I guess it depends on of you use a long O or a short O. The long O being more appropriate atm.

1. Sewell or Slater- get a franchise tackle please 2. Jamin Davis/Richie Grant/Creed Humphrey- any of these 3 I’d be happy. 3. Meinerz - can play G or C and has a nasty streak. Not sure he makes it into the 3rd

This has been my biggest argument in favor of Darnold. Gase wasn’t just terrible, he was completely incompetent. With an actual QB coach, an OC with half a brain, and a head coach that makes something out of guys that aren’t good enough for everyone else, Darnold might finally realize his potential.

He's 30 and has missed 26 games in the past 4 years and is coming off season ending neck surgery. If they dont have faith in his long term health they could get Sewell and trade Smith. I'm not saying they will, but its plausible. Edit: one trade could be Smith to the Chargers for 13 and a couple later picks and they can get the CB they need also.

Dallas could also be in play to trade with Detroit. They just paid Dak a lot of cash and security for his blind side would make a lot of sense.

I didnt think we could trade with the CFL.

Dont forget the 15 defense generated 39 turnovers. Cam didnt carry them. It was an entire team effort.

And had the 3rd pick in the draft this year.

It could be worse. We could have hired Adam Gase as our head coach after his catastrophic failure in Miami...

I didn't expect Teddy to be great. I expected him to be mediocre and I completely agree about that contract. WTF. I didn't expect him to flat out quit and that's what I meant by folding. He just gave up on trying to win. Of all the effort it takes to get to the NFL and how hard he had to work in rehab after that injury, quitting just wasn't in the line of thinking for me when we signed him. If we take Lance at 8 I'm cool with it. If he fails we swung and missed. As a coach though, there's no way in hell I'm letting him sit behind a guy that quit on winning with this team. It's not happening, no fugging way.

If Fields is there at 8, I'm taking Fields. Lance I'm much less certain about and depending on the offer, I could be persuaded to move. That's just me. I don't think anyone really expected TB to fold like he did. He wasn't going to be spectacular, but I've never seen a QB just give up and fall apart the way he did. I've never seen a QB just give up like that or lose any desire to go for it. I wasn't a huge TB fan, but man, he left me wondering WTF did I just watch.

Best trade in Panthers history was getting a 3rd for KB. I know Thor was an amazing TE and all, but getting anything at all for KB, much less a 3rd, was straight up legendary grand larceny.

It all depends on if the coaching staff believes in him. I'm not in a position to say that. If Chicago offered us 2 1sts, 2 2nds and 3rd to move up would you stay put and take a guy from a small school that's going to take a couple years to develop. That's a lot of capitol put in front of you to build a complete team. That's a lot of capitol to move up next year and take Howell if you think he's the guy. It all depends on how the coaches feel about likely the 4th or 5th rated QB in this years draft.

It makes sense in some respects. We have a lot of pieces we need to fill, and the desperation to get a new QB for a lot of teams has driven the price through the roof. While we have to give up a 2nd and some cap space, this isn't a 40m a year contract and it isn't 2-3 1sts plus. That's what we may have had to give up to move to 5. I fully expect us to trade down if Lance is on the board. We can get a lot from one of the teams that could still be looking to trade up. If the top 4 are gone, maybe someone moves up for Jones, or we stay put and grab Sewell, Slater, Chase, a top CB. This opens up a lot of room to maneuver, even if we are out some cap space.

And if we drafted Lance or Fields at 8, we would still be just 1-2 seasons away and we could be potentially without 2 1sts and more.

This. So if Darnold sucks like he did in NY, we would be in line for a top 2 pick. Not that terrible to give up a 2nd to get your franchise QB.

Having the same philosophy is important. If they're on the same page together it will help bring him along faster in our offense. Trust isn't easy to build, but having a coach that believes in you will certainly help.

That's where I am too. And with Chicago, Denver, Washington, New England all looking for franchise guys, if Lance or Fields is sitting there at 8, then maybe we get 2 1sts and some 2nds from another team. We're so used to Hurney and Gettleman both trying to swing for the fences, it's possible that this FO is playing 4d chess and we just don't know what it looks like.

Im actually a little excited about this. I don't think Darnold is as bad as everyone claims. Coaching means a lot and Gase was one of the worst. People defend Cam by pointing out his lack of supporting cast in NE and how they didn't help him at all, even with Belicheck. The same arguments could be made of Darnold, except his coach wasn't fit to coach pop warner. After watching Rhule get his players rise above their talent this year, except for TB, I think Darnold could surprise us. Plus this allows us to get a starting LT possibly. I actually like our options in the draft a whole lot more now. If Lance is sitting there at 8 we could potentially trade down and pick up an extra 1st or more depending on who wants to move. Maybe grab Sewell/Slater/Darisaw. I'm ok with this.

Social media will try and convict anyone without one ounce of evidence. Faux outrage from people willing to shame and degrade for their 15 minutes. The goal being to wear down Watson into a multi million dollar settlement and Buzbee gets his cut. Who needs an actual court when you can use a social media firestorm to do it for you? I'm not saying Watson's guilty or innocent because I dont know. This is just how "justice" is done now. Facts are not important, opinion is all that matters.

We want 2 1sts, 3 2nds, and 2 3rds for Teddy B. Doesn’t mean it’s gonna happen.

Go for the heated version. More expensive but worth it on those cold winter nights.
