AR was my pick but only with the right coach, and he needed to sit the 1st season which wasn't going to happen. He needed Shanahan, Campbell, or one of the Harbaughs. Those are the only teams where I think he had a reasonable chance to grow and learn. AR with Frank was going to be a match made in hell.

I get what you're saying. These couple of wins are virtually meaningless because half this team isn't going to be here next year. We have a serious lack of talent all over and being able to trade away the 1st for what we gave up to Chicago could go a long way towards adding premier pieces the next couple of years. A couple of 1sts or a 1st swap with a couple 2nds and 3rds could let us add premium talent at certain positions. I like what we're seeing from Bryce but I want to see more across a full season. I don't know if he is or isn't the guy. This will be an interesting off season but I'm not ready to declare we're playoff bound after going 5-12 with wins over teams with god awful defenses. I think he deserves to be the #1 QB for us going into camp, but we still need competition because we should always be trying to improve the position and we're 1 hit away from career changing injury (see Cam).

It all depends on the asking price. If he wants to be paid like a top 5 LT, you have to be prepared to let him walk or tag n trade. I don't want to get rid of him, but I also don't want to pay him like an elite pass blocking LT when he is not.

He's about to have the worst defense in NFL history and our run defense was ass even when Brown was healthy. Even if he were to be smaller, he has to be a monster in the middle. Anything less and hes getting blown off the LoS. He's been influential in getting his type of players and this is the result.

You can't run an effective 3-4 without a monster NT and this FO has never really committed to the 3-4 front since Ron switched to it. It's not all Evero's fault, but there's plenty of blame to go around for this defense being this bad.

But we'll remember the sweet taste of victory over the Cardinals forever! Or at least until April.

Dan Morgan is Scott Fitterer 2.0. -
We can't keep dumping all our resources into offense. Higgins is going to demand top dollar and someone will overpay. Our FO has to find a number 1 in the draft. They've had enough opportunities with all these high picks but damn, go get our Clifford Franklin.

They're not nearly as good as their record indicates. They have been helped along the way a lot by questionable calls/non-calls. This season has been a clinic for the double standard of refereeing when the Chiefs are involved. I'd say they're actually much close to a 10-6 or 11-5 team than 15-1. My guess, Chiefs win the SB, Kelce gets MVP and proposes to Taylor Swift at center field. What a way for Goodell to bring all those Swifties to the NFL for good, don't ya think? The perfect TikTok moment with the NFL center stage.

Roster Moves; QB Plummer signed to active roster
SmokinwithWilly replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
No need for Dalton to be active for the rest of the season. The season is over. If Bryce goes down or the game gets out of hand play Plummer, there's nothing to lose. Who knows, maybe we blow out the Bucs and they let him take the victory knee. -

The reality of the year and having lower expectations.

I think I had 2-3 wins predicted. As far as the players go, I'm not too concerned. My biggest worry is we've got a GM that has learned at the feet of the master, of failure, Fitts. We've done the same things again, drafting a 1st WR that needs work, a luxury pick RB that may be Eric Shelton 2.0, and spending big money on interior linemen when the most successful teams just draft them, thereby ignoring our defense. We're going to need at least 2 drafts, assuming we hit at a reasonable rate, to repair this defense, at which time Bryce is going into his 5th year option or we have to extend him. Morgan, our scoutng department, and the rest of this FO makes me nervous especially with Tepper's propensity to make his opinion well known. -

Who here was NOT HAPPY we won yesterday....
SmokinwithWilly replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't care if they won or lost. I'm so frustrated with Tepper and the FO, I have zero faith they would find their way out of a wet paper bag. This season was over the minute that no one thought there needed to be actual QB competition in camp. Bryce wasn't ready to start last year. He wasn't ready to start this year. We've wasted 2 seasons to figure out the obvious. Bryce is playing better and he may be a franchise QB and he may not. But once again we drafted guys early for potential instead of actually being able to do the job from day 1. Dan looks like Fitts 2.0 to me and I'm not at all convinced Tepper has stepped back and stopped interfering. I'm disgruntled, but 3 decades of poo GMs will do that.
