The NFL Draft hats are out now. Thoughts?

Does it have the obligatory Fire Rhule on the back? -
Marty Hurney from the Commanders is there. God that name sucks for a football team.

Sometimes simple really is the best. -

I swear. It was an orange guy with green hair singing a song about chocolate and he was this tall.. -
Sounds like they want ammo next year to replace Daniel Jones.

If I had to venture a guess I would say that it's some concern over health, not that he's been injured, but he's a big guy and big guys that size can be more susceptible to injury. His footwork is good but a little slower than his upper body movement and can cause some balance issues and he doesn't have as much attitude and nastiness as others. He's still a very good tackle no doubt, but that's what stood out to me. I think that's why he's been as low as 6. Just a little bit of concern could cause him to drop from the top spot.

I like Ekwanu and if the cost wasn't ridiculous, I wouldn't mind moving up to 4 to get him ahead of the Giants if he's still available. Cross is the better LT immediately but I think Ekwanu's ceiling is higher. Cross wouldn't be a bad consolidation prize though. Neil is a good tackle, he doesn't look as smooth in his movements as the other 2.

Watson not out of woods yet - 2nd grand jury
SmokinwithWilly replied to FugginPoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
The legal stuff was always my biggest concern. Now that the Browns are planning to start Watson, Goodell can't just ignore it like he was fortunate enough to do with the Texans having him on the bench. -
We finished 5-12 and were an embarrassment at the QB position. Are we really in any position to be doing favors for players who likely wouldn't be on anyone else's practice squad? He's on the hot seat and he knows it and instead of at least seeing what was going to be available and do a proper evaluation, he does this. It's a severe lack of awareness, IMO.

The day after the NFL season ends, we sign PJ Walker to a new deal. Vet minimum or whatever he got, whatever guarantees, there was no need for it. With our QB room in shambles, and a plethora of options available this offseason, there was no need to do this. This was a loyalty layup. Now you can say this wasn't a big mistake but I think it shows a problem. Rhule is loyal to his guys regardless of whether or not they do anything worth being loyal for. We saw it when he benched Cam for Sam and then went into that merry-go-round QB situation. You can't trust him to do what's best for the team. His talent evaluation at the QB position at the NFL level is suspect and he was throwing love me eyes at Pickett. Pickett would be QB 4 in 3 years all chosen by Rhule. Signing Walker may seem minor, but it is an indication of a much bigger problem. Right now, Rhule is relying on his familiarity with players than his ability to properly evaluate them.

Been saying this for a while. Put him where he can do the most damage
-
As long as it's an elite level playmaker and not a QB I'm ok with it.
-
Get Minshew on the relatively cheap. Use him to judge how good a coach Rhule is. Rhule has gotten to select his guy 2 years in a row at ridiculous costs given production. Now its time for the front office to select for him and see what he can do. If we flounder again, adios. If he performs well and the team does well, then maybe Rhule sees year 4. There really isn't much difference between Minshew and any of the QBs this year other than draft pick cost.

Rhule will have no excuse

Desire doesn't equal ability. -
We do. But I'm not sold on any of this years prospects at 6. That's an elite level player pick and I just don't see any qb as elite this year.
-
It's possible one could be there at 6.

I want BC as a swing tackle and draft a LT. Get rid of Irving since he was never any good anyway or keep him for some other useless purpose like waterboy. Keep Elfien as a backup center/guard if we have too but I'd be perfectly fine with a late round center and letting him walk as well.
-
Why does everyone keep saying make BC a guard. He looked horrible there last year and it's not his natural position. Keep him as a swing tackle, draft a LT, move Brown to LG or get a decent vet.
-
Our QB, whoever it is, won't know what to think when there isn't someone in the backfield in under half a second.

Can we talk about Fitterer and the off-season so far

To be fair, there wasn't much success before this occurred.
