A different perspective maybe. What if last season was “win now” to see which players would respond and which wouldn’t. Can’t really determine that if guys think it’s a rebuilding year. Now he knows who played and who half assed it, and can really start to build his team around the guys he wants to keep as an integral part of the team moving forward.

I love watching linemen drill. You can really tell a lot watching their feet. My wife always looks at me funny when I call it big man ballet but they do have to be fast, agile, and light on their feet.

Eagles and Colts reach deal on Wentz trade
SmokinwithWilly replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's a new coach so there's no ties to Hurts really. New coach, new QB. It's definitely a possibility. WRs are easier to get in later rounds than QBs so if they want one, they'll be some good ones available. The more of these moves get made, the more chaos there could be at the top of the draft. -
Seriously?

2 1sts, Shaq, Dante and 500 lotto scratchers for Watson.

The thing for me is, if they want Burns and Chinn, then that’s it, no picks. Actually landing high performance draft picks is not easy and having them under rookie contract counts for something as well. I know Watson is good and all but his contract also severely limits what you can do as far as adding talent around him. That’s going to require draft picks so we can’t give up good players on rookie deals plus draft picks on rookie deals for at least the next 4-5 years just for a talented QB.

Eagles and Colts reach deal on Wentz trade
SmokinwithWilly replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
QB is the most important position on the field and you better believe the Eagles are going to be doing their due diligence. Wentz wasn’t the answer. Hurts may not be either. If they think there’s a better option then they may take a QB. It would be ridiculous to think that a new coach has some type of undying loyalty to Hurts just because he was drafted last year. The only thing for certain in this draft is this draft is going to be crazy. -
What was your first Hornets Game you attended?
SmokinwithWilly replied to Zod's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I was 4 rows back from center court the home game following Glen Rice winning MVP at the all star game. I just remember the whole place going absolutely crazy. -
Breaking breaking news: WFT signs Pro Bowl DT Short and Hurney immediately places him on IR.

Dolphins have received many calls for pick number 3
SmokinwithWilly replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
First time in NFL history when more than a dozen teams are looking for the answer at QB too. Just because it hasn't happened before doesn't mean it can't happen now. -
Dolphins have received many calls for pick number 3
SmokinwithWilly replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
If the Dolphins are receiving calls for 3, then people have to accept the possibility all 4 QBs could be gone by 8. If a team does trade up into 3, it's going to be for a QB. TL and Wilson will likely go 1,2, leaving 5 spots with multiple teams looking to trade. Whether the price is right or not remains to be seen, but the possibility is definitely there. -
If we choose not to have a receiving tight end then it's one less dimension we can have on our offense. TE will always be in to block. Might as well just have a 6th Olineman.

If Brady comes back he heads to Tampa on a near minimum 1 yr deal for a shot at a ring.

report: panthers called about darnold

for $23m a year, perfectly fine. Will only play 4 or 5 minutes this year, spend the rest on IR with a broken tailbone and watch Will Grier lead our team to ... -

And playing for Gase cannot be understated. That man could turn a diamond into coal. -
PFT: Orlando Brown Jr wants to be traded
SmokinwithWilly replied to JawnyBlaze's topic in Carolina Panthers
As was stated in the other thread, a tag and trade of Moton for Brown would be a good move since we could draft a natural right tackle. The hardest part would be the 5yr\95m contract they signed Stanley too. That’s a lot of money in 2 tackles but they would be set at the ends. -
Per Joe Person: players Panthers would like to re-sign
SmokinwithWilly replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hurney always loved linebackers. -
I’m not saying he didn’t. But he realized the value of contracts and how far an extra 20-30m a season could go to building a team around him. He could have that big NFL contract and be the highest paid QB in the NFL with 2 or 3 rings, or he could take a lesser contract, build a better team around him, and become the GOAT. Now how bad does it look for the Patriots to be paying for nutritional and treatment advice from a guy that just keeps winning. It was a good business plan because it worked. Right now, there aren’t any other players playing that level of game in the NFL.

I’m not forgetting it at all. But not having 150m extra in writing is a whole lot of trust. Again, he was thinking big picture.
