Definitely agree with you that it's a lot, but it's also 100x better than what they had.

Panthers sign OT Cam Erving - 2 years, 10 million, 8 fully guaranteed
DeSim replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
Elflein - backup center, will compete for either guard position, if doesn't win...decent backup for all 3 spots. Erving - played center in college, could compete for either guard position, could compete for the T position opposite of Moton. Decent backup for all 5 positions in the OL if loses out on any starting battles Versatile signings. Helps us in taking BPA in the draft. -
Huge win for Cam

So with this addition we now have a backup center/potential starting guard or backup to both guard positions if we bring back John Miller and draft another guard. Nice signing.

No, bring back John Miller and address one of the two remaining OL starting positions in the 2nd round. Many potential starting OL could be available by our second pick. Guys like Alex Leatherwood, Wyatt Davis, Jalen Mayfield, Dillon Radunz, Eichenberg, Trey Smith. Fill the remaining spot through free agency.

Trey Lance on nfl network as if 12pm est
DeSim replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Man...I can't wait for the draft day to get here already. Whether it's Deshaun or a rookie, we are getting a new starting QB, can't wait to see who that is going to be. -
Agreed, let's just hope the organization and coaching staff get it right this time in how to build around a superstar.

Report: 49ers called Panthers about Teddy Bridgewater
DeSim replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Possibly the only way the 49ers (or any team) agree to trade for Teddy is if we accept to still take on a huge part of that salary. I don't know exactly how that'll work but hell, I'm all for taking the fully amount guaranteed from this year if it means he's gone and if we can be clear completely from that contract heading into the 2022 offseason. -

Yeah I don’t care what they do with him either, just get him the hell out of here. I was just mentioning that for whoever wonders what that trade would mean for Jimmy G -

For those not reading the entire thing, and just the title.. Jimmy seems to be their guy, they just want a better backup. -
Exactly the same way I feel about him. If he's still available at our pick and the only QB left is Mac Jones, I hope some team that's in the Pitts hype train looks to trade with us in order to secure him.

Panthers land Trey Lance and 12 picks in the 2021 draft per this mock.
DeSim replied to Big Sexy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would definitely love this draft but the Lions offering their 2nd, 3rd, and 5th just to move up two spots in the 2nd round? Definitely not going to happen. Also, Creed Humphrey isn't dropping to the 3rd round. -
PFT: Seahawks want three #1 as starting point for Wilson trade.
DeSim replied to SCO96's topic in Carolina Panthers
True, but that offer is just a starting point, they'll definitely want more than just that. -

Yeah but that was only a single 1st round pick that we would've given up AND Teddy. No way to giving up 3 1st's. -
Depends on the type of tag, theres three: Non-exclusive, Exclusive, and Transition Tag. Non-exclusive, we can negotiate with Dak, if he agrees on an offer sheet with us, Cowboys can match it and keep him. If they don't match, then he's ours and that's when we have to compensate the Cowboys with 2 1st round picks. Cost of tag is average top 5 salaries in the position of the PREVIOUS 5 years. Exclusive, the player cannot negotiate with any other teams. Cost of tag is average of top 5 salaries in the position of the CURRENT year. Most costly. Transition, same as the non-exclusive but we don't have to give the Cowboys any compensation. Cost is average of top 10 salaries in the position of the PRIOR year. (For all 3, the cost are either those or 120% of the player's prior year salary, whichever is greater). The transition tag on Dak is most likely out of the question. If they place the Non-exclusive tag on him, I'd gladly give up 2 1st round picks for him.

Yup, but in all seriousness now, as mentioned in the tweet, definitely performs well in special teams and has played decent on offense when given the chance. Good move.

Huge news, now we can easily include DJ Moore and Robby in the package deal for Watson.

Whatever they offer, DEAL.

Still a bad contract for a mediocre player? Always fun going back and seeing some overreactions. I think I was spot on. Besides from the obvious of being 4 years younger than Kemba, and $16M cheaper...I mentioned he could improve, and he obviously definitely has, actually playing much better than Kemba. Plenty people were worried that this was going to keep us in the late lottery, I mentioned we would still land a top pick, and we got LaMelo. While Kemba is averaging 17.2 PPG, on a FG% of .384, 3PT% of .379 Rozier is averaging 21.1 PPG, on a FG% of .496, 3PT% .460 Although Rozier plays 5 minutes more per game than Kemba, they still both each average 15 shot attempts per game. Also, Rozier averages less turnovers on more playing time. Let's not forget either how well he plays on defense. One spot he does fall behind Kemba Walker is on free throws. Thank you Kupchak

The flashes he has shown is mostly, if not all on running downs. His issues are on pass protection, big issues. He should be kept around, but just as a backup...definitely need to find someone else to be the starter, he's not it.
-
C'mon man, it's pretty clear what he's saying... He thinks Lawrence is better than Wilson right now, but he thinks Wilson has more of a boom or bust potential than Lawrence, does someone take that risk over the safe thing?
-
Still year 2. I think they probably just said that to Tre to not make themselves look like dicks and straight up tell him that he's being let go because he's not good. It's not you, it's us...you don't suck, we just need to rebuild. What I find more interesting is him saying that he'll be back some way shape or form. Maybe he wants to get into coaching at some point.

