Pro Bowl Monteaz Sweat just signed a deal for less than what Burns is asking. Sweat is a more complete edge rusher than Burns. It's not hate to point out that Burns is not worth the money he's asking. Other players have signed lesser contracts and are out playing him. People want to build a winner and giving a Bosa level contract to a guy that hasn't had Reddick level production is an issue. Despite what New Orleans leads people to believe, there is a finite level of cap space to work with every year. We need to spend our resources wisely across the board. If Burns is willing to sign a team friendly contract in the same neighborhood as Sweat, it's still a slight overpay, but whatever. If he wants a Bosa level contract, let someone else pay it. His production hasn't warranted that level of pay increase. Overpay and hope it works out is the Hurney way and we all saw how that worked out for us with several different players.

We turned down 2 1sts and a 2nd to build our defense around a pro bowl alternate in a contract year. Panthers gonna Panther.

I'm sure Dave would be more than happy to make all his hedge fund business decisions based on your opinion when you call because it is afterall, your money. When you don't know what the hell you're doing, keep your nose out of it.

The problem with all of this from Cam to T2G, Baker, Darnold, CMC, Moore, BY and so on is the wrong people in charge. This team could have TB12, Prime Moss, Irvin and Megatron, Barry Sanders and Gronk and still turn out a horrendous offense under Ron, Rhule and Frank.

If it was a single 1st it'd be OK. But it was all that and Moore.

They forced him on Carolina anyway after Cam wasn't a good face of the NFL as punishment. Why would they want him to leave? Never have to worry about the Panthers ever contending for a playoff spot ever again.

Biggest concern with AR for me was always his playing like Cam shortening his career. He's raw, no doubt and that's why I would have been fine at 9, but not at 1.

Just tell them you paid for PSLs to watch a professional football team. The Tepper led Panthers don't qualify.

AR was always my preference but at 9 and only with the right HC, mainly because we were never just a QB away from being a legit contender. AR wouldn't have fit with FR and definitely not with Brown as OC.

Someone carried 4 QBs just to help those that suffered QB injuries at the playoffs. Can't imagine who would do something like that.

Because all 1st round picks are not equal. While we could say the 1st and 32nd pick are both 1st round picks and should be considered equal in value, we all know that they aren't. A more accurate description is we traded the 9th, 24' 1st overall and DJ Moore (who we'd been offered a 1st for) for the number 1 pick in 23'.

It was another 1st and 2nd plus a possible 2nd player and 40m more per year. Thats a lot more than what we gave up for Bryce. Id rather have Lamar if we gave up what we did for Bryce. My biggest concern was always how do you make that trade before the tag was applied without creating the same situation he wanted out of in Baltimore. Happy New Year to you too.

After Baltimore applied the tag he was never leaving Baltimore. Before the tag, the talked about price by the talking heads was 3 1sts, 3 2nds plus players along the line of DJ, Burns or Chinn. What’s your offer to get Lamar and plan to build around him after giving up all that plus a fully guaranteed contract?

I still feel like Tepper was forced on us as revenge for Cam being so damn charismatic and dabbing all over Roger Goodell's brand.

He's not being talked about for the same reason Cam wasn't. Too much attitude for the owners. Scot and myself were 2 of the biggest opponents to getting LJ for pretty much the same reasons. With all he was going to cost, how do you build around him? Once the tag was applied, he wasn't leaving the Ravens. It was just a matter of the guarantee on the contract. If someone had offered full guarantee, the Ravens would have matched it. It wouldn't have been worth it not to. Prior to that, it would have been extremely difficult to do missing 1sts and 2nds for 3 years and some players, whoever that might have been, plus a hugely guaranteed contract that would have limited the ability to bring in talent. Add into that Scott Fitterer as GM and you have a dumpster fire that makes this one look like a smoke bomb.
