  1. Back up to a bloated 158 today. This is after being down below 153. Hopefully that addition is muscle and not fat from the booze this weekend. My weekends are getting better and better, and the few weekends I do splurge, it really isn't by very much. 4 more weeks and final results will be in . . . then I start all over again.
  2. Most will tell you that T25/P90X/Insanity is the way to go. I know you say weight loss and definition is your goal, but that might change. I am on the T25 program and got down below 153. I'm a fairly athletic 6' and that is way to small. Had to start eating more. If I kept going and stayed with the program, I would be toned and ripped, but also weight like 140lbs. So, the program might satisfy your expectations as they stand now, but they are general plans that you can tailor to fit your needs. But for now, if cutting weight is your goal, then any of those options will work. The key: control your diet.
  3. If your copay isn't that high, just go ahead and go to a specialist. One visit will probably give you a diagnosis, and then you can look up how to heal yourself instead of going to PT. That is unless it is something serious that needs surgery.
  4. As someone with knee problems, I know what you mean. I used to stretch for an hour a day (20x3). Did that for about 3 months. Now I'm stretched out to the point where I can move functionally with no pain. Running still aggravates my knees, so that's why I like the T25/Insanity stuff. My only piece of insight is to stretch, stretch, stretch, and then stretch some more. Leg presses to build muscle around the knees should help support and alleviate. Just my thoughts.
  5. Started Gamma T25 a week ahead of schedule. I have 5 more weeks and then I will be switching it up to Insanity or something. My diet has been a little out of bounds, but I'm trying to bulk up and I had hit a wall anyway. Hoping to see some good results over the next 5 weeks.
  6. Proud of myself tonight. Hit up the gym after I left the office. Had my post-lift protein. Met up with some co-workers for trivia--didn't eat or drink. Got home and did T25. Loaded up on a dense, rich smoothie. The mirror can be a powerful motivator. I feel so close to that coveted six pack that I can taste it. One more week of T25 Beta following this week, and then it's on to 4 weeks of T25 Gamma. If I'm not super ripped in a week and half, I will be in 5 and a half.
  7. I feel like I'm starting to plateau. Not seeing tremendous gains from week to week like I was before. Though, before, I was at an unhealthy weight. Might just be that these last few belly inches are going to be tough. Gonna start lifting heavier and see if that helps.
  8. Weighed in this morning and woah. I'm down way too much. Really need to alter my diet plan and start eating more. I've been so focused on losing my beer gut for about 4 months now that I've neglected muscle mass. Think I've finally reached the point where I'm not afraid to eat a little more since in also lifting more now.
  9. Speaking of curls, I've been hitint the preachers bench pretty hard recently. Feels great, but definitely affects my pull ups and rows. Gonna keep it going, but do them on a separate day. Also thinking about jumping on the bench press (something I haven't done in a while due to shoulder issues) for a week or two doing 8 second reps.
  10. How spent do you feel after Ript Circuit? Honestly, I didn't feel as whipped afterward as I do during the Alpha version. Guess I'll step it up next time around.
  11. Started Beta of T25 today. Core cardio was pretty tough, but then again I did chest on Sunday not knowing what was in store for today. Think I will limit my gym time this week until I figure out what this second dose of T25 is going to be like. I do need to gain more a ton more muscle mass right now, though. Just need to find that line between producing and burning out. I'm down to a size 32 for a 36 when I started. Cheers.
  12. 6? This MORNING? Maybe I'm not a morning person, but I just do not understand how people can wake up and work out. My muscles need almost half a day to warm up.
  13. Besides being all the way out in left field, who cares what other do? They want to look bigger? Let them. Their woman doesn't like hair, let her not like hair. Says more about the person judging than the guy for shaving/waxing etc. I'm an equal opportunity observer, though. So, my thinking is different. Are you doing something that makes you feel good, confident, and healthy while also affording those around you their own proclivities? If so, you're good in my book.
  14. Get married to begin with was the problem. Don't you know they slim down for the wedding, and once hitched, it's straight to Twinkie town?
  15. Panini? Wine? Too rich for my blood. I was going to work out before, but I didn't leave the office until 6. By that time everyone was making their way into town. But a commitment is a commitment, and I got it done afterwards. Ps It was a great game, too.
