  1. In order to have a slump, you have to have played well at some point.
  2. Our only hope is Tepper starts costing the other owners money with how bad this team is performing.
  3. Brock Purdy with no elbow against the Eagles was better than this.
  4. Urkel could have used his booth to turn into a real NFL QB.
  5. You still have to win games at the beginning of the season to make the playoffs. Even if he looses his starting role week 6 or 8, that's a starting RB in double digit rounds most likely. Hard to beat that value.
  6. I don't. By that point, the guys have had their opportunities, they failed, time to start getting ready for next season and start looking ahead. If that means not putting the team in the best position to win a game and you happen to move up 1 or 2 spots, so be it. That meaningless win could be the difference between Peyton Manning instead of Ryan Leaf.
  7. Well, I see one way to get a Lombardi in the building.
  8. It's like using a brand new piece of equipment. Sure you may know everything about it and how it works, but once you put it on a real jobsite, you don't know where the unforseen quirks lie. I'd rather find ours when it doesn't matter than when it does.
  9. Good deal. With new offense playcalling, scheme, center etc, it won't hurt to get some game speed snaps in for coach and QB.
  10. Agreed. My first thought was 3 years after Tepper sells the team.
  11. Typically I'd agree with that sentiment but since we've been the worst team in professional sports for 5 years, this team needs a win, even if it is technically meaningless. Being ok with losing is a mentality we need to get out of the building
  12. The games themselves are pretty meaningless, but for a franchise that has taken it in the shorts the way Carolina has the past 6 years, winning is a necessity, even if it is the preseason. We need to get the taste of losing out of our mouths.
  13. Of course I want to get out there and play. I'm a competitor. It's who I am. The coaches have their reasons for not putting me on the field right now, and I trust their judgment, but hell yes, I want to be out there. That's what I want to hear.
  14. Has a career in politics when this is over. Answers without answering.
  15. I just want to see how good the chemistry between him and Dionte is so I have a better idea of where to pull the trigger for my flex WR.
  16. If BY were to get hurt in preseason, say season ending, we would have to seriously consider another QB in the draft even if he were capable of returning. Year 3 would be an evaluation year again and year 4 we have to consider 5th year option. We're not going anywhere without a QB so if one comes along we like better than BY, it's just business. Let them compete. But dont hamstring the team because you're afraid of hurting his feelings. I'm actually a little more concerned about DC than BY. If DC doesn't work out and goes full Frank mode, BY will be on his 3rd head coach in 3 years and that HC will definitely have zero ties to him. This team needs some stability somewhere. I hope we find it.
  17. Likely the only interest in the Panthers I'll have during the regular season is to see who they're playing next so I can pick up the opposing defense in fantasy football.
  18. What I fear is the excuse that they didn't have enough time with the new system, coach, GM, players, etc. I fear trying to build a system around him that avoids the use of common sense. I fear we are trying to invest everything in a QB that didn't even rank in the top 32 last year. That is downright terrifying given our history under Tepper. If we end up with a top 3 pick, and I believe our chances are better than 90% we will, not taking every opportunity may very well lead us to passing on a QB should there be one worth taking, or taking a player to specifically help BY instead of taking the best player to help the team. But my greatest fear is that this owner and FO can't or won't admit that a mistake was made, if indeed it was, and it's time to move on. The more opportunities that are available to evaluate his performance, the better that evaluation has the potential to be.
  19. BY needs to be playing. Forget draft status. Based on his play alone from last year, he should be competing for a starting spot and nothing should be guaranteed just because he was the number 1 pick. Based strictly off performance, we've got a late rounder/udfa starter, a dinosaur qb2, and some practice squad rejects as our hopeful starting QB. No team should ever feel comfortable going into the season with that, but we're good.
  20. What it screams to me is they're ok with failure. How can anyone say they're trying to improve the team when the most important position on the field has zero competition. Or that could just be the plan. If BY gets hurt, put in Plummer and it's a straight shot to number 1.
