  1. I'm trying to remember a worse evaluator and developer of talent and I'm struggling. If he's not bottom 3, he's definitely bottom 10. I can't recall 1 player that I can say really improved under Rhule's tutelage and that's saying something given some of the players we have.
  2. The NFL told the league years ago when they changed the rules for WRs to make it much harder on DBs this league was moving towards an offense oriented league. We need someone who's rolling with the league instead of trying to stop it. They're not making playing defense any easier. Just embrace it already.
  3. After watching the end of season press conference last year, I seriously believe he thought Rhule would be fired. You could see it in his body language and hear it in his voice he had no confidence in Rhule at all. He may have very well thought Rhule would be gone at the end of the year, he would have the offseason to find a new HC, and start putting his fingerprints on this organization. There's only 32 of these jobs available and whether or not you think it's a good situation, you never know when or if you will ever get another shot to run an NFL franchise. If he succeeds, he's going to have a job for decades. If not, well, it's back to obscurity in an NFL FO somewhere. One thing to remember is Tepper is heavily involved in what's happening, so much so that we restructured multiple contracts to make room for a player that didn't want to be here. How much Tepper was involved in the Burns no trade, we don't know either. The one thing I can say for certain is Tepper needs to let the NFL people do their job and stay out of it.
  4. Also, the Saints are wanting a 1st, probably more seeing as he has a ring, for the rights to Payton so that would need to be factored in as well if we were on his list, which we apparently aren't.
  5. Rhule was given roster control and was making decisions that no head coach should be making. Henderson trade was a miss, but it made sense given he was on the outs with the only coach in the NFL worse than Rhule. Risk vs reward. The Darnold trade was a response to getting rid of T2G publicly and having no other option. You can't negotiate a trade well when you have no leverage. We didn't really have a choice to pay what the Jets wanted because they could simply tell us to F off and we were screwed. It was handled terribly by Rhule and the FO. Mayfield for a 5th. Meh. Most 5ths don't contribute anyway so it wasn't much of a gamble at all even though it didn't work. Why anyone thought Baker/McAdoo would be a good pairing is the bigger question regarding that trade. Perryman was hurt in preseason and didn't want to be here, not shocking with Ray-Z at the helm. The others have Rhule's inability to evaluate or grade talent all over them. Typically a GM assembles a team for a coach and tries to find players to fit the coach's philosophy. That's doesn't appear to be the case, especially considering Tepper's willingness to get over evaluate situations, ie Watson. Seeing Fitts perfrom this offseason will be a much more accurate evaluation of his abilities. If he has that opportunity, fine. If not, that's ok too. It just wouldn't surprise me to see Tepper and Rhule's fingerprints all over the GM job the past 3 years.
  6. Mine has never changed. I want an offensive minded head coach that is in tune with the way the NFL is headed. Nothing Wilks has done has changed that.
  7. I don't think he showed much flexibility early on. He kept beating the RPO drum with Baker when Baker was never a run threat. Thats a huge part of why the offense looked so terrible under Baker. Baker/McAdoo combo never made much sense from the beginning. Sam always fit his playbook more than Baker did. His offense has been very basic much of the time, and he doesn't scheme receivers open very well. Our offense has been less than impressive all year.
  8. We've had defensive coaches and one extreme bullshitter for the entire existence of the franchise and have yet to put together back to back winning seasons. He's done well as interim, but I think it's time to look at an offensive minded HC. We need someone who's career is embracing the way the NFL is trending, vs someone who's spent their career trying to stop it.
  9. Right where I'm at. Can't say I'm optimistic then we hire Adam Gase.
  10. Did you ever think you would say Sam would be the best QB for DJ of all our options this year?
  11. I think it really depends on the team on whether you cut the value or not. The Rams aren't looking good. Stafford's elbow looks done. They've already given up this year's first. The question is do you believe the Rams are headed to the playoffs the next 2 years. I'm skeptical based simply on the rumors of Donald possibly retiring, McVay being up in the air, QB questions, and so on. Even if you think the 24 and 25 picks are in the teens, added to 35-37 this year, is a good haul. Even if they make the playoffs, late 1st picks could be very useful for a team in a rebuild, plus as trade capitol. I doubt we ever know either. I genuinely think the Rams were trying to win it all this year because the wheels are coming off next year and they knew it. After watching what Reddick did this year for about 60% of what we're going to pay Burns, It makes it even harder to think we turned it down. Of course NFL execs have their own way of thinking, but it doesn't mean my Monday morning GM skills don't think Fitts was wrong to turn it down.