Now before I begin, I get the upside in trading for DeShaun Watson, or trading up for Wilson/Fields...but I also get the downside in both, which is why I understand if the Panthers just decide to keep their picks and let the draft come to them. Although it would very much suck if Teddy Bridgewater is our starter heading into the next season, we got to understand it's a very likely possibility if we can't get Watson, and the QBs we want are gone by the time we pick, or we can't trade up. So, here we go... In this scenario, Zach Wilson and Justin Fields are gone, if the Panthers don't fall in love with Trey Lance, who would be good with this draft? Bears traded up and selected Trey Lance. They gave up their 20th, 2022 1st round, and 2022 2nd round pick. Only other offer received was by New England, offered their 15th, and 2022 1st round pick. Decided on taking the Bears offer since I believe they will end up with a worse record than New England next year, Chicago has a tough schedule. At the 20th pick, Jaylen Waddle was still available. Jets traded their 23rd and 2022 2nd round pick to move up and select Waddle to pair up with Zach Wilson, who they took with the 2nd overall pick. At the 23rd pick, got one offer to trade back, Steelers. No more trading back with this player still available... There's plenty of talk going around that Micah Parsons might drop, so it is very possible for him to still be available around this pick. Eventually he will be the starting MLB, but start him at OLB for now, along side Shaq Thompson. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 39th pick, received a couple of offers, but can't pass on this dude... Late 1st to early 2nd is the range for Liam. He would be the day 1 starter at left tackle, plug and play at the position. Was debating on trading up to get him when he was still available at the beginning of the second round. Dillon Radunz was also still available, so I decided to wait and trade up once one of them went off the board. They were both still there at the 39th pick. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the 63rd pick, we select this monster to pair up with Derrick Brown in the middle... Traded up with the Chiefs, right in front of the Bucs, knowing they might possibly be looking at that position. Terrific at stuffing the run, and able to push the pocket on passing downs. As for the trade, I traded the 73rd pick and 2022 3rd round pick. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the 113th pick... If the Panthers can't get their guy in the 1st round, I believe they will select a QB in these rounds (3rd to 5th), and whoever he is, he will see the field at some point in the upcoming season if the only other QB on the roster with starting potential is Teddy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the 152nd pick... Stephen Weatherly gone, Marquis Haynes becomes a free agent next off-season, the only EDGE players under contract past next off-season are Burns, YGM, Christian Miller. Toney is a pure pass-rush specialist, could develop more as an every down player if he added weight to help him on running downs. He easily can replace the role of Marquis Haynes once he's gone. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the 185th pick... Developmental player with starting potential, it's going to take him at least a couple years. He performed pretty well during the Senior Bowl. Panthers will still need to address both guard positions through free agency. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the 195th pick... Chris Evans is projected to go between late 6th round to possibly undrafted but I believe he will actually be selected much higher than that. I could go on and on about this kid, so just look up into him some more yourself if you haven't heard his name before. With Mike Davis hitting free agency and likely to not be back, competition is needed behind Christian McCaffrey, and I think Chris Evans can easily become the clear number 2. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- And with the Panthers' last pick... I know the Panthers just extended Slye, but it's only through the 2021 season. Competition is definitely needed though, doing so by bringing in the best kicker in CFB from last year. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lineup Outlook (FA/S) Justin Burris Micah Parsons - Shaq Thompson - Jeremy Chinn Donte Jackson Yetur Gross-Matos - Alim Mcneill - Derrick Brown - Brian Burns Troy Pride Jr DJ Moore Liam Eichenberg - (G/FA) - Matt Paradis - (G/FA) - Taylor Moton* (TE/FA) Robby Anderson Teddy Bridgewater/Jamie Newman Christian McCaffrey *I believe we at least franchise tag Taylor Moton ---------------------------------------------------- We come away with 3 instant starters, CHI 2022 1st round pick, CHI 2022 2nd round pick, NYJ 2022 2nd round pick.
