I know. But I tried to have at least .0001% hope that we could do something more than crap all over the field.

The Official “when will we score a touchdown” watch
SmokinwithWilly replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not even sure we average more than 7 points a game after seeing this. -
Why do I have the sense of urgency that we need to win our next game or we're already out of playoff contention?

We sucked more than BOGO at the bunny ranch on dollar day.

The chili dogs were awesome when I was a kid. But then again I remember the chilito at taco bell and the Wendy's all you can eat buffet.

At least we won't have a 2nd next year to blow on another poo receiver.

Someone, anyone should fire themselves after this mess.

Were going to be lucky to average 5 points a game.

Thanks LCF and I wish him the best.

Ian Rapoport on Bryce: "Everyone had Bryce Young #1"
SmokinwithWilly replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know how anyone could overlook the history. The only 2 NFL starters BY size to make any "significant" contributions were Eddie LeBaron in the 60's and Doug Flutie. History alone tells you that short QBs rarely make an impact and to trade up for one, giving up what we did, is insanity. If BY had put up the same stats and highlights playing for Kentucky State he wouldn't have been in the day 1 conversation, much less for the top pick. He might have been late day 2 or early day 3 conversation. BY may prove me wrong, and I hope to God he does because that would mean we might have a chance at a winning season or 3, but the history of small QBs making it from college to the NFL and then actually succeeding just doesn't give me much hope.- 106 replies

BY shouldn't just be considered the starter. His cost is a sunk commodity at this point. The goal should always to get better. If BY is the best, so be it. But to just hand him the reins because he was a #1 pick is stupid. If another QB legit beats him out, start that guy.

Richardson was my guy but I always thought he'd require a coach that could reign in his wanting to run and build an offense around him. Frank was never going to be that guy. Stroud was my 2, and Bryce wasn't even in the 1st 3 rounds. There hasn't been a long term successful QB that size in 60 years. There's a reason. I don't care how big his brain is, if he didn't play at Bama and have all the S2 hype, he would have been a day 3 pick.

How many games are you willing to give Young?
SmokinwithWilly replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
By week 6 we know. By week 17 we have the number 1 pick if he sucks. -
He seems to be a likable enough guy in a team setting and has all the physical tools, he's just always been lacking in his mental game. He's still on an NFL roster which says something. He's been put in terrible situations for a long time, without any real chance with legitimate coaching until last year in SF. He's more of those what if kind of NFL guys for me. Similar to KB and "what if" he hadn't shredded his knee and his mom hadn't passed away at such a pivotal time in his life. Never gonna actively root against the guy, but would like to see him succeed a little after being led by Gase and Rhule. I think he deserves something for putting up with those 2 chuckleheads and OOU.

More millions in fines for drink throwing than wins.

If Teppers tenure hadnt been filled with blunder after blunder and had been even a tiny bit successful, maybe. I'd see it more as weakness from GM who doesn't have any real power and the ultimate decision rests with a man that doesn't know football.
-
Trading for him would likely cost next year's first and if BY doesn't perform, that's going to be a top 2 pick. I'd rather draft an elite WR and pay far less if that's the option we have to go.

Vikings draft pick dies in car crash
SmokinwithWilly replied to Davidson Deac II's topic in Carolina Panthers
My son in law was almost killed by a drunk driver. His friend walking down the sidewalk next to him was when a woman with 9 DUIs ran off the road. She had used her kid, who was in the car, to blow the breath meter to start it. Un-freaking-believable. Her family thought the punishment was harsh when she got 30 years. -
Never thought I'd see the day it'd be cheaper to watch games in a sports bar.