  12. So what if I'm getting alimony from Giselle? Giselle's new boyfriend is THIS big!
  13. It really depends on who we get for our next HC. If we get an offensive guy, I'm less worried about giving picks. If we get a defensive HC, then absolutely not.
  14. I'd be happy to start with a FO that realizes that the NFL is trending to more and more offensively high scoring games. They're more exciting, it fuels fantasy football, and in general, it makes for a better product on the field. Once we finally acknowledge that's how it's going to go, then we can look to find the people who fit that style of play.
  15. Actually, having a good drainage system and warming system isn't a bad thing when you're talking about base maintenance. Even if you only have these freezes every so often, being able to keep your base dry and thawed helps prevent frost heaving. I live in an area that experiences a lot of this and while it's more expensive, going the extra mile can cost you less in the long run. I always try and recommend this to my customers, especially if they're doing concrete or paver driveways. It doesn't take more than a few years to see the ripples and cracks form.
  16. All of high school with college options before my knee folded the wrong direction next to last game of my senior year. Never healed right and that was the end of that.
  17. 5th year player in the league is not what I would consider a young guy by NFL standards. I'm not for purposefully losing but I am for playing guys who can get some evaluation in real game scenarios. Just disappointed for another losing season.
  18. I think either one would be a good choice. Johnson looks more creative to me, but Steichen is better at picking a defense apart and exploiting weaknesses. With the players we currently have on offense, I lean to Steichen to create an offense built around player strengths instead of relying on needing to be creative constantly.
  19. Getting it right at QB is the hardest thing to get right for any team. Most nfl teams get the QB position wrong. Things the huddle got right from the get go that were basic and all visible in under a year. Keeping Ron 1 year too long. Keeping Hurney 2.0. Rhule being under qualified from college His entire staff being from college was a bad idea and not NFL capable Cam debacle then Signing T2G to a ridiculous contract only to cut bait after a year Overpay for Darnold and the 5th year. Elflein and Irving in FA day 1. BC all over the line instead of starting at LT when he was playing better than Irving from the start. Chinn to FS after an almost DROY Camp QB competition this year Elflein over Bozeman Our "Rockstar" OC Not firing Rhule after season 2 Baker PJ Ian Thomas extension Any number of team members associated with Temple/Baylor. That's not firing a shotgun and getting lucky. The huddle was correct regarding all of this before it played out.
  20. Because LA was trying to win it all again before the door slams shut. It was a gamble to pair Donald and Burns with Stafford hurt. Teams trying to win Super Bowls make deals like this. That's not us. We can keep Burns and pay 25-30m per for 5 years or Trade him for a high 2nd, and looking like 2 high future firsts, plus use that 30m in cap space to bring in an edge rusher, LB and whatever else.
  21. Sam is on year 5. I don't consider him a young guy. We don't have anyone else other than PJ so that's pretty much irrelevant at the QB position. I'm just saying I don't care. Winning over NO doesn't change anything with regard to this franchise needing a massive overhaul. Putting yourself in a worse position in the draft just makes it a little harder.
  22. You want to know why fans are bitching so much? For the last 3 years under Rhule and going back to the last under Ron, this fan base has been right more often than our FO and coaching staff. 4 years of bumbling mindless baffoonary and somehow the fan base is bad for being pissed off at 6 wins. We weren't in contention because we were good. We had a shot because this division was absolute ass and if one team had been even marginally decent, we would have been out of it before Thanksgiving.
  23. At this point I don't care if NO goes or not. I want this team to have some measure of sustained success and if that means eating a shitburger served up by NO, fine. Meaningless wins are pointless. We're looking at a new HC, OC, DC, possibly GM, QB, and any number of players coming in and out. Play the young guys, and get prepared to get poo right for once.
  24. If it hadn't been for Urban Meyer I'd completely agree. He's the only coach worse than Rhule when that trade was made. Could have been an Elflein and Bozeman situation in Jax or he just sucked. Hard to know which when your coach is too busy being an asshole to coach football.
