So I have a question for you hockey experts that I've wanted to know for a little while. During the playoffs last year we talked a lot about being at home and having the first change advantage. What exactly is the advantage of first change? Is it simply home team line changes first, and how does being the home team give you this advantage? If it helps I do know what icing is, and sometime offsides, but from what I've seen the league still isn't overly sure what offsides is so....

For what it's worth, Freddie has made the trip to Columbus for tonight's game.

I will say I think our equipment staff needs to get our goalies some bigger cups. The 5 hole has been a liability for sure. Guys getting hurt, guys coming of the injured list, I suspected we'd see a dip, but lets get a win tonight and start moving the train in the right direction again.

I agree with this. What happens when everyone is healthy is the big question mark for me. I don’t see us filling a roster spot with a 3rd goalie, but the only other alternative I see is sending Koochie back to Chicago so he continues to get reps, but the way he’s playing I’d hate to see that happen too. I’m glad I’m not Don.

I don’t disagree, but last year’s team also peaked too early and didn’t show up for the playoffs. Not sure what team that was. My homerism is hoping this means we can get it together and look better in April than we do now. My eyes tell me if it wasn’t for the Staal line and Svech we’d have a losing record right now. #bipolarcanes

He shot 7th or 8th deep. Faked to the right so hard Vas committed and Aho brought the puck back to the left and shot it in. Thing a beauty.

I started the game late, but man what a game. It just seems sweeter when we beat Tampa with Vasilevskiy in the net. Dude is something else. Hats off to Freddie too. I really thought we were going to beat ourselves with the stupid penalties in the 2nd, but nice to see us overcome that and pull out a win. We got to fix these penalties though. Cardiac Canes is becoming real. Brady's shorthander to force overtime, and then all the stops in the shootout. That fake Aho put on Vas to seal it made my jaw drop. Things to improve as always, but good win on the road tonight Canes!

I checked the score at 2nd intermission and thought the Pens were going to put them to bed. Does suck that Boston is much better this year, but sounds like the end of the game would have been a good one to watch.

We got a lot of room for improvement, but dang what a win. Let’s Go Canes!
