There's only so many of these jobs available, and while I'm not positive, Fitt strikes me as the type of guy that can sniff out a bullshit artist. With Denver's 1st rounder that would also give GB the ability to get one of the top QBs if they want or add to their defense. Probably too high for then to add QJ to go with Watson, but it would offer some flexibility. And Seattle is full of self righteous assholes so Rodgers would fit right in.

Because for too long some of the brightest minds in football have likely been passed over or never given an opportunity because of the color of their skin. I love to see it because it shows we're willing to hire whoever is best for the job. Letting a franchise QB like Lamar walk has the weird feeling of Matt Paradis to me. Obviously not same position, but following an injury, a player considered top tier at his position is being allowed to look elsewhere. That just seems... odd.

The offer I saw was 250M over 5 years with 133m guaranteed that would have extended him through 2027. So the offer was 50m per year with 26.5m per year guaranteed. edit: also no agent fee so it would be more like 55.5m per season

They had to make a choice between McDaniels or Carr and couldn't afford to fire McDaniels. I'm not vouching for Carr, but talk of firing a coach year 1 is never a good sign that things are going well.

Every team in front of us has a reason to draft a QB. Some are more likely than others, some less. The least likely are Chicago, Seattle, Detroit and Arizona. Houston, Indy, Atlanta, and Vegas are more likely, baring FA acquisitions. IF we decide to move to 1, we're selling the farm no matter what.

My ideal draft scenario involves Chicago trading for 9th selection by offering us their next 3 1sts, but I don't really see that happening.

I'm not gonna lie, 50-60m per year guaranteed for 5-6 years scares the poo out of me for a QB that has missed 25% of the season the past 2 years.

But neither KC, Cinci, or LA will have to give up 2-3 1sts plus as many 2nds in addition to that contract. This isn't about just getting a franchise QB. It's about having the ability to build around him. If Carr wants 40m plus per season, he can walk on by too. If I had to choose if I would rather have LJ, DJ, TMJ, Tremble, Thomas and Chubba OR I could have Carr, DJ, QJ, TMJ, 2 of Mayer/Musgrave/Kincaid, Freeman for an offense, the 2nd option looks much more appealing to me from a talent perspective.

That trade was also for the 3rd ranked QB in that draft. It's everyone's guess really what it's going to cost, but with so many QB needy teams, I could easily see Indy matching that identical offer and Chicago would take it because it it would only drop them 3 positions. The reason the Jets got what they did for Darnold is Rhule played his cards with T2G way too early. He tried to play poker with his cards face up and we got taken to the cleaners. Going into a trade negotiation desperate is never going to work out for you.

Player vs player I have no issue with it. A QB pushing over the top isn't going to affect the way that pile moves too much horizontally. Make that a QB pushed by 2 RBs and that can change dramatically depending on which way they decide to push. When all your muscles are tensed and you're body is positioned and driving forward, it's very difficult to react to a lateral move also. Also, extra falling bodies from behind can knock feet out when traction is already a serious issue. I would liken it to trying to drive a truck with a loaded trailer and you have no idea if or which way it's going to fishtail. You may be able to control it, you may not. If you lose control though, the results aren't going to be pretty.

From 12 to 3 cost 3 1sts. No way 9 to 1 goes for less than that.
