Hopefully Burns' agent last big deal wasn't trying to renegotiate super sizing his combo like Norman's. Gettleman was a dumb ass but bringing an agent with zero experience in big contract negotiations was equally as idiotic.

Pay me 5.75M and I'll be happy to be part of the senior citizens brigade.
-
Problem with Russ is he thinks himself a god. His ego is going to keep him from being a desirable pickup.

Bersin wasn't terrible, no matter how much hate he gets here. He didn't care about taking a hit over the middle and had hands of glue. If you asked me who I trusted to catch the damn ball on 3rd and whatever in the clutch, give me Bersin all day. His game had a lot of shortcomings, no doubt, but having reliable hands wasn't one of them.

It's one of those times when fans can actually say that they could have done better than the GM and been 100% correct.
-
At least they're trying to clean up the mess Fitts made. It's hard to really get a grip on how bad he fugged things up.

TBI effects can last a long time. If he is still having issues, it's time to call it a career.
-
My issue isn't keeping him either. It's where does that number lie. I think one thing that has probably hurt his value as a Panther, at least to me, is we're seeing other guys who play a more complete game than Burns taking contracts for less than what he's reportedly been offered. Maxx Crosby and Montez Sweat come to mind right away.
-
Maybe so, but he hasn't done it here. Paying him an elite level contract for what he might do somewhere else is foolish.
-
He's our best edge rusher and didn't finish in the top 25 in NFL sacks this season. Pass rusher is his specialty. Jadaveon Clowney was on a 10m contract this season and finished with more sacks than Burns. He's not an elite edge. He's just not. He's very good at what he does, but he's not some prodigy on the edge. Honestly, I'd rather have Sweat than Burns. At least he can play run defense.

Evans wants to play with an "elite QB"

I want no part of Mike Williams for anything multi-year. Missed 4 games in 23' due to 2 separate injuries and coming of an ACL. Maybe for a prove it deal, but that's about as far as I'd be comfortable going. -
Scott constantly thought we were just one piece away. We weren't and he was too stupid to realize we were a whole lot of "one piece"s away.
-
That's my hope. It just drives me crazy that we had that offer and now a lot of people are hoping that we get offered a single first. A lot of fans realized how ridiculous that offer was. Pick 36 in 23' Pick 19 this year and whatever next year. Burns isn't even a top 10 edge rusher. Tepper and Scott were fugging morons.

A lot of extensions tend to be backloaded. I don’t like the idea of backloading a contract and spending that extra to bring in more expensive FAs when we arent in a winning position. If they did it and front load it, it’d be fine. Id just rather embrace the rebuild, pay the big money now while we’re going to have a lot of lower cost guys, and save that cap space for when we improve.

Marvin Harrison Jr skips his media presser

He just ate some bad sushi and had bubble guts. Can't do a media presser when you've only got a 2" grip on an 8" turd. -
There is more than 1 draft. But right now we have no 1st in 24 and no 2nd in 25. Unless you believe we are trading for JJ with some day 3 picks, we're likely without a 1st and 2nd in 24' and 25' and quite possibly 26'. Trading for JJ would cost us 2 1sts and maybe a 2nd and possibly more. That's 3 years without a 1st and 2nd round pick, not 1. You're right. 2 to 3 great picks can turn your franchise around. The likelihood that you're getting multiple great picks in rounds 3-7 is extremely low. The Texans turned their franchise around with a number 2 overall pick QB, number 3 overall edge rusher, and a 3rd round WR. The biggest part of that obviously is Stroud. Trade for JJ and you're not seeing a 1st round pick for 3 years. Like I said, if BY is a bust, you better hit on a Brady, Dak, RW or Purdy because that's your only hope for a starting QB.
-
Do you know how low the hit rate is for guys taken in rounds 3-7? You can say make good draft picks but hitting on enough picks in those rounds that make a significant difference for 3 years straight is lottery type odds. It just doesn't happen, even for the most successful GMs.
-
Let's say that they make the trade. It's going to cost an arm and a leg. Best WR in the league, you're likely paying a Rams type offer for Burns. How do you continue to build the team and infuse it with new, high grade talent, when you only have round 3-7 in the draft and FA to work with?
-
The coach and GM that traded for BY aren't here anymore. And while we may be a year removed from the trade, the full cost of that trade has yet to be paid. We won't be unaffected by that trade until 2026. You keep saying that it makes sense to make this trade. How do you build around JJ if BY the bust you've said he is?

BREAKING: Brian Burns IG post
SmokinwithWilly replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Could change the name of the team to the Carolina Swifties. Might be the only way to get fans in the stands at this point.
