  1. Nah you need a pic of a digital face saying " :/ awe, some thing went wrong"
  2. Thanks for not being snarky. Haha. no sir. I genuinely thought this was the rule, that if a player has the ball and they cease forward progress to take a few steps back and throw the ball, it was perfectly legal to throw a forward pass. The key being that they took the ball backward from its furthest extent of forward progress. I thought as a play advances down the field, barring penalty, the line of scrimmage theoretically follows the ball. Thus, if someone stops advancing the ball and takes a step back, they are technically still behind the line of scrimmage can legally throw a forward pass. I'm not afraid to admit that I'm wrong y'all. I guess I was just confused about the rule. Your tomato-chucking can stop now...
  3. Even if the player ran backward from the point of the catch?
  4. You got me thinking, if the defense gets an interception and the player runs backward from the point they caught the ball, could they then throw a forward pass down field to a DB that is running toward the endzone for a touchdown? That would take a perfect storm of event to even have a chance at succeeding, but I'm just curious if the rules allow it.
  5. I'm cheering for Byrd. Jeremy is high on him, and I see why. His elite speed is tantalizing and if he can catch the football in stride, it'll be damn hard to catch him. As a gamecock fan, ive seen Byrd in action alot. He can be an electric player. I don't ever remember saying, "Damn he shoulda caught that." Instead I found myself saying, "damn, if that ball had been put in the right place..." I really hope he beats out enough people to make the top six. He would complete our receiving corps. Benji the redzone threat, Funch the Swiss army knife, Brown and Byrd the burners/screeners, Bersin/Cotchery the slot/3rd down possession receiver, Ted Finn the specialist, and Olsen+Dickson the intermediate threats. Not to mention our mutli-faceted running game. OMG I'm hyping myself up... the league should prepare its anus. Its gonna be an exciting year of Panther football.
  6. The Huddle would celebrate. Cotch and Bersin are pretty equally dissed around here. I think both are good in their own way, but Bersin has youth on his side, and the Panthers are obviously in the midst of a youth movement.
  7. Good to know Cam is consistently throwing with precision and hitting targets. Still waiting for pads to see if it translates to game situations, but this is encouraging
  8. Jeremy, how are the receivers doing getting separation? is this due to their own skill or lack thereof in the secondary?
  9. yeah im a millenial and nothing makes a better game for me than a defensive struggle. i would much rather see more 7-0 shutouts like the old days than the 51-50 arena football scores... :/
  10. while I realize that people like PU would be making blogs, I still think this would be a good idea. I like to post original game previews and it takes up more space than some huddlers want to read in a forum thread. a blog would give me the opportunity to post my write ups with the condition pre-set that it would be a long post. I hope we do this Jeremy
  11. I think the results would have been the same to this point. Luck would have had as much success as Cam. however, Cam has the higher ceiling if he can solve his accuracy issues.
  12. just wondering... im watching more of the game now, and i just saw Hoover score the TD to make it 23-12. am i mistaken or do i keep hearing HOOOOOOOVE when he makes a play?! haha in the Rams' house?! did we really have that much of a presence in the Edward Jones Dome for that game, or was it just Rams fans booing?
  13. in Byrd's defense... Jeremy and David Newton both said he was catching everything in sight at rookie camp, with no-name QBs throwing him and forcing him to adjust to badly thrown footballs. Newton even said that Byrd caught more than Funchess did... we need to wait to criticize Byrd until the pads go on because as of right now, he's showing some promise
  14. haha yea I made it to.the 3rd quarter before my library closed and I had to stop. I certainly did want to throw my laptop a few times watching Fox and Henning play classic Panther football... 2nd and 22? hey I know... let's run the ball UP THE GUT *rolls eyes* oh and all the holding calls that negated long runs and false starts.... I will say one thing though, Rivera has drilled discipline into his teams. after being reminded of how undisciplined Fox's teams were, it's refreshing to reflect on how few holding calls and false starts Rivera's teams commit.
  15. i agree. i was born in late 1991 so that makes me 23. but i didnt follow sports in the slightest until 2003. and even then, i didnt really understand the game until 2008. but i can honestly say that ever since ive followed football, i have been a Carolina Panther fan. and i would never dare look back. i do cheer for secondary teams once in a while, but those are fads that pass season to season. i used to like the Seahawks as a secondary team. now im indifferent. ive always thought to myself that when Belichek and Brady retire, i might consider following the Patriots alittle. every year i pretty much pick a team from every division to root for. but none ever match the passion i feel for Carolina. i come from a very mixed family though. my dad's father is a Colts fan, step mom is a dolphins fan, step mom's mother is a cowboys fan, there are Falcons fans and Redskins fans in my dad's side of the family, and steelers and eagles fans in my step-mom's side of the family. my mentor at church is a Broncos fan and im sure my biological mother's family are all Arizona Cardinals fans...
  16. the whole of 2013 will be memorable for me for a long time. i didnt start following the Panthers until literally Super Bowl weekend of 2003, so unfortunately i missed out on the drama of 2003. i still didnt know enough to really appreciate 2005 very much, so 2008 was my only other season to compare 2013 to. and frankly, aside from the MNF win in 08 where i watched it with my best friend at the time (who is a Bucs fan), 2013 was the most exciting season for me. though... its hard to beat an 8-game winning streak, beating the Patriots on national tv, beating the Saints in a torrent, and many other close games that season. is there somewhere i can watch the whole game? i really want to experience this... haha
  17. this kinda makes me wonder if we arent on the verge of a top-10 offense. healthy Cam with weapons and a strong running game behind an improved offensive line? that could be scary if its used right. i hope that it will be. but... you know... Shula...
  18. youre still missing my point, despite your backhanded insult. what i am asking is whether we should condone unacceptable/immoral behavior just because everyone does it? if im being honest, yes i have done things in college that i shouldnt have been doing. and pretty much everyone around me did to, often to greater extents than i did. does that make those things any less wrong to do? no. its still wrong. if had been caught, should i have been punished? yep. you act like we should just excuse what Jameis Winston did simply because he was acting like what you define as a normal college student. thats what i take issue with. if Jameis proves that he is beyond his past and has stopped abusing women and acting like an entitled prick, then by all means i wish him success in the league, team allegiances aside. but so long as he treats women like objects to collect and play with, and acts like everyone owes him something, i literally hope he fails and washes out of the league.
  19. millenials with vocabulary... who'da thunk it?!
  20. that doesnt matter. i am asking if you are saying that now its acceptable for college students to be thieves and womanizers. just to answer your question though, i went to a junior college in Rutherford County, NC... and coming from a different county, i had already been told that people in Rutherford were more licentious than most other places. they were right, but there were still enough kids with their heads on straight going to my college that it wasnt the norm for them to be dark-hearted individuals.
  21. so now it's normal for college students to be thieves and womanizers? I didn't get that memo...
  22. a cold cadaver would have blocked better than what we had last year...