  16. Went to the Bobcats season finale tonight and had two beers, a grilled chicken sandwich, and a hotdog. The kicker, I got back home and did some T25 lower focus. I still have the post-exercise high right now. Not gonna make tremendous gains that way, but at least I'm not taking 5 steps backwards. I'm getting too complacent with my weight lifting routine. I'm not bored at all, but do need to mix it up a bit, whether it's just the order, or different lifts altogether. Keep up the good work, ladies and gents.
  17. Pastrami club w fries last night. And split a plate of nachos. Had 50oz of beer at the ball game along w a wrap from Just Fresh. Between those two meals, I also had 4 Sierra Nevadas. Other than the hangover, I feel like crap today. Definitely was not worth the carbs. I went to the gym that morning, but still. Can't gain lean muscle boozin' it up like that. Next weekend will be different. No. Drinking. At. All.
  18. Hiked 8+ miles at Grandfather Mountain yesterday. If you guys and gals haven't had a chance to do it, it's awesome! Some trails are rated "advanced," but if you're adventurous, you can do it no problem without any special knowledge needed. Had a blast with the 9 people in my group (organized by the Maxx Fit instructor at my gym). Popped a muscle relaxer after that long day before bed. Man, didn't think I would like that kind of thing. Went to the gym today after all that. Chest day. Definitely needed that extra shot of pre I took. Had to close my eyes and take deep breaths and listen to some music before each set because I was mentally and physical exhausted. I got through it, though, and actually got some good pump but just had to take my time. Did I mention I'm in the middle of a move to Uptown and hauled a library of books and an entire kitchen to my new place? Well, I did that, too. Nothing worth achieving comes easy.
  19. ^ had to be wearing a Gold's singlet, too. Haha, dude's that wear singlets 1980's Venice Beach wants its style back. Anyway, I take back what I said about T25 not being as ridiculous as Insanity. On whole, Insanity still takes the cake, but Ab Intervals in T25 will kick the poo out of you. That is a serious work out.
  20. Got 10 wide grip, full extension pullups yesterday at the gym on my firs two sets, then I got 8 on my last set. I usually rush through, and never quite get to a dead hang, but I really focused this time and made sure to lock my elbows before going back up. Got 10 of them suckers. Felt great. Tried to do close grips at the end of the workout, but my biceps were spent. Back is feeling it today.
  21. Had a splurge night last night. Rooster's: 2 scotches 1/2 Cheese plate 1/2 ham plate Aria's: 1 scotch 1/2 mussels w/ bread 1/2 pizza espresso port wine 1/2 tiramisu Cutter's: 1 scotch The Wine Cellar: 1 red wine Waffle House: Sausage & Egg Texas Melt w/ extra sausage and egg Few bites of hash browns Haven't done that in a while--like 4 or 5 months. I'm 26 and sat beside a drunk ass 21 y/o at WH last night. Man, did I feel old. Anyway, off to brunch and then doing some T25 Stretch and then headed to the gym.
  22. Alright, week 1 of T25 is in the books. I weighed in this morning at 155.8. Couldn't believe my eyes, so, I weighed myself again: 155.8. Again: 157. Again: 156. I just took the average of 156. Around the start of the week I was around 161. I find it hard to believe that I've lost that much weight so fast. Lesson: I need a new scale. I'm probably going to up my protein intake drastically. There is no way I can gain muscle mass on my current T25 diet of ~1600/day.
  23. Just completed my first week of T25. It's no Insanity, but if you're pressed for time or just don't like working out, it definitely is a must. Relative to other home-training programs, I would say, and this is pure conjecture, that the diet plan is significantly more critical to success when doing T25. There are more power moves, i.e., lower body, that gets you your cardio in lieu of a circuit or suicide runs, so you build muscle and get winded. It takes a second to adjust to the moves, but come the second week, I should be able to jump right into them without thinking or stopping to stare at the screen. Cheers
  24. I stretch my lower back out every day and deads still give me trouble. Do those reverse crunch things for your lower back, superman swims, etc . . . I'm thinking I just need to take deads slower and really really concentrate on my form. The thing is, if the weight is too light for me, I want to go faster in voluntarily, i.e., without thinking. E.g., initial sets of 135 I crank out in like 20 seconds it feels. Guess I need to concentrate more. Anyway, second T25 disc today--Speed 1.0--which was awkward. Not knowing the moves at first can be frustrating because there is no instruction [like Insanity]. Didn't kick my butt, but I assume it will get worse. I won't keep updating after each time I do this stuff; just giving my initial takeaway for those that care to read.
