  1. As a general rule, that's true EXCEPT for last year. The only reason there's really concern at this point is the injuries to Corbett and BC.
  2. It would also depend on if we plan on keeping Erving or not as a backup tackle. As we've seen across the league though, having a tackle that can step in and play at a high level is a bit of a luxury but a necessity to an extent. I'm sure the Chiefs would have loved to have someone else, anyone else, playing against Tampa in the SB. Dallas plugged in Tyler Smith. I would prefer to address our QB situation if possible, or get QJ, or even trade down a few spots if we can add a 2nd and 3rd and still get the best fit for what we need.
  3. Agreed. It's all about how much do you trust the guys doing the evaluations. If you don't trust them and their abilities, why are they even in the building? As far as deals go, Fitts has made some good, some not so good. What part his and Morgan's evaluations played in player acquisition vs Rhule is unknown. I don't have an issue sending 3 1sts and a 2nd in return for the number 1, but to do so would mean that player is a 100% fit into what the team is trying to do and we're not trying to mold him into something else.
  4. It all depends on how sure you are after all evaluations are complete. 100% sure this is a can't miss opportunity. Make the trade but be ready to stand behind it, good or bad. 60-70% sure. Pretty steep for that level of confidence. 50% - Hold onto 9 and take BPA or the positions we need to fill.
  5. Unfortunately, too many RBs are producing from late rounds to pay $16m per year.
  6. He could very well have thought that Rhule would have been fired at the end of his first season as GM. There's only so many of these jobs available, and while I'm not positive, Fitt strikes me as the type of guy that can sniff out a bullshit artist. Get in the door, wait for the idiot to get fired after the season (it ended up being a 1.25), then move on to a real coach. I don't love mediocrity but I'm willing to let him at least have a shot without Rhule. Sometimes you take a bad job just so you can end up in a good one.
  7. With Denver's 1st rounder that would also give GB the ability to get one of the top QBs if they want or add to their defense. Probably too high for then to add QJ to go with Watson, but it would offer some flexibility. And Seattle is full of self righteous assholes so Rodgers would fit right in.
  8. Because for too long some of the brightest minds in football have likely been passed over or never given an opportunity because of the color of their skin. I love to see it because it shows we're willing to hire whoever is best for the job. Plus I hope it will help us get future hot coaches and coordinators that want to come here because we're breaking down barriers.
  9. While I don't think he is as bad as he was under Rhule, I can't see Dennis Allen being a huge step forward in his development.
  10. I can't even fathom turning down that amount of money. I could travel the world the rest of my life, my kids and grandkids would have enough to be taken care of, and I could still do a hell of a lot of good with the rest.
  11. Letting a franchise QB like Lamar walk has the weird feeling of Matt Paradis to me. Obviously not same position, but following an injury, a player considered top tier at his position is being allowed to look elsewhere. That just seems... odd.
  12. The offer I saw was 250M over 5 years with 133m guaranteed that would have extended him through 2027. So the offer was 50m per year with 26.5m per year guaranteed. edit: also no agent fee so it would be more like 55.5m per season
  13. They had to make a choice between McDaniels or Carr and couldn't afford to fire McDaniels. I'm not vouching for Carr, but talk of firing a coach year 1 is never a good sign that things are going well.
  14. He turned down $250 with $133M guaranteed. He wants fully guaranteed money which we all know. If it turns into a bidding war he could see more, I just don't want to see us be a part of it.
  15. Getting away from Reid is really the only way he's going to get a fair evaluation as an OC. If he succeeds in DC, I could see him getting more HC interviews and possibly a job.
  16. Somewhere Alejandro Lustra is popping Viagra like they're a family sized bag of M&M's
  17. Every team in front of us has a reason to draft a QB. Some are more likely than others, some less. The least likely are Chicago, Seattle, Detroit and Arizona. Houston, Indy, Atlanta, and Vegas are more likely, baring FA acquisitions. IF we decide to move to 1, we're selling the farm no matter what.
  18. My ideal draft scenario involves Chicago trading for 9th selection by offering us their next 3 1sts, but I don't really see that happening.
  19. I'm not gonna lie, 50-60m per year guaranteed for 5-6 years scares the poo out of me for a QB that has missed 25% of the season the past 2 years.
  20. But neither KC, Cinci, or LA will have to give up 2-3 1sts plus as many 2nds in addition to that contract. This isn't about just getting a franchise QB. It's about having the ability to build around him. If Carr wants 40m plus per season, he can walk on by too. If I had to choose if I would rather have LJ, DJ, TMJ, Tremble, Thomas and Chubba OR I could have Carr, DJ, QJ, TMJ, 2 of Mayer/Musgrave/Kincaid, Freeman for an offense, the 2nd option looks much more appealing to me from a talent perspective.
  21. That was brutal to watch. I didn't think he'd even walk right again after that much less play football.
