Deshaun Watson may not be a Jet!!
SmokinwithWilly replied to Panthers Royal's topic in Carolina Panthers
Which will we have more of? Days until trade deadline or Watson threads? -
Cam was damaged goods and everyone knew it. Ron and co. ran him into the ground. You cant take that many hits as a QB and expect a long career. It's why so many people, myself included, kept saying if he kept playing like that he would hit the RB wall at 30. To top it off, he made that stupid video bragging about how he lied to team doctors and his coach about the severity of his injury and hurt his entire team in the process. That doesn't go over well when you want other people to hire you. He broke 1 foot then shot himself in the other. No one was going to trade a 3rd or even a 7th for him. Cam could have been so much more but Ron fugging detonated his career.

The Gase factor cannot be underestimated. I'm not sure how long it would take to undo any damage done, but he is an interesting option for the right price. I wouldn't give up 8 for him tho.

Marty Hurney is NOT the new Washington GM

Hurney is being brought in to make the 1st round pick. It's the only logical explanation. -
I'd start another thread about Watson.

I remember mine. Not sure who it was against but he tried to throw a 40 yard bomb and it had more hang time and wobble than a punt. I thought maybe it had been tipped at the line or he couldnt step into it because of pressure, but it was a free shot. I had to rewind it 4 or 5 times to double check but he just flat out threw a wounded duck on his best effort.

Maybe Marty got fired for giving him a bad burrito.

It’s hard to tier so many players but that’s the way I’ve always viewed it. You have you’re elites (1-3), top tier (4-15), high end (16-40) then break it down by position and need from there. Certain positions go in areas like IOL in rounds 2-3. It’s important to be able to know these hot spots and when to move around or take someone. Hurney always trusted the feeling in his gut. I think he just ate a bad burrito.

Offense its Moton. Defense its Chinn. -
I really wish we had played Walker or Grier. But then again we might have won another game.

Ron reviewed his round 2-7 draft history. -
QBs could go even higher than expected in the draft
SmokinwithWilly replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Said it before, will say it again. I don't ever remember a year when this many teams need a QB or have reason to draft one. The price is going to be high to move up. Ron really screwed us by starting Haskins. -
He could be GM, HC, OC, DC, and every other position all at once.

There should be some relief for teams in a situation like that. Luke retired for medical reasons. That's not a performance thing, or a contract move. I think teams should have to eat about half of whatever cap hit there is if a player retires. If he comes back, whatever team is signing him would need to pick up the difference.

Hard to say. Bill O'Brien was never officially in the GM role but acted as GM and he was just... well... the Texans were probably jealous of us for having Hurney.

ESPN article sheds more light on Fitterer

If nothing else, being involved in every deal, even if you dont make it does 2 things I consider huge. 1. Gets you a deal you might not otherwise know about. Could we have had Hopkins for last year's 2nd? Its possible, but you never know I'd you're not in the conversation. 2. It keeps teams honest when reading your interest. If you only call when you're really interested, the asking price automatically goes up because others know you're more likely to pay. -
If I remember correctly, there was also talk of Star wanting out. I always though Star was more important than KK and the better player, but if he lacked the desire to stay in Carolina, it would make sense why we extended KK instead.

With all his new revenue, Igo has ordered his first leg of Moose Knuckle IPA.

Exactly. Unless its required for a trade involving a player of Watsons caliber, those guys are untouchable. I'm not advocating trading them, just that of our "assets", CMC, because of that contract, I would rank 5th.

That's what I keep saying. Our biggest trade assets are Brown, Chinn, Burns and Moore. All young, all still on rookie deals, all able to be extended on the trading teams terms.
