There's some pretty cool concept designs out there. Just hope black as a base is going to be used most of the time.

Also worth noting, once you add body weight or muscle mass, movement is not the same. Adding bulk changes your ability to move like you're used to. How much of that could change his throwing motion or his touch would have to be seen, but I think it's worth discussion as well.

I'd love to work in football, but not with QBs. I played LT and LG so I love anything to do with Oline play. I call it fat guy ballet. First place I look when looking at any oline guy is how they work their feet. Everything stems from balance. I admit I didn't think BC could move inside to guard because of his footwork. He never looked comfortable in his rookie year on the inside. Of course I also didn't know Rhule was trying to get him to play T,G and C which are all different in their first steps and approach to engaging. It's also why when watching Greg Little's combine I knew he was in trouble. That was some of the sloppiest poo I've seen.

JT O'Sullivan's QB Rankings for 2023
SmokinwithWilly replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pretty much knew it once he moved Chinn to safety. You don't take a DROY finalist (should be winner) and move him away from doing the things that made him so damn effective. -
JaMarcus Russell is just about the best example of having the physical tools but none of the mental ones. Dude could throw the ball a mile but had zero drive to be any good.
-
And hopefully don't build an offense around taking those shots 90% of the time for the next 7 years.
-
It all depends on the reasons why a guy is not an accurate thrower. If it truly is hand-eye, that's a problem. If it's because he's short stepping into his throws, or trying to throw off his back foot, or even grip on the ball, those are fixable. Too many determining factors all the way around. If AR or Levis has the mental ability to put all the pieces together, depending on whether or not they've had the opportunity, then they have to be in consideration. Personally, I'm less concerned about whether they're from Alabama, OSU or Podunk U at this point. All I'm concerned with is does he possess the necessary traits and the drive to become an elite level QB. If we have the coaching staff we think we do, then take whoever best fits that bill.
-
I think you're overthinking the question now though. Physical attributes will only get you so far. It takes brains to actually make them effective. You can improve your use of those physical attributes as well through coaching, technique, etc, but again, all of those come down to can you learn it, the mental aspect of the game.
-
Just hope he doesn't end up dropping the case.

Cam's accuracy throwing off his back foot or relying on his strength when throwing looked very different than when he stepped into a pass. Sadly, instead of fixing our oline so he had time to actually step into a throw, we went and got 2 tall WRs that couldn't get any separation.
-
I'm sure you can. The ability to read, dissect, process, decide and release in under 3 seconds while being accurate is much more difficult to teach. It's kind of the same question as which is better, power hitter or contact hitter. Each have their advantages, but I'd take contact hitter over power hitter in most situations.
-
It does, but there's only so much that can be coached. Certain traits you either have or don't. Fortunately the questions is only about the traits, and doesn't include all the mitigating factors that play into the development of those traits.

We've seen the brain vs brawn thing here the past 2 years. Darnold and Baker both have the physical gifts to play in the NFL, but lack the brain power to do it well. Doesn't matter if you can throw it a mile if you can't read the field and get it out of your hands before you're leveled.

Could be. But LJ has no one really to negotiate this contract other than himself. NFLPA has already issued warnings to teams about negotiating with a non approved "agent".
-
I don't know what it's about. This deal was offered before this whole fiasco started. If I'm an agent trying to sell my services to guys coming right out of college, I give them this whole LJ/Ravens thing as my biggest reason why you need to hire me.

https://www.profootballrumors.com/2023/04/ravens-offered-lamar-jackson-175mm-in-total-guarantees-deal-no-longer-on-table Looks like Lamar was offered 175m in guaranteed money. Holy moly. Hope he gets himself an agent soon. He's only hurting himself at this point.

Behind the scenes in the front office

Are those meatballs on the buffet table over there? -
That would be hilarious. I admit, I want it to happen now.

I never understood adding grapes or apples to chicken salad. If I want something sweet, I'll just have dessert.

I'm fine with IOL in the 2nd and 3rd round, but at this point I think edge or LB would be a better option if available. We still have Mays. I'd prefer if we did go IOL that it was for a center that could play G also.

For entertainment value, go and watch the body language of the people around Rhule from year 1 to the beginning of year 3. It's like they all ate "fresh" sushi from backwoods gas station. -
I have to say at this point I'm pretty impressed at how well the staff has kept this all tight lipped. Not sure who else remembers a few years ago when Will Grier as our 3rd round comp pick was all over the place several weeks before the draft even took place

DOES NOT!!

Thoughts on signing Frank Clark?
SmokinwithWilly replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
I never said we were a rebuild project. I don't think you actually read what I said. I said I think we are rebuilding certain areas because we lack depth. That doesn't mean we're actually team that's rebuilding. But winning the division also doesn't mean we're competitive across the NFL. The NFCS is bad. I'm more concerned about being able to compete with the upper echelon teams and win than securing a division title. No one cares who won the division once the playoffs start. Being able to win when it matters is what matters.
