  1. Brady's biggest goal was being the GOAT. Winning rings was more important than his NFL salary. Add in his TB12 marketing line and all the other money he made from endorsements more than made up for the 20 million he was "underpaid." Hell, the Patriots were buying half his TB12 crap to supplement the salary they weren't paying him.
  2. I would have as well. It's all a matter of what you know when. At the time of the offer, we didn't know... Who would be the new HC? Who would be the new DC? What defensive scheme would we be running? Would McVay have stayed with no 1sts in 23, 24 and 25 and no 2nd rounder this year? Would Aaron Donald have retired if McVay had? Would it be reasonable to expect that a player of Reddick's caliber could be had at the contract value he got from Philly? Would it be possible to trade up to 1 and acquire a franchise QB? Would a franchise QB be available in this year's draft? Last year we didn't see any QB worthy of a top 10 pick or even close. So many questions that we just didn't have answers to at the time. I think Burns is a very good edge rusher but his game is not complete. He isn't a Bosa(s), Watts, or Garrett. Paying him a huge salary if he doesn't improve that area could result in paying Bosa money for Reddick production. It's always going to be an interesting debate on whether or not we should have done it. 6 Edge rushers went off the board this year between the Rams 2nd this year and our selection of DJ Johnson. Who knows how any of them will turn out. There's no need for anyone to get worked up over coulda, shoulda, woulda. Burns could get injured tomorrow and his career be over. It's Not For Long for a reason. It's all opinion on how would have been best to build the future. We should know in about 3-4 years if making the trade (or not) was the right decision. Personally, I always enjoy a little Sunday sofa GM'ing. It makes these boring weeks of the offseason a little more entertaining. There's only so many fantasy football mock drafts one can do.
  3. I promise to stop cropdusting people who are trying to use their asthma inhalers.
  4. AR keeps getting heralded as the Jets savior, but I don't see it. He's almost 40, hasn't thrown for over 300 yards in a game since '21 week 14, and is a temper tantrum away from wrecking the locker room. They better hope he can win the division, because as good as the AFC is, they could miss out on a wildcard if he's JAG.
  5. At the time, we were a team with an interim coach, no QB, no real pass rush other than Burns, no OC worth a damn, and a lot of holes. It came down to is it better to keep Burns and pay his new contract at 25mpy likely, or get a couple 1sts and a 2nd this year, and get a QB and use that cap space for other things. No one knew who the new HC was going to be. No one knew if we were going to be able to trade up for BY or whoever else was ranked 1. There were a lot of unknowns. I'm glad things worked out the way they did. I have concerns about Burns ability as an edge setter against the run. That's the biggest weakness in his game. I don't want the team to pay a top tier contract if he can't improve that, which obviously will be a hindsights 20-20 thing. Will be an interesting discussion until we see where the picks end up being and what players were available.
  6. I'm in the 5% Richardson. I still think he's going to be a very special QB and Carolina would have been a very good landing spot from him. If BY had a bigger frame and the size to absorb the punishment of the NFL for a long time, I think he would have been the 99% favorite. I hope they both succeed, except when AR plays us. Then he can Baker Mayfield it all day long.
  7. Don't care. Chiefs just won a SB without a true WR1 and just a collection of guys.
  8. It's getting easier to find starts on day 3. The more pass friendly the game gets, the less valuable RBs will become.
  9. Hard to be a loyal die hard fan when the team gets moved to NO after a big FU to the fans from George Shinn. Never really recovered from that personally. The team hasn't really done much to spark an interest since their return to Charlotte.
  10. There's been no thick with the Hornets. It's been horrible for decades. The most excitement we ever had was with LJ, Muggsy, Zo and Dell.
  11. Hornets have been so bad for so long I have a hard time getting excited about much. The last time I enjoyed a Hornets game in person, Glen Rice hoisted his all star game MVP trophy.
  12. Those were some Michelin Star Meatballs.
  13. If Hopkins had been cut before we signed Theilen it would have been a very interesting conversation to be had.
  14. Chances are very high BY doesnt have us as a SB contender year 1. Winning the NFCS and getting some distance in the playoffs is great but we arent better than SF or Philly and definitely dont measure up to the AFC. That taken into consideration, DHop and Diggs are different situations. DHop will likely be a 1 year rental and his presence would hurt the development of TMJ and Mingo only if he's here a year and gone. That doesn't help the team long term. Diggs is under contract and we have to trade assets for him, and that price won't be cheap in assets and salary cap. We still need to sign Burns, Chinn, Brown. He also wants more input in the offense. Rookie QB doesn't need that. It's part of the issue we had between Cam and Smitty. I'd prefer DHop with a more reasonable multi year contract and in that case, I don't care as much about development of TMJ and Mingo, but they do both need to get PT.
  15. It also matters what they're being asked to do. Kyle Pitts to an Authur Smith offense makes zero sense. He's a huge mismatch for everyone and they've pretty much ignored him. If he has another crappy year in that offense, we should try to trade for him. Always hard to do in division though
  16. Because Matt Rhule that he was a genius among a league of morons. He thought he could make Baker a superstar just like he thought he could with T2G and Darnold.
  17. That place is an absolute dumpster for NFL games. I'll never forget seeing a Panthers fan having beer cans thrown at them and physically assaulted and getting tossed by security for being disruptive.
  18. After hearing this, does anyone else really think all those "mental reps" actually did anything for MC? The Nebraska AD is probably getting more and more nervous the more that comes out about that clown show.
  19. He also had Chud as OC. Can't forget that. I don't have a problem bringing in Hopkins but it's really going to depend on what he wants. He's already said he doesn't want to play with a rookie QB. I see him taking less money and heading to KC to play with Mahomes. He'd be a true #1 there. He'd be a WR2 in Buffalo and Philly. Balt he'd be a 1. It'll be interesting to see what happens but I don't see a need to get all worked up over a receiver that has publicly said he doesn't want to play with our new QB.
  20. It can be done but it's not cheap and requires a dedicated crew and planning. Turf maintenance is a science. One of the biggest things that leads to poor turf quality is piss poor drainage through the soil. If your soil doesn't drain well your roots don't have the strength to hold your turf in place.
  21. Or TMJ. It's sad that there are so many players we really don't have a grasp of their abilities due to the complete incompetence of Rhule and his coaching staff.
  22. They set themselves up in case of failure. Definitely a much better approach than going all in on Mitch Trubisky.
  23. Carolina "won" because we hopefully ended up with our franchise QB. Chicago "won" because they've set themselves up to see if Fields has "it" or not. If he doesn't and they falter, high draft pick. If BY has a typical NFL rookie season, Carolina's pick could be a good one. It's possible they could get both a top QB and Harrison Jr. Both teams accomplished what they were trying to do. Whether that works out in the long run, we'll see.
