. -

I feel that so much. Louisville was lucky enough to have an announcer that was fantastic for almost 20 years in football and basketball. And he retired 2 years ago. Everyone else just hasn't been the same. It so deflating to go through that. Right now we have our radio guy, Paul Rogers, whose been around my entire 34 years on the planet, and I just don't know what I'm going to do when he retires. Just absolute legend, and quality guy. -

Yeah, I mean honestly I was surprised. That took some guts. He may have just earned his job and cost the other kid his. -

I'm not saying he's good. He can be bad and still wish him a good retirement. I don't think he is bad on purpose. Just wish him well, and hope the next guy is a heck of a lot better. It's like when guys transfer in college. It sucks, but wish them the best (unless they're playing you). -

I didn't see anything crazy, but he looks like he's in pain. Hate to see it for the young man. Hopefully it's just a stinger and he's able to get up and walk it off. Really hate to see anyone get injured, but it's heart breaking for these young guys that are fighting for their spot. I thought Shi had a good shot. -

I mean it was very high, and the WR did get his hands on it, but those are tough to pull down, especially for the guy who just suffered a horrible injury in practice that got a safety removed from the team. I don't think either are to blame for "not getting it done there." I think they did the best they can. The percentages were low, but they both gave us a shot to get it done. Every incompletion, and failed drive isn't a failure in itself. Sometimes the odds are low, and everything goes right and you still don't get it. -

I hope Mixon has a great retirement. I know he's not always been a favorite, but what a career, and let him go enjoy whatever he's going to do afterwards. -

I haven't noticed him, which for an offensive linemen I assume is a good thing. -

Yeah, anyone crapping on Grier for that series is jumping the gun. The screen wasn't his fault, and the 3rd and long as a prayer, yet he still got it to his guy where only he could get it. Wasn't complete, but we actually had a shot at a completion there. -

Man Charleton was a good get. Poo on Punters and Kickers all you want, but this defense is going to love this man. Sticking defenses instead the 20 is a massive deal for NFL defenses. The %s are crazy in your favor the closer you get to the 1 for the D.
