Your 2021 NFL Draft Trading Down Idea !?
SmokinwithWilly replied to Leotiger's topic in Carolina Panthers
My thought too. Who is left that a team is going to want to trade up to get? Slater/Sewell, Jones, Paye, Smith. I dont see a ton of game changer talent that would demand a trade up. Ideally trade down to the Pats at 15 so they can grab Jones and pick up a 2nd and a 4th. Take Darrisaw, maybe Friermuth in the 2nd or Humphrey if he falls with the extra 2nd, and a 3 tech DT with the extra 4th. -
I probably shouldn't go to Victoria's Secret in sweatpants right now

If that's the floor for Watson, hell, I'm at least calling Jacksonville. Of course they'll say no, but everything has a price or at least that's what I've been told.

Every year this question is asked and every year Loomis works his voodoo and makes it happen. If they have a major setback this year and finish under 500, look for them to use 2022 to dump a ton of their cap problems.

This doesn’t make much sense to me. Kerr was cheap and we have a lot of holes we can’t fill with the draft. Why add another?

They're doing their due diligence and rightly so. It's what smart organizations do. QB is the most important position on the field. You take the opportunity when it is presented to you. At the very least they are giving the impression they could take a QB, making their spot in the draft even more valuable. That's why I hate the idea of having to trade up. This year is the worst year to need a QB. Lots of demand, not a whole lot of supply. -
I was also in a roundabout way. Wilson looks selfish, arrogant and is acting like a diva. Brady looks selfless, business like and is acting like he wants rings. Two completely different attitudes, and very different results because of it.

Atlanta easily could. If you think you can land your franchise guy for the next 10-12 years, you do it. Having your future QB on the bench for a year, maybe 2 is a lot less costly than having to give up 2 or 3 1sts plus extra picks to move up. Philly could take a QB if the new coach isn't in love with Hurts. And Goff isn't the answer in Detroit. They could do the same thing, draft a QB, sit him a year and tell Goff to hit the bricks. But even if neither one take a QB, they can trade out from where they are and there is only one reason to trade up to 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 and that's for a QB. With at least 10 teams needing a franchise QB, all 4 could be gone by 4, or maybe one makes it to 8 but I highly doubt it. -
TB12 has taken a different approach. By not taking so much cap space, he's showing he cares about one thing, winning rings. That's why guys take smaller deals to be with him. It's about the whole, not the individual pieces. He makes 12m a year off endorsements to offset what he doesn't make in the NFL (Giselle does make bank though), and that makes winning a whole lot easier. You don't get big endorsement deals if you don't win. And winning is what he does. It's a smart business plan for him and the team. It worked with the Patriots, probably will work in Tampa too.

McDermott is better than Rivera ever was. Such a shame we had more commitment to being loyal than recognizing actual talent within the organization.

Josh Norris believes WR 3 is a big need this offseason

With our current QB, I think Samuel is more important than people think. Anderson and Moore are deep threats but T2G isnt. Any deep pass has enough hang time opposing DBs could go out to lunch and be back before the ball gets there. I dont think we'll be able to keep him, but he's definitely a good player in a key position for our current QB. If that QB changes it's a whole different game. -
They're going to want 2nds and 3rds likely too. It's hard to build through the draft if you are devoid of talent. If he's forcing his way out of Houston, with no picks for 3 years, when his contract expires he could force his way out of here too, even with a tag. I think the guy is immensely talented but giving up players and a lot of picks is just going to keep us spinning in the mud.

The Saints are still $55M over the cap after multiple moves
SmokinwithWilly replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can see it and having to get under the cap is the perfect excuse to dump players to try to tank. Players can still play hard but lack of talent will shine through. -
Agreed. Paying a rookie that had never taken a snap more than an all pro was ridiculous. There needed to be a rookie cap. Early picks had to work out because if they didn't, the salary cap damage just made the pick even worse.

I'd be worried about that ankle. I know they wouldn't have paid him if he hadn't cleared the medicals, but after a dozen games, makes you wonder how that thing is going to be holding up.

Jacksonville has been virtually non existent.

Anybody remember when Colin Jones "asked" for his release?
SmokinwithWilly replied to JABANOG's topic in Carolina Panthers
I barely remember Colin Jones.
