Enjoyed seeing some vision for the team’s future. Hurney always bet on winning right now with very little building for long term success. Gettleman believed hog mollies were the answer to everything and even drafted one at WR. Fitts showed the ability to adapt to things as they happened and that was very refreshing.

I was 325 would be a good weight. That's still a lot of beef to sling around but it's an extra 200 lbs of pressure off the knees. I was 375 lbs and I can't even tell you how much easier life was after losing that 50 lbs. Plus he is going to have better access to nutritional info if he chooses to use it.

A moment of appreciation for Scott Fitterer… we have a GM

Well see how the picks work out but the strategy if nothing else appears sound. I'm ok with trying something new. Lord knows we failed plenty doing it the old way. -
Round 6 (C) Thomas Fletcher - LS - Alabama
SmokinwithWilly replied to Jackofalltrades's topic in Carolina Panthers
I posted before the WFT pick. I figured he could have been had in the 7th since it's not such a high demand position. I dont have an issue with getting a LS if we are moving on from Jansen. A million a year for someone who has always been reliable at what I feel is an undervalued position is worth it in my opinion, but it is just that, my opinion. I just really liked the idea of Morrissey because of his versatility without the injury history. -
Round 6 (C) Thomas Fletcher - LS - Alabama

Would rather have seen Jimmy Morrissey than a LS. Not saying we couldn't use a LS, but another g/c combo player for the line would have been nice. -
Round 6 (A) Deonte Brown - G - Alabama

If he falls on someone it really will be a pancake. -

I was really hoping we could get Jabril Cox. A 2 time first team all American LB would have been a really nice addition. At some point you have to make picks.

I was really hoping for Meinerz. Now I feel a little disappointed -

Meinerz is who I want next -
This feels like a really bad mock draft from first pick with these trades. Except first pick gives better trades

I like our options for round 2. I was hoping we could have moved down and picked up an extra second but oh well. Koramoah, Jenkins, Moore, and Radunz are my choices.

"Verge's Draft Day Thread" or some such.
SmokinwithWilly replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don’t take criticism from those that won’t put their own neck out there. Predicting the draft is hard to do especially when you aren’t in all those draft rooms. You’re still better at this than Mel kiper and don’t need 50 cans of Aqua Net every morning. -

No he won't. Most of these guys will be on IR before the season starts. -
BREAKING: A.Rodgers wants out of Green Bay

Big difference between FA and a trade but I'd give away 4 1sts for a Lombardi. Nobody cares how you won, only that you won. -
BREAKING: A.Rodgers wants out of Green Bay
SmokinwithWilly replied to firefox1234's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you think it gets you a SB you can. TB did it and it worked out ok. Things shift so fast in the nfl winning now when you're close is sometimes the best option. -
Where a player lands contributes so much to his success or failure. David Carr is a perfect example. He got sacked so many times he saw ghosts everywhere because he landed behind such a horrible offensive line. I'm optimistic about Darnold because I don't think he's had a real chance to develop bad habits. He's spent the majority of his time trying to fit into Gase's system which was throw it at the wall and see what sticks.

I bet Ron chews the same piece of gum all the days of the draft, without it ever losing flavor.

The value of rock / paper / scissors
SmokinwithWilly replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I guess maybe there is some psychological stuff to a simple game like that. Me, I'm only playing after a dozen shots of Jaeger and it's rock/paper/scissors/shot. -
If he is there in the 3rd I would be happy to watch them call his name as our pick. I don't think he makes it to the 4th. He needs to be developed and 2 years behind Darnold would give time for that to happen. A promising young QB in the stables would be nice to have.

And for Snyder forcing the Haskins pick. They took Sweat a few picks later.

If we go Sewell/Slater in the first, I would like to see Humphrey or Meinerz in the second. I do expect the pick to be Grjant though. I would be content with Jamin Davis too.
