You've got to be kidding me.

Deuce was a product of volume or carries as much as anything and flamed out quickly. Ricky was poo with New Orleans. Jamal had one good year, which was a product of getting 400+ carries. As a whole we've had better running backs than any other team in our division.
-
I'd say that's better than any of the other teams in our division.

100 yards for DeAngelo on 14 carries. That's an average of 7.1 yards per carry with the longest run being only 28 yards. At least for this game, it seems like splitting carries for his entire career was an asset. Has a lot more left than most 32-year olds.

Or the line sucked here and he couldn't do a whole lot. Maybe the system there fits him better.

Clearly, this is to appease the football gods. You do not choose your nickname, your nickname chooses you. Their wrath was demonstrated on the football field as a warning of things to come if he did not repent and accept his nickname. My only wish is that this did not come too late to help him...

That backired for the Dolphins.

No way Funchess is third-string behind Cotchery, Ginn, and Brown.

Looking great so far. No reason not to tune in if you can.

Worse than the Browns? Wat?

Too bad Greg Hardy won't be able to tell Matt Ryan to get the f*ck off our field when we beat them there. -
That's fair enough. I think Ryan definitely has a better line and receiving corp to fall back on. I'd say Ryan is really the third-best in the division. I don't think Drew Brees is as great as everyone says, but I'm not sure he's ever had a Pro Bowl receiver to fall back on. STRONGLY disagree. Remember 2013? The comeback victories against New England, San Francisco, Miami and New Orleans were as good as any we've ever had,. Cam has NO margin of error. We are 12-24-1 when he has an interception.
-
I don't think anyone was saying Cam was better in 2011 or 2012, and the Falcons were making the playoffs in fairly easy fashion. It's more like for the first two years, everyone was saying Cam had great stats but couldn't win. Now, they are saying he wins, but his stats suck. And keep in mind - both Cam and Matt Ryan have similar win percentage (Cam is 30-31-1, Ryan is 33-31) over the last four years. and they are both 4-4 head to head.

What exactly does Brockel do other than be a backup fullback? Unless he's a big special teams guy, I don't see an issue with swapping him for Ward.
-
As a Native American (at least as much so as Lizzy Warren) I oppose this.

1) Cam. No, this isn't homerism. Brees is declining and the Saints have recognized this by building up their run game. I think, all things considered, Cam will have a better season. 2) Brees. He's still a top-10 quarterback, but how long can he keep the pace up? Not much longer. His security blanket is gone, his receiving corps leaves much to be desired, and the team is pivoting to the run game. 3) Ryan - It's telling that 22 of Ryan's 44 losses have come in the last two seasons. He's far from a bad quarterback, but without a running game and a strong defense, he's come up short. 4 Winston - TBD.

You don't need a blocking fullback to pull a play fake.

But you would rather have three wide receivers, Olsen, and your running back on the field. Five viable receiving options is much, much better than four. The benefit the blocking fullback gives is completely wasted because he has to be there every play except the most obvious passing situations. I'm not saying I don't like blocking fullbacks; I grew up with a Panthers team that used them and that played in a system that needed them. In systems that are run-heavy, they are very, very good. Adrian Peterson wouldn't have had 2,000 yards and a 6.0 YPC average without Jerome Felton blocking for him. But that offense was designed entirely around Adrian Peterson. Felton is useless if Peterson isn't on the field.

The big problem with blocking fullbacks is the same as the problem with blocking tight ends: they can't catch worth crap. Having a blocking fullback or tight end on field is a dead giveaway you are going to run the ball, unless you keep him on the field the whole game, which necessarily limits your quarterback's ability to throw.

We finish 13-3 and are the only team in the division with a winning record.
