  1. Too bad Greg Hardy won't be able to tell Matt Ryan to get the f*ck off our field when we beat them there.
  2. That's fair enough. I think Ryan definitely has a better line and receiving corp to fall back on. I'd say Ryan is really the third-best in the division. I don't think Drew Brees is as great as everyone says, but I'm not sure he's ever had a Pro Bowl receiver to fall back on. STRONGLY disagree. Remember 2013? The comeback victories against New England, San Francisco, Miami and New Orleans were as good as any we've ever had,. Cam has NO margin of error. We are 12-24-1 when he has an interception.
  3. I don't think anyone was saying Cam was better in 2011 or 2012, and the Falcons were making the playoffs in fairly easy fashion. It's more like for the first two years, everyone was saying Cam had great stats but couldn't win. Now, they are saying he wins, but his stats suck. And keep in mind - both Cam and Matt Ryan have similar win percentage (Cam is 30-31-1, Ryan is 33-31) over the last four years. and they are both 4-4 head to head.
  4. That sterling 10-22 record over the last few seasons speaks for itself.
  5. What exactly does Brockel do other than be a backup fullback? Unless he's a big special teams guy, I don't see an issue with swapping him for Ward.
  6. As a Native American (at least as much so as Lizzy Warren) I oppose this.
  7. 1) Cam. No, this isn't homerism. Brees is declining and the Saints have recognized this by building up their run game. I think, all things considered, Cam will have a better season. 2) Brees. He's still a top-10 quarterback, but how long can he keep the pace up? Not much longer. His security blanket is gone, his receiving corps leaves much to be desired, and the team is pivoting to the run game. 3) Ryan - It's telling that 22 of Ryan's 44 losses have come in the last two seasons. He's far from a bad quarterback, but without a running game and a strong defense, he's come up short. 4 Winston - TBD.
  8. Kelly O'Hara and Christen Press fall into that group as well IMO>
  9. You don't need a blocking fullback to pull a play fake.
  10. But you would rather have three wide receivers, Olsen, and your running back on the field. Five viable receiving options is much, much better than four. The benefit the blocking fullback gives is completely wasted because he has to be there every play except the most obvious passing situations. I'm not saying I don't like blocking fullbacks; I grew up with a Panthers team that used them and that played in a system that needed them. In systems that are run-heavy, they are very, very good. Adrian Peterson wouldn't have had 2,000 yards and a 6.0 YPC average without Jerome Felton blocking for him. But that offense was designed entirely around Adrian Peterson. Felton is useless if Peterson isn't on the field.
  11. The big problem with blocking fullbacks is the same as the problem with blocking tight ends: they can't catch worth crap. Having a blocking fullback or tight end on field is a dead giveaway you are going to run the ball, unless you keep him on the field the whole game, which necessarily limits your quarterback's ability to throw.
  12. We finish 13-3 and are the only team in the division with a winning record.
  13. If the NFL wants to be serious about violence, suspend anyone found guilty OR otherwise proven of assault (via video) for one year. No exceptions.
  14. What percent of designed run plays do you think the backs will get?
  15. Sherrod Martin wasn't bad in secondary, really. The problem was he couldn't tackle. He would have been a lot better as a corner.
  16. In 2013, yes. We allowed the 2nd fewest points and yard. Last year, though, we allowed the 10th fewest yards and only the 21st fewest points.
  17. Palmer had it coming. It is incredibly dumb to scramble way out of the pocket and then set your feet for a throw.
  18. Favors was the guy that injured McNabb in the 2003 championship game. Nobody is really sure who caused the Simms injury... he had a big hit from Al Wallace, but it might well have happened before that. Was still a nasty hit though. Al Wallace was probably the best reserve end we've had. Good twitter follow, too.
  19. Yeah, just because we never went to the playoffs with him as the full-time starter doesn't meant he wasn't very, very good. 1999 was our best offensive year ever, that doesn't happen by accident.
  20. Maybe Cam just wants to get this out on the way so he can focus on football?
